    That glass ergo file changed my life. I quit dipping after months because I just couldn’t get a neat cuticle line even with toothpicks. Ever since I saw you mention it it is a GAME changer for nails. They will make your nails look so professional I’m obsessed

    Instead of a disposable pad, I found a 3 pack of silicone mats made for crafting that wipe clean like a dream. They were around $12 and work like a dream.

    I kinda love that, over the course of learning by trial and error to do dip nails in the last year, I've assembled more or less the same list of items, frequently the exact same brands, as my go-to necessities for doing my nails.
    I might need to try the ergo file, though -- I've recently added liquid latex as a skin protector during filing because my skin is super fragile (for the same reason my nails are super thin and fragile, which is why I do dip nails in the first place!).

    Great video on essentials. Not sure if you recorded the next one yet, but I think there is something important to show or not show. It is in prep and it is removing the natural shine. It breaks my heart seeing so many pics of women's nails in FB groups, asking why their nails are so thin and breaking and you can clearly see they filed the F out of them. Your channel is bigger than mine and your more on Dip brand than I am. Pleaseee say something about this issue. It is so sad and if it saves one person's natural nails...that is a win 🥰

    Hello! I watched your super informative vid. I'm looking for your advice on getting a nail builder and strengths. It's been a long time since I've payed any attention my nails. But they're weak and want to start over. I'd love to be able to get into dips, which wasn't around when I was doing my own polish. 😉

    • @ThisIsATireFire
      @ThisIsATireFire 2 роки тому +2

      dip nails aren't so much an alternative to polish as they're a more diy friendly alternative to acrylic. I'd start off with a good cuticle oil and a good hand lotion and get real free with them (use one or the other every time you wash your hands) while you're collecting all your supplies and watching as many tutorials as possible. that'll help your natural nails to be healthier before you start. glass files are really nice for shaping your natural nails and seem to leave a smoother edge that's less prone to peeling and snagging.

    • @kellyholmes9040
      @kellyholmes9040 2 роки тому +1

      Ok great! I will start with lotion and be more diligent. I did buy a basic Sally Hanson nail strenghner and OPI polish. The glass file sounds perfect. Thanks so much!

    • @CaroleAnnette

  • @savannahh4378

    Another question won’t the course brush put ridges on your nails or are you brushing off excess powder after the applicator dries?

    • @CaroleAnnette
      @CaroleAnnette  7 місяців тому

      It won’t unless you are brushing off the powder prematurely.
      Once the dip base + powder air dries for a few minutes, it’s okay to use the stiff brush. It shouldn’t affect it at all unless you’re in a colder environment and your liquids are taking longer to dry than usual.

    Super newbie here! Can you do dip on your natural nail? You mentioned to not use that grit on natural nails, does that mean that it's ok to use it after the dip? Thank you! 😊

    • @CaroleAnnette

      It’s okay to use a rough grit on the dip powder, but it’s too gritty for the natural nail

    Hi Carol I'm a complete newbie here and appreciate your videos, especially this one!! I was wondering if the nail files 180/100 if it's damaging for natural nails? I grew my nails out and was wondering if I could use these files instead of a nail drill? I haven't bought a nail drill yet and am nervous due to how complex it seems any help Carol or anyone?? Thanks!!!

    • @CaroleAnnette
      @CaroleAnnette  2 роки тому

      I would recommend a 240 grit for your natural nails. That or a glass or metal file.
      You can definitely use 180/100 on dip powder though.

    • @niadean9518
      @niadean9518 2 роки тому

      @@CaroleAnnette thanks for the response!! So should I purchase the 240 grit file and the glass one? I want a smoother seamless look and I want to make my cuticles look cleaner with the dip.. I'm still practicing so I'm unsure if I'm flooding my cuticles or what, but I really want a tool to aid in smoothing. Sorry for the tangent.

      Fav Dip Kit:
      I don’t recommend kits, not normally. Because most brands don’t have an affordable one, or those that do, I don’t like their liquids.
      My options:
      • fav dip liquids: pick up liquids and any dip and files from Mani Boss or Triple D.
      • the Revel Nail kit is INCREDIBLE for its value, and you can use discounts and rewards to get it for cheaper. If you end up not liking their liquids, keep using the kit but buy a set of dip liquids elsewhere.
