Basically, this is an incredibly sweet machine, fits well in the hand, etc. It has slightly less power than I'm used to, but that's understandable. Maneuvering freehand takes some practice. These days, it's especially nice to be able to avoid power cords. This is above the level of a hobbyist but below a pro level.
Years ago Sears sold something that looked a lot like this. After several days and a bunch of wood. I found it to be crap. To call it junk would have been an insult to junk.
Not so easy to use, needs some training in order to get correct results (as for most of practices !). Works best with lighter router (no surprise) but the plastic base is quite sturdy though. I made some simple geometry exercises with my Milescraft pantograph and found out that both number 1 and number 3 settings (for 40 or 60% reduction) will always induce some distorsion of models or letters, it is unavoidable. Only the 50% reduction setting (center number 2) will preserve the original aspect ratio, so caveat emptor ! It is inherent with the parallelogram design of this device which is technically NOT a pantograph in fact !
Sadly I must agree with these comments about the music and fast speech. Sounds similar to a bad Car Commercial Disclaimer. I like the idea, and would have liked to finish watching the video, but find it very distracting. Will try to view a few other Vid's of yours. Crossing fingers.....
I tried, watched it twice , can't understand 80% of what this guy is saying ! why didn't somebody inspect the video before they put it out? I hope the DVD they sent with it is better then this!!!!
***** I have carved by hand a little slower than that using template letters to mark with and a hand router and chisels. I give it the carved inset look. I think the only way for it to be done quicker is with a cnc. lol. Just FYI; I've been at woodworking over 40 years. I've built stuff most folks will never get close to doing. Some by hand tools, some by machine, some by both.
Pls remove the music from this video. The increased speed of the speech is annoying enough. The music really distracts from this tutorial video. Thanks

The music is awesome! Go to around 6 minutes. The router motor is like a crazy awesome simple solo over the music. Beautiful. Pantograph was cool too.

Amazon, of course... Milescraft Router 1298. (And, you can make your own templates, simply cut the templates, then use them to trace the letters)
