I never heard to not soak hand tied wigs until I started watching UA-cam videos and reading Wig Studio 1 on Facebook. I’ve always soaked my hand tied wigs and never had problems with the knots loosening so far. Maybe I’ve been lucky.
Suzi, I had never heard of it either until I attended some trainings (Jon Renau and Ellen Wille). I'm happy to hear that your hand-tied have not loosened. xoxo
Hi Donna, thank you for stopping by! I had never heard of this until I attended some trainings. Not sure why this happens but I guess the manufacturers seem to think so. xoxo
If you have a bald head and wash your whole head everyday, you can go longer between washes. When your older your scalp produces less oils. Belle Madam balsam also cleanses. I hardly ever use wig shampoo because it deteriorates the fibres’ protective coating. I apply balsam directly to the hair and ends for concentration. I avoid dry shampoo on the fibres, especially the ends because that shiny silicone is protecting the fibres. I only apply dry shampoo to the roots and underneath. I like how you avoid friction and choose a smooth towel. I use a soft t-shirt as a blotting towel avoiding friction.
@@MarlenesWigChatStudio thanks for the reply. I did see that but my Elite, though it’s a wefted cap, says the mono part is hand tied. I’m not sure if a hand-tied monofilament has the same concerns as a fully hand- tied cap.
I am with you, Marlene ... i am not going to any "soaking" of any of my babies ... i will follow your wash instructions to the "T" ... i use Microfiber towels on my vehicle ONLY ... so i have plenty of those ... LOL ... thanks doll ... xoxoxo
This was a super informative and helpful video. Appreciate it very much Marlene. I would like to see a video on how to steam wigs. You think that could be possible? 🙂
Hi Gloria! Thank you! I'm so happy to hear my video was informative. Yes, I have the steaming video recorded as well as one how to thin a wig. I just haven't had time to edit. xoxo
I’ve ruined wigs by over washing! The products are so worth the money on the fibers. Every wig wearer should watch this
Great instructional video! I did not know you should not soak hand tied cap! I love Salted Caramel. One of my favorite colors ❤️

Thanks so much. This is the very first time I have heard it mentioned to wash a hand tied wig different. Makes sense to me.

Would you wash a wefted cap with a hand tied monofilament part under running water or soak it in the sink?
Hi Jennifer, perhaps you missed the part where I show how I wash my wefted caps. I soak them 💕
