In-universe Joey is unironically an amazing duelist When you think about it, he’s competing against: a billionaire genius who has a god card and any card in the game he wants, an ancient Egyptian pharaoh who also had a god card and can effectively use magic to cheat, a possessed Egyptian villain who also has a god card and can basically cheat and do whatever he wants He’s just a guy, he’s got no tricks, he just rolls his dice and gives it his all. The fact he’s even in competition against 3 whole god cards being wielded by 3 generationally strong duelists is a sign he’s strong
