Is the first demonstration with the chisel caulking? What is the 2nd demonstration called?I've rolled flues on a Case boiler then "beaded" them over, both with hand tools as my Grandfather showed me over 50 years ago. Still have the tools too.
If you wipe the caulked seam with a dirty oily rag you can see when you have finished when the seam line disappears. I may not have explained this very well but if you try it you will see what I mean.
professonal boilersmith here, youve got no bloody idea mate. it has to be experienced. im 60%deaf in one ear and 40% in the other and its still bad even with plugs and muffs.
they always leak on new work you just get with it on the caulking until they seal. Once the boiler is hot they will seal up that and the rust that gets in there.
Now i understand how it's done. Thanks for the video
With the right tools (and exquisite knowledge and skill) we can move mountains. Thank you.

Why can't we use welding?
I’m a little late here but this is before welding was invented retired Union Boilermaker
If you notice, welding was used. But, riveting, calking, and beading were all required as well to match what it was originally.
