Fun fact: Nathan Fillion, who voices Green Lantern in this and MANY other animated movies, will be in James Gunn's Superman movie as ANOTHER rendition of Green Lantern.
Nathan Fillion can even mentor Patrick Schwarzenegger and whoever will play John Stewart into knowing how to playing green lanterns.

In the comic books it’s explained that Bruce has too many conflicting emotions to be able to be chosen for a green lantern ring. He has an equal amount of fear and willpower which means he isn’t eligible for either a green nor yellow ring. To be chosen by a green ring of willpower he’d have to let go of the deep fear he still harbours for his parent’s death. And to be chosen for a yellow ring of fear he’d have to let such fear overtake and consume him instead of fighting against it.
Supposedly superman is not eligible for a green lantern ring because he is not a native to earth’s space sector, 2814. He is from krypton which is in 2813. In order to become a green lantern he’d likely have to move to 2813 and even then he’d have to wait for the current lantern of 2813 to die. And even then he’d have to be closer to where that lantern died than a different worthy candidate as the rings have been shown to prioritise proximity to its current location when selecting another candidate. So there’s a lot of factors preventing it.

I always wondered why scarecrow isn't shown as a yellow lantern. that'd h8s whole thing, and even an educated scientist in the subject. Superman is already so powerful, a gl ring would be overkill. But it would be interesting to actually see clark wield a ring, even for a short time.

But the normal yellow lantern of sector 2814 is Amon Sur, abin sur’s son.

Atrocitus is a big GL villain, he is the leader of Red Lanterns who represent rage. He used to be a family man named Atro, but his entire people were wiped and he is the sole survivor filled with vengeance and unbridled anger. One of his main trusted RL members is kid you not, a cat
And Dex-Starr (the Red Lantern cat) has one of the saddest origins in all of comics.

Here's a fun tibit about Superman and the GLC; in a Silver Age story, its revealed if Lara (Supes' Kryptonian Mom) would have been the 1st Kryptonian chosen by the ring had Krypton not exploded

I used to have this on DvD as a kid, it even came with a plastic Green Lantern ring, the memories
38:55 - Based on the other things you said, you'll appreciate a lot of the other Human Green Lanterns too. One is a graphic artist and another is an architect, and (depending on the artist in the comic) you can see those differences in their constructs.
Oh? Which is which? ^^ I know Hal and John are in the military, and only the name of others like Alan Scott the first in JSA, Guy Gardner the insufferable, Jessica Cruz the one with anxiety and Kyle Reyner. Is he the architect? I heard he makes the best contructions. And the graphic artist? :)

All the featured characters in this movie have quite a bit of stories put into them within the comics.
That said, as they touched upon in this movie, most lantern stories ultimately end pretty tragically. There's a serious bravery to the fact that they take on the job understanding that.
One you will already have seen is from First Flight, Sinestro's friend Abin-Sur Dies on Earth shortly after that meeting with Atrocitus, and his ring is the one Hal Jordan wears. He's not the only one featured here to ultimately meet a pretty grim end, either.
I love that you're reacting to more DC characters can't wait to see you react to justice league animated series.
You should react to _Green Lantern: The Animated Series_ . It's not in the same continuities as anything else you're reacting to, so there are no spoilers for anything. For me, it's the definitive version of the GLs onscreen.

Not everyone can become a Green Lantern, though you can be from pretty much any walk of life. The rings choose those who have immense willpower and the ability to overcome fear. This can take many different forms in different people, though, and each Green Lantern tends to be distinct in how they wield the ring's power and how they approach their responsibilities.
4:21 Short answer, DC wanted more characters to sell more titles (and Hal wasn't even the first GL created). The yellow ring did choose Batman one time (cause he uses fear as a weapon), but "Batman's willpower is his super power" and he refused it. And then there's Blackest Night storyline, but that's its own topic.

In the Green Lantern Mythos, Atrocitus is the founder and leader of the Red Lantern Corp. Originally a psychiatrist from a planet in the different quadrant of the galaxy, Atrocitus lost his family when the Manhunters--a race of robots and precursors to the Green Lanterns--decimated his planet. Filled with uncontrollable rage and loss and vengeance against the Guardians of Oa (mainly because they built the Manhunters), Atrocitus was able to create his own lantern ring and battery, ones forged from hatred and anger. Since then, he has recruited other Red Lanterns from worlds and civilizations lost to war, tyranny, famine, death, etc., all bearing hatred and anger like him. He even had his heart ripped out and used his own ring as a substitute, making him one of the Lanterns' greatest and seemingly unkillable foes. Also, while the Green Lanterns act as a police force for the galaxy, the Red Lanterns are comparatively a death squadron military force, more or less having a draconian means of protecting the known universe.
Funny you mention Mogo possibly being really tiny. One Yellow Lantern story tells about Despotellis, who's pretty much a sentient and microscopic virus.
Atrocitus later becomes the first Red Lantern.
There is alot of interesting characters to come from the GLs. My personal favourite is probably Jessica Cruz. Her story isn't about overcoming external fear, but internal. As a teen, she witnessed the murder of her friends and barely survived. As such she suffers from PTSD and anxiety attacks. Her will, why she was picked as a lantern, was about facing that trauma and keeping on despite it. She goes from a shut in, barely able to leave her house, to staring down DC's worst villain, her ring depleted, and telling him to get stuffed.

4:25 Each of the trinity has the capacity to be a Green Lantern or at the very least utilize a Green Lantern ring but they also each have a larger affinity with a differing corps. Batman has a slightly better affinity with the Sinestro Corps(yellow/fear), Superman with the Blue Lanterns(hope), and Wonder Woman with the Star Sapphires(violet/love) and she actually becomes a Star Sapphire during the Blackest Night event.
You should check out the green lantern animated series it goes hard into the lantern lore and delves into the different lantern tyoes

You wouldn't be able to jump around soon. The DC animated universe starts with flashpoint paradox and then goes into justice league war. From that point on you're gonna have to go in order. They had another reboot in 2020 with darksied war. It started with Superman: Man of tomorrow and then goes into the long halloween and then so on and so forth

To answer your question, each of the Lantern Corps are powered by a different emotion on the emotional spectrum. The stronger one feels that emotion, the more power the Lantern can project. These are the different Corps and the emotions they serve:
Red: Anger
Orange: Greed
Yellow: Fear
Green: Willpower
Blue: Hope
Indigo: Compassion
Violet/Star Sapphire: Love
As well, there are two ultra powerful Corps that aren't on the spectrum.
Black: Death
White: Life
i would totally recommend the green lantern animated series (2012) if you want a fun dive in to the green lantern lore from an animated media form.

There are a lot of different lantern corps across the universe ✨ each of them powered by a different color that makes up the emotional spectrum. A lot of the best lore in the DC universe comes from the green lantern comics.

Ironically, Nathan Fillion will be playing a Green Lantern in the upcoming Superman Legacy movie. Not as Hal Jordan, but as Guy Gardner - he's known as a saucy, lippy hothead with a bowl cut (and apparently Fillion will have the bowl cut hairdue, which is hell yeah! 🤘😃 Though it will most likely be a wig & not an actual haircut)

Batman wasn’t chosen because he uses fear to control crime. There are some comics where he gets a green lantern ring I think it was apart of the “Countdown” series. Superman has enough powers but also I don’t think he has really ever had to test his will and courage until he had to fight Doomsday. Earth has had three or four green lanterns by the time Superman fights Doomsday. Also in the animated series Superman gets violated mentally by one of his villains and the green lantern rings tend to weed you out of the running when things like that happen.
Back when I used to read JLA (Justice League of America) in the late 90's early 2000's, Kyle Raynor was the Green Lantern of that team and because he was a graphic artist, his constructs would be these cartoonish designs like mechs he'd ride in, giant sci-fi Lazer guns etc, he was a fun GL. In one story he had to contain a super nova from an exploding artificial sun named Solaris with just his will power, dude's nose was bleeding and everything. Green Lantern John Stewart was an architect and soldier sp you'd see him with like military weapon constructs. In the Injustice series, Lobo got a Green Lantern ring and used a penis shaped construct to defeat Attrocitus. I keep saying I can't wait for you to get to the Justice League stuff to see all these heroes interact, at least in the DCAU continuity and later in animated movies, in Justice League especially you'll see some Green Lantern related stuff. I've read plenty of Green Lantern over the years, but it is nice seeing Hal be a mentor instead of the "Hot Mess" Hal I'm used to seeing, especially mid 90's homicidal Parallax Hot Mess Hal

Nathan the voice of Hal Jordan was in The Suicide Squad 2021 as a villian with arms that split from his body. Now Nathan will be in James Gunn's DCU as Green Lantern Guy Gardner starting with Superman Legacy.

You definitely need to watch Green Lantern: The Animated Series.
It's honestly the best adaptation of Hal and the GL Corps they've ever done.
ROY G Biv : Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet. Each of these colors has their own lanterns. Each color represents something different and there was an entire saga. I think it was the Blackest Night series where they talk about each color and the lanterns for those colors.
If you want to know more about Green Lantern outside of these films, reading Geoff Johns' Green Lantern is the go to for Green Lantern. It really gives you everything you need to know while telling a great story. And on top of that, Green Lantern had an animated series called Green Lantern The Animated Series made by Bruce Timm, the guy behind Batman: The Animated Series and Superman: The Animated Series. Highly recommend it.
I'd recommend the Green Lantern animated series as well - it delves into the broader mythology of the Lanterns, and of some of the other lights and their Lantern Corps as well.

Hopefully Superman/Batman Apocalypse is coming soon. DC Animated is unmatched.
While they're separate stories as movies, I'd do Superman/Batman: Public Enemies first, as they're both adapted from stories in the same series of comics, and Public Enemies was the first arc, while Apocalypse was adapted from the second arc.

Seeing you react to Green Lantern content makes me remember DC's The New Frontier movie, which I'd strongly recommend.
I'm convinced the Green Lantern aspect is actually courage, given the emotional spectrum the other rings represent, but the Guardian's just don't like using the term so they rebranded it as Will.

If you want more Green Lantern media I would highly reccomend checking out the *Green Lantern Animated Series* , its such an underrrated and fantastic show that highlights how amazing the character and cosmic side of DC truly is with some amazing writing and characters, sadly it was cancelled after only one season so it doesnt explore everything to do the lore and mythos but it certainlyis an excelllent season that had so much untapped potential for more.The Green Lantern lore and mythos in general is so creative and sci fi epic that it could even rival Star Wars sci fi lore. *The Geoff Johns Green Lantern comics* were groundbraking to revitalising the character and adding so much interesting and captivating stories surrounding the Green Lantern Corps, Emotional Spectrum and the entire intergalactic side of the DC Universe.
Out of all these stories I really love Kilowog, Mogo's and Abin Sur's stories.
I think the reason some of the animation in this movie isn’t as good is because it was rushed to make sure it released around the same time as the Ryan Reynolds live action movie. In fact, I think the reason this movie exists at all was to tie into that movie. Also, since you brought up the idea of Batman becoming a Green Lantern, you should read Batman: Darkest Knight, it’s an elseworld story about a universe where Batman becomes Green Lantern
If the quality of the animation seems to vary, it might be because they spent less money on some sequences in order to spend more on others. The animation of these movies is outsourced to animation studios in Korea and sometimes Japan, and there's somewhat of a "you get what you pay for" thing when you do that, so if the project has a limited budget but they want some sequences to look particularly nice, they can prioritize those sequences by de-prioritizing others. Kind of like how live-action TV shows might do a bottle episode to afford a more expensive episode later in the season or whatever.
Or it could be that they had to fix some stuff in-house at the last minute. That sometimes happens too.
Oh, btw...Justice League: The New Frontier is a completely standalone movie if you just can't wait to get a taste of what the Justice League is. It's a very specific take on the premise, set in its own reality, but the fact that it's a self-contained team origin story might make it a good candidate.

I strongly encourage you to watch BTAS and STAS before watching Justice League, because there is continuity all of those series. You could probably watch Batman Beyond and GL:TAS whilst watching Justice League though!!! That will allow you to jump around and feed your ADD brain :)
I might even encourage you to check out new GL movie starring John Stewart before you start Justice League, just so you can get a proper introduction and origin to his story, as I don't recall if they give his origin in the show.
Young Justice is its own thing entirely, but I would still watch it after Justice League, just because.

I wonder how and why Mogo became a green lantern. and how Mogo is a living planet. Did it become that way because a green lantern life form died on mogo and that lifeform's spirit and all the magic from that life form's ring all possess the planet?
I think it's just the nature of the planet is one hivemind (every tree, every bacteria-like organism deep in the ground etc.) and that mind was chosen by a ring.

Guardians are the source of the entire ring mechanism and lantern system. They're judgement is meant to be flawed at times, and the true source of green light is not them, but they guide the corps.
The other heores wanst chisen because destiny played a part in their lives. March of us are destined for something.
