  • More Campbell rarities from @BringBackMyYesterdaybyDee channel on UA-cam & GLEN CAMPBELL: A CAMPBELLOLOGY FOR FANS ON FACEBOOK at: / glencampbellacampbello... . ~The original score for the 1969 film TRUE GRIT was composed by Elmer Bernstein with lyrics by Don Black and and was recorded at Paramount Pictures Recording Stage M during February, March and May of 1969.
~Fans of the film may be surprised to learn that the iconic title song performed by Glen Campbell at the start of the film was not the original version created for the film. The original recorded by Glen had a simple arrangement and orchestration with a Texas brushpopper flavor featuring sad western harmonica. Post-recording, it was deemed to be unmarketable from a late sixties' pop music perspective for Glen's developing TRUE GRIT album (and single) and therefore was cut from both the film and Glen's known Campbellology for over 50 years.
Along with Al De Lory and orchestra, Glen re-recorded the "True Grit Theme Song," nailing the hit version we all know and love today.
~Soundbites from both title song versions as well as other music recorded by Glen Campbell for the TRUE GRIT film are included on this YT music video. These soundbites include excerpts from demos, alternates and other music that never made it to the film's soundtrack and Glen's TRUE GRIT pop album (Capitol Records, 1969).
