The sudden and hilarious violence and skipping over unnecessary monologues with a headshot is how you know this is truly a RocketJump masterpiece
You would expect the villain to talk for two minutes while the main character listens to him. Instead just shoot him in the head.
More TV shows and anime shoud do that more imo, villans monologing while their motive is going nowhere is driving me nuts and begs me to kill them off earlier. Although this could be a bad idea in the long run.
My favourite subversion of that trope is in Watchmen (spoiler) where the heroes interrupt the villain speech with the old "you'll never succeed" shpiel. The villain looks at them confused and retorts:
"Dan, I'm not a Republic serial villain. Do you seriously think I'd explain my masterstroke if there remained the slightest chance of you affecting its outcome? I did it thirty-five minutes ago."

Diesel's line about Digimon makes it sound ruthless and suddenly very appealing.

SPOILERS S1
The youngest character; TK has to deal with the death of his Digimon
Kari, a child, has to choose between her own life and that of her brother/friends. Giving herself up to a meglomaniac bad guy who has overtly threatened to slit her throat.
In order to save the universe both TK and Kari (children) have to order their Digimon to shoot their respective brother's with no garuntee that they'll survive.
By the end they have to give up any hope of ever seeing their Digimon again to seal the Digital World.
(Also they actually kill the villains they fight)
SPOILERS S2
The big-time enemy is a brainwashed child who went on to enslave the Digiworld.
Kari has what appears to be depression from her childhood escapades and is constantly fighting not to fall into the "darkness" (aka be spirited away to an invetween world)
TK is triggered by the Digimon that killed his years ago, and sees no issue with revenge.
Not even touching on character's backstories or how the emperor has lived in the shadow of his dead older brother for years.
Oh! Almost forgot the episode where the Emperor dangled the Digidestined over a canon, and asked one of them to choose which one would live, condeming all the others to death.
(There's a lot more it goes particularly dark with Tamers. Hell in S4 there is a character that is in a coma, and you never realize it cause his consciousness was transferred to the digitalworld. But if he were to leave the world he'd likely die.)
I like how the show slowly became less of an anime and more of a show as the story progressed.
i thought it might be because of the focus on prestige TV city and how that has an effect on the story elements/tropes, references, and even camera direction :)

Finally a main character with a gun in their hand who know what to do with it when the evil guy is standing right in front of them having their evil monologue! That was so satisfying...

I can't remember their names but it was during season one when the bad guy had the one chicks friend hostage and slit her throat with a razor when she could have killed him with a shotgun he gave her.

A mother's death happens for character development, but taking the one thing a character needs to live puts them in a despair arc until a character motivates them again.

Diesel’s digimon crest necklace changed to the crest of hope(yellow) in the beginning of the episode and then changed to the crest of courage(orange) at the end.
It changed from blue and red during different shots of the beach lather scene
It also flips between friendship(blue) and love(red) between shots of her interacting with Joe. We just need to see knowledge(purple), reliability(grey), sincerity(green) and light(pink). Also kindness(purplish) depending on what season.

Alberto Musolas P I mean, it’s entirely possible that he missed, but I don’t think the ending sound was an explosion. The sound felt like it dropped off too quickly if something exploded, and it’s more likely just him missing

This episode was insane with it’s many plot twists and emotional moments. These moments are why this is the best anime adaption I have ever seen in my lifetime. That’s why it’s never going to be knocked off the top spot of my list for as long as I am on this world.
P.S ProZD is absolutely an amazing actor and fitted his character perfectly since he loves anime and knows a bunch of references by heart
Idk why but there’s something about hearing older and elderly people speak of anime that just makes me happy. Here’s to hoping that they at least look into it after this show

That's what I'm hoping for, but Diesel also killed someone mid-monologue this episode. In doing this, RocketJump explicitly broke a trope so they wouldn't have to pull a punch, and I'm kinda scared that they're going to do the same thing with what would presumably be the bait-and-switch gunshot.
I mean that's how it would work in an Anime, but Joe did just reference GoT right before hand. They don't mess around with that shit there.

I'm so happy this is longer than season 1!! This is one of my favorite series and I don't even watch anime, my friends do so I know some of the things, but not all and it's still brilliant.
