I am looking to to put down vinyl wrap on the roof of my car. Would you recommend I use Primer 94 or edge sealer for where the wrap will be trimmed inside the weld channels of the roof?
Hey, Chris...can this be used for improving adhesion of tape such as being used to mount a foam weather strip for a tonneau cover? Are there specific tapes that this works with? Is there any potential for damaging the weatherstrip. Thanks.
My worry is whether there is a time limit when you need to apply the film on the primer? When it's wet, or when it's dried after 5-10 minutes, or you can still apply the film on the primer after 1 hour of it being dry?
I will be wrapping an offroad buggy that has aluminum panels and a fiberglass hood and have 2 questions. For leading edges that will get blasted with dirt/rocks should I use the primer 94 or the edge sealer? They seem to do the same basic thing just different applications. Also most panels are painted but some are bare metal. Should I paint those bare panels with something first for better adhesion with the wrap? Thank You
I have an oxidized hood (clear coat is gone). Can I apply 1080 3M film to this? Would I need primer to assist? Is Primer usually necessary on the contours of a hood?
First you apply the 3M primer on the surface where you think/know you will need that extra grip, then you apply the film? My questions is, do you first apply the film and just before the moment where you need to place the film, you apply the 3M primer there and while it's still wet, apply your film on top of it? Er you apply the primer, and by the time you start wrapping that piece, the primer will dry and then you apply the film over the primer?
Thank you, excellent video. I have a question. Im about to wrap my boat (23' freshwater) im using 3m gloss black and its not precut. Id like to prime the lower edges that will be in the water. how do you suggest applying this if im not exactly sure where the lower edge will be. It will be a 23'x~4' section in one piece. i plan to lay on the vinyl, tape off the lower edge i like, then cut. also, if primer runs is it like glue? Thank you
Hi can I ask for some advice please I'm thinking of vinyl wrapping my kit car instead of painting it. Dose the vinyl stick to the primed fibreglass panels or would the car need painting first ?? Thanks Ray
Hi. What would you recommend for removing the primer (other than adhesive remover spray) after a removal that has been on for a long period of time? (Chemicals, Heat, Steamer? etc?)
Hi, I used some primer (3M PRIMER WP-3000) when wrapping my motorbike's fairings. Now that I am removing the vinyl the primer is still there and I can't seem to be able to remove it. The only thing I haven't tried is Acetone, but since my fairings are made of ABS, it would damage them. Any idea of what I can use ?
Would a person find residue left behind from adhesive on knifless tape? I'm a little hesitant on combining the two on such an exposed edge where bumps and specs could be picked apart.
Does anyone know where it's is possible to purchase the adhesion promoter? I only need a very small amount for a couple of tricky spot that keep lifting. Or can someone recommend something else I could use that would possibly be available from bunnings for example?
Hi. I have a question - what is the primer, it is just removing grease or doing something else? Because I am searching for primer in my location but I have found only grease remover and supplier says that it has same characteristics as primer. Is that true?
I want to remove my car's carpet and replace it with a vinyl wrap so the paint will not get scratched. do you think the 3M's Vinyl Car Wrap could work? can it withstand being stepped on with possibly small stones under my shoes? If not, does 3M have any thicker products? thanks
I want to apply a carbon fiber vinyl to the interior door handle trim. The area in question has one recessed section where the vinyl likes to lift die to stress of the vinyl. Will primer 94 work on interior auto trim material.
Primer 94 will increase the adhesion, but may still not be strong enough if the stretch in the film is too large or if the substrate is not a rigid material
Primer is a great product but if used the wrong way, it will be pain in the butt for the remover few years later. I only use few wipes of primer for a car.
I didn't know much about this product but so glad I seen this video! Very well thorough
Another great video Chris. Thanks.
Wish I saw this before my first attempt. I used WAY too much primer and made a giant mess of my project. But, lesson learned!
Great video. Really appreciate your time. Ty
Chris any video or tips on wrapping the panel around the fuel cap and the fuel cap itself?

Let the primer dry before applying the vinyl. About 5-10 minute is usually enough
Can you apply graphics using a wet application after applying the primer?

Hello, does it help to heat the area before pulling off the areas where primer has been used
Thank you for the reply.
