I'm not using the edge sealer for a vehicle wrap, but the video was extremely helpful in showing me that I was on the right track when it came to the application with a paint brush and overlapping the seam. I'm applying large vinyl graphics to a drum kit. Looks great so far, but want to be sure that it lasts for more than one tour stop. Thanks again!
If I was doing a wrap on a boat and the vinyl was below the water level could I use this product to protect the exposed edge from the pressure created by the water on the boat as its cruising?? Great videos by the way, slowly working my way through them :-)
it states in the manual that you do not install on painted surfaces. But in this video you demonstrate putting it on a painted as surface. Also I would like for a video to be made for the 3M Seal tape as another reviewer had suggested as well because I am getting ready to wrap a boat I would love to know this information thank you. your videos are awesome
I agree, the dauber than is attached to the lid of the can is not very useful for detailed work. I usually just cut it off & use cheap artist brushes to apply the edge sealer. Foam applicators are also good, but i will trim them down to a narrower chisel point with a knife. No matter how neatly you apply edge sealer it is always visible on the film, so I only apply it in areas that it is really needed & also that are out of sight on a vehicle (eg. around fuel filler.)
So, you would use 3M primer to put the film itself to the surface, and 3m sealer on the edge where film meets the paint? You can't use the 3M primer for the same purpose as the sealer?
Has anyone ever used that product to edge seal a new vinyl top on a classic car? I have some areas of the install where I’m concerned that moisture could begin to breakdown the adhesive and cause the vinyl grain top to lift. Thanks for the video.

Question! So, would edge sealer work for me? I have a race motorcycle with a concave bend where a decal is. Decal is about 4 years old, and has been on-track since it started peeling so there's dirt/debris stuck. I'm sure I can clean the peeled decal area, but how would I reattach it? Would edge sealer work for me? It's very close to the exhaust/engine so the heat probably caused the issue.
If i don't have the edge sealer available but just the primer , would it serve the same purpose ... considering i would instead use the primer under the edge of the film i'm applying ..?
I am about to purchase a graphic kit for my dirtbike and have had problems in the past where the edges would come up do to the dirt. Most dirtbike graphic kits come to the edge of the plastics/fairing but don't actually wrap around the edge. Would this edge sealer be noticeable or can I put a super thin layer where it wont be noticeable?
Edge sealer can be applied in a very thin layer and it will still work. But if the film is lifting because of poor adhesion or overstretching the edge sealer is not likely to fix it. Maybe try some primer as well.
When dealing with the bottom most edge of a rocker panel as well as wheel wells, which would you recommend... wrapping off the end of the painted surface and trimming right to the edge then putting edge sealer right on that edge, OR leaving enough painted body showing (1/8in from the edge) to run a bead of edge sealer on the flat surface? I ask because I am currently wrapping a silver vehicle with dark charcoal wrap.... so any lips of silver left will be VERY obvious. But I'm afraid the wrap will begin to peel in the wheel wells and the wrap is already near its limits of stretch to make those curves (especially since this is a 4x4 used offroad... wrap is to protect from the tree branches). Edge sealer seals the edge up and tape primer is an adhesive to stick down vinyl.

I am trying to fix a car wrap from peeling more. Can I apply 3m edge sealer to paste it back and not peel more? Or should I use 3m primer?
I had the same issue, I applied tape primer first to stick it back down, and then used edge sealer to go over the wrap and fully lock it in!

The graphic is black and will be going on a black fairing if that makes any difference.
