      @eboethrasher 3 роки тому

      Can you imagine how long the episode would be?

  • @eboethrasher
    @eboethrasher 3 роки тому +5

    Yeah, Janes is driven by the rhythm section of Eric Avery on bass and Stephen Perkins on drums. Eric is from a punk/post-punk background, and Stephen is just a beast.
    Then Navarro comes in on top with his wall of guitars, and they have a great sonic combination, Navarro draws from a diverse set of influences, from metal to Love and Rockets and Bauhaus guitarist Daniel Ash and Cure guitarist Robert Smith. Then they do dynamics so well, with the shifts... and Perry loves to use delay, both in the studio and live he actually used a rack mount right on the stage, in the middle of the stage which was odd for a vocalist to have but it was important for their show. They are a very unique band who truly are the ones that brought alternative to the mainstream, along with bands like Depeche Mode and The Cure, who had hits before Nirvana even sniffed the charts.

      From now on when i try to describe the sound of Jane's i will copy and paste what you said sir hahaha. Very well put i first heard Dave play on RHCP'S OHM and was obsessed with his playing on that album ....only to find out he was not so much into that album creatively and later found out he was in Jane's. So as you do i dived into their discography and can truly say they are my all time favorite band. Side note after listening to all his material with RHCP,JANES and his solo album i stumbled across Deconstruction and as much as i love Eric and Dave with Jane's their playing and experimenting on that Deconstruction album is fucking amazing haha. I ended up buying the album and the la song single for less than £3 haha. Much Love from Scotland.

As they progressed and influenced other bands's sounds, I contended that they were my generation's Zeppelin. I still feel that way. They changed the perception of what popular music could be. As many have suggested Three Days and other Jane's songs, plus Porno for Pyros was mentioned also, i will throw in Deconstruction. It was an AMAZING one-album project by their bassist Eric Avery and Dave Navarro with a new guy on drums. With that you will hear how Perry wasn't really the lone mastermind behind the magic in Jane's. Eric just didn't crave the recognition like Perry did. But what he created without Perry is... well, godlike. And i don't throw that word around lightly.

    If your gonna do Janes Addiction you need to try “Just Because,” it’s a badass tune.

    I always thought of them as punk. They are much deeper than chili peppers, but same vein

    Anyone live in an area that had Lazerium at a Planet-arium? (south park ref, dude at history museum spoke exactly like that) They had lazer shows for floyd, zepp, hendrix, metallica, etc. They did a Lazerpaloosa with Janes, Primus, Nirvana, Alice, Pearl Jam, Screaming Trees, Butthole Surfers and plenty more I dont remember. Memory snap because this song started the show. Good times!

    If you dont do 3 days next, please consider "of course" off the same album. I think you'll enjoy the departure from standard 90s rock/metal

    The effects on the vocals are pretty standard for Jane’s. I’m not sure if he still does it live but Perry has a box (not sure what it’s called) during live performances where he can, I assume loop, and distort or put effects on his vocals real time. They’re an unbelievable and very unique band!

      He does it live still, apparently he had been using an Ibanez DM-1000 and DM-2000 at various times, obviously he upgraded, both are digital delay rack units, but he posted a couple of years back that he has now upgraded to running through an Apple live and using "U-he Colour Copy (delay) Apple Mainstage (host software) Dj Tech Tools Twister (knobs)" per his Facebook/Instagram posts.

    Much punk influence. These guys lived in the same house as the red hot chili peppers back in the beginning. Flea plays for them sometimes. Perry, the singer is the creator and I think still owner of Lollapalooza. A lot of pop music history surrounding this band and it's members.

    Heyyy Geebz!!! I discovered your channel recently and I have to say that your reviews are the most detailed and my new favorite of all the different music reviewers out there!!! It's an absolute treat to hear the perspective you share!
    Anyways, to get to my point, I would absolutely be thrilled if you could take the time to review my favourite song of all time since the release a year and a half ago!!
    I have seen you review some of my other favorite songs (Reptile, Of Matter), and if you could do a review of the song DARK by INVENT, ANIMATE, I think you will understand why I believe it will be my absolute favorite song forever!!!
    I truly believe it will blow you away with how perfect it is in every way! 🔥
    Much Love my Brother!! 🙏❤

    This song has the best bridge I’ve ever heard. I was actually at a show of theirs in Philadelphia back in about 1990. They broke up on stage and walked out after 3 songs.

    I finally got to see Jane's Addiction live 10 years ago this month, at Koko, London. Great band, great gig, in a great, small venue: www.koko.uk.com/listings/janes-addiction-30-08-2011 . First gig I've gone to on my own, and it was excellent.
    It was just after the London riots that month, which were pretty scary... when Perry introduced Been Caught Stealing it felt strange, but they rocked!

    This was the first Jane's Addiction song that introduced me to this band, back when it was released on Guitar Hero 2. I'd heard some of their other stuff in the background and never thought much of it (being young and dumb and not knowing good music when I heard it). I always loved the playful approach to the composition on this song, it's just so much fun.
    I'm still holding out here for another Protest the Hero track. I'd love to see your take on Skies from them.

    Good choice. I was 16 just smoked a bowl of orange bud someone played this on a ghetoblaster and I went wow as soon as the music first kicked in and my friend said that's what I said when I first heard it.
