Fortunately for us, ERB wrote a whole series of books about Carter and his crazy adventures in Burroughs' vividly imagined world of Mars. Having these stories read to you is as good or better than any cinematic depiction. Listening to this narrative, I've been continually struck by the wealth of Burroughs' imagination. Perhaps it is the deception born of a well honed craft, yet there is such an amazing sense of ease underlying these tales. It seems as if the stories just pour forth effortlessly out of his mind. It lends a feeling of verity to the stories, making them all the more exciting and enjoyable.
i would love to see the expression on Edgar Rice Burroughs face if he were to come back just long enough to watch the John Carter movie. it would be... Priceless :)

After listening to the next two books, I had to come back and see if this was truly as superior as my memory claims. Princess stands out head and shoulders above Warlord and Gods, indeed! Not a SINGLE touch of lazy writing, here. :)
I enjoyed the books so much that I was really looking forward to seeing the movie, but it was a disappointment. I'm really enjoying listening to this my commute.
Lol I wonder if Edgar rice Burroughs was a flat-earther. Shooting 200 miles hah. Love the story but yeah that’s not happening with a gun. Rockets with satellites yeah.
I love the John Carter movie and have watched it so many times. This is the closest ill get to part 2
The Gods of Mars would satisfy that need

He’d probably love it man. Even if it wasn’t exactly like the story, he’d most likely admire it as a beautiful depiction of the Mars he imagined.
He would have had a heart attack if he learned of the...'Asylum' version.
he would have gone back immediately due to a cardiac arrest after witnessing his story being massacred by disney
lol
I know .
I think that he would be immensely proud.
Good shout
thank you again another classic ERB was so far ahead of his time it's almost unbelievable
I love the Barsoom series. I've been a fan of sword and planet stories for a long time. Dejah Thoris is a badass.
thanks for doing this! really love these series
Thank you
That was a great great story
Great books!
Took me a while to listen to it during my work day, but overall quite excellent. Dude has some funky ideas about light, though.
Loved the movie....sigh
Thanks

which movie did you watch?
The movie John Carter made me want to read the book
@@thoe4503 Same, that's why I'm here. I just finished watching the movie for the 3rd or 4th time. I also like Prince Persia, which has a similar feel.
