i kinda find it funny how they've ultimately disregarded the fiction of baba yaga by revealing that its just an ordinary woman using hallucinogens and props to instill fear in her enemies, also, with lara remaining completely doubtful the entire time. yet, all that mythical folk tale with himiko turned out to be real with lara witnessing and believing in the extraordinary but here, she's quick to not accept.
Exactly my thought. I liked the story with Baba Yaga and her hallucinogens and how all her "magical" abilities are logical once you are out of the hallucinations (although I have no idea how she was able to fly). Then there is Himiko which is absolutely paranormal. You are right with Lara disregarding the fiction. Maybe they went with different approach in Rise (haven't finished the game yet so idk if the divine source is real (no spoilers please)
Thing about Lara is that no matter how many times she's witnessed supernatural events, she wouldn't just immediately jump to the conclusion that something is supernatural. She's an archaeologist. She uses step-by-step logic. Her line of work involves breaking down every single possibility to rationality before concluding if something is truly real or not.

Man this fight was excruciating after a while (not the video, but actually playing the game.) Thanks to +Tetra Ninja for this vid as it helped me in a couple parts. The plot twist was no surprise and I no longer have the patience for burning 30 or more minutes on a single enemy fight, overall I liked this DLC. I can't wait to use the new arrows on Trinity stooges.
I kind of, sort of hoped it was the real Baba :P. Was a bit dissapointed that she was human, if the visions was real it would have made a more scary play, but not if you know she is human in the end. After all, Lara has battled paranormal forces before.
Well there was that one part where Lara goes back through the same forest area she got lost in earlier while under the pollen hallucination. That area is much smaller than before and impossible to get lost in as Lara noted. So maybe there is something supernatural about the Vale going on? Also how did the grandmother know about Lara's father being dead as she mentioned him right before she drove Lara off the edge and since grandma was in her house in the next section past the forest, I doubt she heard Lara calling out to him from all the way up there. Maybe the real Baba Yaga is still around? Who knows.
Baba means Grandma and Yaga is her name, but she stands for old hag/witch and eats children. When I was 2-5 years old, my mother used to freak me out calling for her and that she will come for me if I dont stop doing something dumb.
Did anyone else notice that the soldiers defending Serafima were a lot like the Deathless. They were speaking Greek and didn't leave a corpse. They also dropped the same box/package thingy as the Deathless. Plus the Greek fire arrows.
One small detail I just noticed: They simulated the tension of the draw of a normal bow despite her using a compound bow. Compound bows "divide" the draw strength when fully drawn so the user doesn't feel the tension. They are good for hunting "games" exactly for that reason.

Ok i found a way how to do it. First spin the wheel and then on the right side of the wheel mechanism there is this pillar thing. You can connect the wheel above with a rope so the platforms wont move.

Ghosty Rawr Also, the short radio segment which triggers, just before the lever causes a crash under DirectX 12. It gives an "out of memory" error. Worked fine in DirectX 11 though. And i've got plenty of vram/ram (16GB, XFX RX 480, i7 4790k)
my game crashed only after i tried to exit the game, EXACTLY at the point after i pulled the leaver, it worked perfectly for 5-6 hours that i played without a single crash, and just after i tried to exit after the leaver it crashes, I don't know how they messed that up but somethings wrong there
Baba Yaga is a story about a good witch who did wishes to people that had lost faith or hope, but with every wish she did a part of her died. She was growing older, weaker some say. But then she later turned herself in a flower, so she wouldnt have to grant other wishes anymore !! I really enjoy this story..

In my opinion, this version is better - play the DLC after beating the game. In PS4, which has the DLC preinstalled it's kinda messed up because in the Soviet Installation, you can start the Baba Yaga DLC, continue with the main story and finish it after the main mission

I got this game really late , so I played through the dlc with just a bow, an auto - rifle and a pistol, this was so much easier with the sniper rifle and shotty
Chris Fossett Hi Chris, sure to start off have u actually got this mission included in the game you got? If not, you'll have to download it. Mine came included in the game. You start the mission by going to the logging came base in the Soviet Installation and find a girl in one of the lockers in the sawmill. Talk to her and the mission will begin. You'll need to defeat some Trinity guards first. You may also need to complete the Acropolis mission first to get grapple axe. I can't really remember now but I was playing the game and it popped up that I could do the baba yaga mission so there are some tasks you need to have completed in order to start it. Google it to check

I done this DLC yesterday, and the whole time I was cursing the developers. Such a high level of difficultity for a non optimized character movements. The plataform parts would be really easier if made with Lara of shadow of the tomb raider. Lara has gained an huge upgrade between these games.
Running with the wildlings was awesome :) I'm obsessed with the outfit too. My favorite is huntress :D I also see that you passed previous maps so fast. Even the flags were still there. Lingering for collectible items have more fun I think :)
Hey, I'm trying to play this DLC as well but since I downloaded it, my xbox 360 freezes everytime I try to enter a campsite menu and everytime I make that last zipline before that collapsing bridge and the small camp. Any advice? Should I try downloading the game on my harddrive?
+DaLee H i take it you had your 360 for about 4-5 years? it's dying, same thing happened to me with madden 09 and i complained to EA many times until it did it with other games like a month later. they only last about 5 years if you play on a newer 360 it would work fine. sorry man (same happened with my ps1 and re3 and gamecube with metroid prime 2 [5 years everytime almost exactly] ps3 is sposed to be 10 years instead of 5 [shelf life] but most people's ps3s died before my 360 so i think 5 is the most gaming disc drives can handle. i know if your blu ray drive dies on a ps3 you can still play downloaded games perfectly so i advise you to buy digital from now on
usually a walktrough suggests a person knows where to go and what to do, (as oppose to blind play) and does it fast and efficiently, so people can see exactly what they need to do. not watch you fumble around...
yeah I found this really painful to watch, I only watched this because on pc it's bugged and the lift never descends, so many times I was like ugh how can't he see that, especially the first couple times the witch cuts the rope and Lara literally says gotta stop her from cutting the rope but he still doesn't realize ahaha

usually a walktrough suggests a person knows where to go and what to do, (as oppose to blind play) and does it fast and efficiently, so people can see exactly what they need to do. not watch you fumble around...
yeah I found this really painful to watch, I only watched this because on pc it's bugged and the lift never descends, so many times I was like ugh how can't he see that, especially the first couple times the witch cuts the rope and Lara literally says gotta stop her from cutting the rope but he still doesn't realize ahaha

8 years later… newbie playing, but not really a newbie, just to this series I am. This misson has to be the worst only because of the fact that I literally needed to go back to my phone to know what the heck to do. 😭 I normally just figure it out by myself. Nope not this time. I kept getting so confused. This game better know it’s fun, other wise I wouldn’t be on it.
Playing this atm and I’ve got as far as past the flowers and into where the waterfalls are. I need to break through the door but I don’t have a bow and arrow on me. Is there any way to go back in the game? Or am I royally screwed now. It just keeps reloading from this point

Apparently this bug can be fixed by exiting the game, and then reload the save game.

when i reach the sawmill in soviet installation i don't find 3 metal locks and it's night time but urs its showing daytime. i downloaded the game from internet is that the reason i'm unable to unlock baba yaga and no pink circle shows in map.. as in this video u have shown to purchase baba yaga the witch for ROTTR.
