- The triangular market place was the centre of the Medieval town of Wigton, which received its market charter in 1262. On the site where the memorial fountain now is, stood a wooden Market Cross. Many of the buildings around the market place are of Georgian style, and the upper storeys have altered little.
In the market place is an elaborate 19th Century fountain erected in 1872 by George Moore of Whitehall in Mealsgate, in memory of his wife. It is built of granite.
Wigton is "Wicga's tūn", "Wicga" is an Old English pre-7th-century personal name meaning "a beetle" (as in "earwig"), while "tūn" is Old English for a demarcated plot, a "homestead" or "village", so Wigton is "the hamlet belonging to Wicga"

@@IanSmith-pi7gp Yes, been putting quite a bit on YT lately. got another 2 to upload in the next month or so. I try to do a few so when it's too wet or windy like at the moment, I've always got something to upload. Just recently did Aspatria church, quite a few views on it.
Three more amazing facts: There's a Roman cavalry fort just outside. Charles Dickens stayed at the old hotel. My mum grew up there. 😁

@@davidharle952 Put 'Olerica Roman fort' into Google maps - it's just south of Wigton, near Red Dial. Hasn't been properly excavated yet, but you can still see it.

Yes they are. The building for their headquarters is nothing more than a shitty little unit on an industrial estate. Poor old Wigton ,no other town is stupid enough to have the BNP.

There is a possibility that their Wigton H.Q is just a red herring to hide the real location of their headquarters.

@@davidharle952 It takes a decent video, doesn't it. I just have a bit of trouble with an intermittent signal in urban areas on mine, otherwise its excellent.
@@theboy-uk I bought the one with the standard controller, rather than the new RC. I heard so many things about disconnections and they had the same problems with that other RC they brought out some time ago for the Air2 /Air 2S.
I know if you increase the hight it helps with those problems as it could be Wi Fi interference from houses. Hope it all gets sorted soon. Have a look at GavinHR, he's good with giving help on these subjects.
@@davidharle952 I have RC-N1's from my old Mini 2 (that I still use when the Mini 3 misbehaves), and a spare one from the Mavic 3 (as I now use the utterly brilliant, if overpriced, RC Pro on that), but its not helping with the issues I (and many others) are seeing. Though as an iPhone user, I can't use these older controllers in this weather due to Apple's screen dimming - so the DJI RC is the only viable option for me currently in the summer. Its more of an annoyance, than an unsurmountable problem, as I can work around it in other ways, such as moving location and stitching in post edit, or simply by using the Mini 2 that doesn't suffer this.
I follow GavinHR, though notice he doesn't really have signal issues.

It's always like that at this time of the year, they have young and are threatened by the drone, probably think it's some sort of hawk or something similar.
