  • We continue our epic British Columbia backcountry riding adventure alongside Ski-Doo’s Reach for the Summit Sweepstakes winner, Elliott Siewert and Ski-Doo riding ambassadors Carl Kuster, Tony Jenkins and Rob Alford. In this second of a two-part segment, AJ, Luke and the others seek out some sweet side hills, jumps and overall insane mountain riding like no other!
Luke hosts a comparison of the growing 4-stroke turbo segment involving the 2019 Ski-Doo Renegade X-RS 900 ACE and the 2019 Yamaha Sidewinder L-TX SE and helps decipher which turbo sled may be better suited for you.
And in Test Ride, Motorhead Mark rekindles all his fond memories of Arctic Cat’s iconic lake racer with his review of the 2019 Thundercat ZR 9000 137.

These are my favorite episodes. Showing us flat landers what we can only dream of. Also watching really skilled mountaineers on these things.

When it comes to skidoo and Yamaha turbo there is 0 lag in the sidewinder because of the closed lope cant say about ski doo turbo have not road one but after 6000 miles on sidewinder and we have three of them I can say the clutching and belt problems and the rails and the tunnel coming apart at the ribbits we go ride a come back and repair almost every time clutching are junk and tunnels are junk as well ! cant beat the mortor best 4 stroke out there ! I have ben all Yamaha from back in the 70s but I have hade enough qc has went down hill since cat and Yamaha started working together I thought is was going to be a good thing but truth is things don't hold up so we have decided to move on so for 2020 we snow check two Polaris xc 137 850 I road the ski doo 850 and was not impressed and I road the Polaris and wow what a nice sled looking forward to trying out are new 850s next winter Yamaha lost out I have spent about $200,000 with Yamaha in the past 8 years now Polaris will be getting my money as long as they hold up and I think they will see you on the trails be safe !!

Yeah no kidding, he makes it sound like it’s by far the most impressive speed demond sled out there yet doesn’t want to admit it’s a Yamaha powerplant under its black and green Sidewinder, Viper, SRX and most recently, Yamaha Venture hood.
His commentary belongs back in the 90’s when Thundercats did turn heads but mostly because they were a rear sighting to see on the snow and not in the shop.
Also...In my opinion I find it hard to get excited over the styling of these sleds when the whole look is shared between 2 companies seemingly as rival as Jeep vs Hummer owners in the past.

    • @BigRiverLabrador

Sidewinders and new T cats still don’t have the top speed my 98 Tcat had. I suspect factory gearing has much to do with that.

The video was great. Happy for Elliot for winning the sweepstakes. But the comment about riding the sled like it was a rental is B.S. I own a rental company and people abusing the sleds is why rentals cost so much at rental companies. If people would treat the sleds as good or better than there own it would be more affordable for everyone. The whole point is to have fun but there is a difference between using and abusing equipment. People abuse and wreck sleds and then the rental company is the bad guy for expecting them to cover the cost to repair the sleds. Have fun but respect other people’s equipment.

Hilarious, we ride the coastal range of B.C. and to hear that 180 hp is more than any sledder ever needs. I build my own sleds based on old Polaris parts, I say parts because there isn't many stock parts left on them, 1 twin and one triple @ 800cc pushing 160 plus and one sled called Hankenstein @ 290hp and over 320 on appropriate fuel. My arms grow by 2 inches when I ride that monster.

have a 98 srx Yamaha MOUNTAIAN (3 fan boys cum in pants) Im going to say she is a solid 150. 530 lb rtr. which makes these new sleds pooches on paper. Mountain mods will never die! still prefer my rg bd pro/axys mod lol but I ride the old srx more. fox shocks and 155 assault skid help a lot
