More important than speed is that it doesn’t take much energy to ride after you’ve become a little bit skilled. It’s much easier than walking anywhere.
I am an avid unicyclist myself. The best way I can describe it is balancing a broomstick on your palm. Steering is partially leaning but it's also like spinning in an office chair using only your upper body, but if you ride for long enough you eventually get away with doing anything with your arms, steering with only your shoulders and start-stop forces in the cranks. Just remember, no matter how good a unicyclist may seem, there was a point when they were entirely dependent on walls and handholds. Also, If you know how to pogo stick congratulations you already know how to hop a unicycle.

Like, for the unicycle to carry? They’re pretty strong. I’ve seen some really big people ride without particular difficulty, and there are long-distance riders who carry huge saddlebags.
Woman/women beating men's records in any physical regimen or sport is very rare due to the genetic and sociological advantages men have. Men, on average, have heavier skeleton, more muscle mass(mainly due to testosterone), more efficient respiratory system. Competition is more ingrained in men than women, which is why you typically see more men at the top even in games where the advantages listed above don't give significant benefits.
Is this like… some sort of virtue signaling to ask about something you already know? “The best of the demographic with an average physical advantage set a record… She’s not part of that demographic, but she beat the record anyway!” Are you suggesting it’s some sort of insult? Because it sounded like just the opposite.
