Wtf do you want? My parents have financial problems, i live in a trashy small city in a small trashy country, where i cant spend 50 dollars on a basic white shirt, so i spend 10 dollars on one
Ppl ain’t gonna cancel brandy. I told some people about urban outfitters racist clothes and they were like well that’s my number one source of clothing so.
Marie a lot of brands we shop at support trump becuz they know trump will create policies that will benefit these large businesses it’s disappointing but unavoidable corporate greed is a sad thing
hey y’all, make sure to TRY to shop for at least SOME of your clothes on depop, at thrift stores or even learn to sew some of your own clothes! brandy isn’t the only brand like this and we need to stop contributing to fast fashion!
(edit) Thank you guys for the replies! i know understand that boycotting brandy is also not buying it second hand. (og comment) Yes! i usually go thrifting, and i just downloaded depop. I have one question though, if we are boycotting brandy melville can i still buy it from de pop?
@@angie1588 you probably shouldnt shop on depop its honestly really overpriced even if it doesn't have fast fashion people on there just thrift clothes and resell them for 5x the pricee. also you about the boycotting brandy, if you want to buy it from depop do what you want but where the clothes come from isnt the problem it the whole promotion of the brand :)
Brandy Melville has always made me incredibly insecure. When I was in junior high I was at Brandy with my blonde skinny white friend and all the employees were helping her shop. Not one asked me if I needed a fitting room, and one said to me “you won’t fit that” to a shirt I was carrying. I was not overweight, I was an athlete and I had big muscular thighs. I went home and cried, the fact that that happened to me seven years ago and I still feel upset by it just shows how fucked up this store is. Like I cannot imagine how bad it is now that Brandy is even more the “it“ brand for young girls.
as a girl who shops there, I don’t find it at all problematic. i mean Victoria’s Secret was started by men, as a girl myself i feel like people don’t realize that sexism can be put towards men too and at the end of the day it’s just a business. it’s marketing, it’s what sells and that’s business. not a big deal.
@@alicia_grace nobody said they were pedophiles, its the fact that the brands image is of one select "ideal" body type and skin colour of young women, and is directed and controlled by men that makes it especially gross
miss skinnywannabe the original comment says “it makes it much worse that it is owned by two men.” now if a woman ran a men’s clothing store and somebody said that wouldn’t they be called sexist? however I will change the word pedophiles as I realize that isn’t what the original comment was implying. i did put that because on other videos people have implied it, but particularly not on here.
kenzie thank u for correcting me, I will change it but part of the reason they make one size is that it’s more cost efficient, compared to urban outfitters and such. what many people also don’t realize is that their one size policy doesn’t mean everything is small. beneath the one size tag is the actual size, which can range from xxs to xl. they are not directly implying that it is the ideal body type, it’s mostly society that makes it seem that way because of how pressured people are to fit into their clothes. at the end of the day, it’s still a business decision for profit rather than image for them.
@@vivichld um k but brandy only hires WOMEN to work for them(idk what world you're living it if you think that's not creepy. like a full adult man only hiring teen white girls um sis), their whole insta page is of WHITE women(i am a girl btw), they only have ONE FUCKING size, they most likely know what they are doing to young girls(mentally) that don't fit into brandy, they make all the woman feel bad that they can't work there because they aren't white. now(sis) stores like old navy, vans, cotton on, forever 21, and victorias secret ALL HIRE MEN NOT JUST WOMEN. and they don't just hire white people. I'm not dumb enough to think that only women run the women's fashion industry. It's just that the most racist, sexist, and excluding women's clothing brandy is run by (and ill say it again for the ppl in the back) TWO WHITE MEN THIS is what is creepy about brandy. now sis check yourself before you call me ignorant.
sami bonez I kinda agree? But most stores have all sizes so why don’t you go to those ones? So if you don’t get accepted to Harvard that means they should accept more people? I get they need to change their race issue and their employees issue but about sizing I need someone to explain the bigger issue
@@Alwayshere5031 the bigger issue is that they are feeding into a beauty standard that is fake, most girls do not look like the girls they are trying to sell their clothes to, which is in fact discriminating. it is not the same applying to a university which you work for than being discriminated from buying clothes. any girls who is a bit bigger and goes there feels bad and self-conscious about their bodies. the fact that most girls think that to be pretty you need to have the perfect body and be skinny is because of shitty brands like this. you can work hard to get into a good school but you shouldn't feel like you need to lose weight to be "trendy" or "pretty", and that is exactly what brandy melville advertises.
@@Alwayshere5031 the size problem is that teen girls LOVE and i mean praiseee brandy clothing because brandy does fast fashion, but some girls dont fit into it which makes them feel left out/excluded. for example there was a yt vid where 90-95 lb girl and a 110-125 lbs girl went to brandy to try on the same clothes. since brandy only has a one size policy they had to get the same size obvi. the 90lb girl was confident saying it fit her perfectly and she loved them. the 110lb girl wasn't confident, liked the clothes but didn't like how it looked on her, made her so insecure they didn't show what one of the outfits looked like on her. I could tell the 110lb girl felt sad, insecure, and just wanted to leave. the 90lbs girl did NOT acknowledge that at all. this is what is wrong with the size injustice. its creating insecurities. yes ppl that dont fit into brandy could just shop at a different store but there are still the skinny girls out there saying "omg i love brandy" "that brandy top is so cute" "lets go on a brandy shopping haul" . this just makes people that dont fit into brandy feel worse. and brandy clothes are still "so cute" which makes ppl shop there. brandy makes ppl feel overweight but in reality they are NOT , brandy models are just UNDERWEIGHT. the clothes look like they are made for UNDERWEIGHT GIRLS or KIDS. and shopping at another store doesn't make them forget that they couldn't fit into brandy. its disgusting. but i would be lying if i said i didnt have brandy in my closet. however, there are items at brandy that remind me i have a big gut, my arms are to skinny, and that my thighs are to big.
literally the only asian girl is lily chee but she’s half white and has very white features. also she was famous before brandy, probably the reason she got hired there
@@booyouwhore1717 yeah I agree but she's also east asian but I've literally seen no indian or pakistani girls on their site and i feel like people talk a lot about 'asian' girls kinda forgetting about brown girls too
right!!!! considering the fact that there's so many size 0 Asians but we never see them being promoted. it's pretty obvious brandy has a bigger issue with skin, rather than size
w yess when I was way younger after school almost everyday my grandpa took me his favorite thrift store. Sadly since COVID were not supposed to go to thrift stores.
well they’re not petite, because that means short and not necessarily skinny. they probably will get the least hate by just saying one size, even tho it’s not okay
petite clothing is technically for shorter people! look it up ++ and all their models are all tall and their pants r clearly not for petite girls (shorter girls)
Petite does not equal skinny. Petite means under the height of 5’3. If they branded themselves as petite they would need to have inclusive sizing because petite women come in an array of different sizes ranging from thin to very curvy. I’m 4’11 and their clothes are always too long on me. Brandy is just perpetuating thin-centric ideals.
Right. H&M's clothes look so much better than Brandy. and they have a BIG plus size section, along with different sizes to fit everyone. I've only had to return an item once, and it was my fault because I didn't try it on properly. But when I took it back, the lady gladly let me exchange it and even let me get it 60% off! Brandy could never.
namjooncansteponmeandiwouldthankhim definitely would not say it’s better than brandy. H&M clothes are boring and shit middle age white women would wear and theyre a fast fashion capital
"Why dont you hate plus size stores" If Brandy is meant for skinny girls then they should promote them selves as one instead of putting "one size fits all" or "one size fits most" and I know that they changed it but if they have to try that hard not to offend people they should just make other sizes or say they are a petite store
Lilian Eade I agree and I’m not defending them either but some of their items DO come in other sizes. Its not so much as them only selling xs and s clothing. They sell clothing from a size xs to a size xl even though not every item is available in multiple sizes. Again I’m not defending them I’m just stating a fact. Also, I do agree with the lack of diversity among models.
Hi just a little question -if you're in america- do "one size" mean "one size fit all" ? Bc in Europea it does'nt meant that at all, it just mean it a one sized that can fit different size but it does'nt have to fit specifically one. Sorry I ai'nt English fluent, I hope you understood x)
brandy has *been* cancelled, and this is just another reason why they should be. unfortunately young teenagers aren’t gonna stop shopping there and the problems r just gonna continue
tresa maria bc people refuse to accept the fact that brandy is a horrible brand and they keep shopping and promoting their brand bc it’s “the only place that they can find cute clothes” but i don’t think that they realize that we can’t find cute clothes edither
Erin Craven I think she means don’t shop at a place if you don’t think that the company would want you to work there because you don’t fit the “image” that they’re trying to make.
พิชญภัทร ชูตระกูล I don't even understand, in addition to being racist and disrespectful, they don't do their job! they are supposed to sell not reject people ...🤦♀️
I don’t know if anyone mentioned this yet, but at Brandy Melville in Hong Kong I’ve seen ONLY WHITE employees that are tall, skinny with blond hair basically who look like models. I think thats really weird considering you wouldn’t usually see any white sale assistants at any other stores in Hong Kong BUT Brandy. And the fact that they prefer white employees EVEN IN HONG KONG THAT IS IN ASIA is so problematic.
I know right! Why would they hire girls that only speak English at a bm store in Hong Kong where most people speaks Cantonese? I was shopping there and a local customer was asking for help and the employee was like “sorry I don’t speak Cantonese” srsly??
Like most of the employees I saw were white girls and only a few Asian American girls, they all look like models, acted cold, and none of them speaks Chinese
right! like last time i walked past none of them were speaking chinese which is weird and very confusing to the people in hong kong who dont speak english that well
omg literally. im from hk and i hate this brand. ive been to the shops before, and even through this is Hong Kong, the white people who work there still seem to be racist and not like it when asians shop there. the employees are all white skinny teens and they are only nice to other pretty white girls. i feel so bad and ashamed whenever i walk past that store.
how can a brand force that? Do African brands force you to be coloured? or plus size stores to be overweight? there are different brands for different body types, ages etc. I don't get how clothing forces you to be something
@@mvls5878 f African brands and plus sized brands come out of necessity. African brands come from businesses not accepting other cultures and plus sized brands exist bc nobody made clothes for them and if they did they were ugly, cheap, and overpriced.
Alex Lake on me bro. all my friends ask where i get my clothes and i say the thrift store, at first they’re like well aren’t you well off? and i’m like yeah. i’d like to continue to stay that way instead of trying to impress people i won’t see in a few years!
It’s so sad because there’s no indian girls on their website at all, there’s literally no one who looks like me and it’s just sad :( I hope they change one day but I doubt it.
Emmanuel Macron Ah oui oui yeah! It’s just sad i feel like it’s one of the least represented ethnicity’s whenever I see an Indian girl on TV Or in a AD or modelling I’m literally so surprised💀 and that shouldn’t be the case, I literally did not feel normal when I was younger because I never saw anyone like myself so I felt like I was supposed to be excluded which is just sad! X
İrem Çam Aw yeah me too! Because when brands like brandy are only posting white tall skinny girls (and a few token black girls) it just makes it feel very clichy (sorry idk if I spelt that right) and makes so many people who love their clothes excluded, but yeah I agree I hope it gets better and better because I like their clothes but not their ethics ❤️
@@aman8086 yeah you are right! The current models are really pretty and ı dont have a problem with them but ı hope they also choose different models from different cultures ♡
I see girls discussing how brandy’s a store for more petite and thinner girls. That’s completely false. It’s a store that has a “one size fits all” aesthetic. If they really were a store for petite girls, they’d carry more sizes that would be more or less petite, like have an xxs or more, like actual Petite stores do. But they don’t, they just carry a small size and brand it as Petite when it’s really just a store encouraging girl to fit into one size, wether that means thinner girls gaining weight to fit into the clothing or larger girls losing weight to fit into the clothing.
yeah exactly lol. i am from italy and lived there but they EXIST. like....they are there. just bc they are small percentage..it doesn’t mean they don’t exist lmso
sick and tired of seeing "i feel bad for buying from brandy BUT-" what "but"??? if you really felt bad you wouldn't buy it? would understand if the clothing was cheap and they can't afford other options but they're so expensive? and in america don't yall have walmart and thrift shops with such a wide selection? nope don't get it
we even have thrift like stores where brands sell the clothes to the store because some got damaged in shipment and are forced to throw out the rest of the clothes just cause.
I love brandys style of shirts and I had just found them and I barely saw that style anywhere 😔 I had looked in a thrift shop for hours and hadn’t found anything that I liked that I feel like complimented my body cuz I am a tall skinny girl so they’re clothes would work for me, it’s really too bad that they’re so racist in stuff 😭
The fact that is an Italian brand does not mean stuff. I'm italian and well... We have our racism problems! It doesn't mean anything being an Italian brand. Also,it has turned more American than italian, since we have like ten shops!
i once was in a brandy store with my friend that is a little shorter than me (5‘6 im about 5‘7) and i am not skinny but i feel comfortable im my body. keep in mind we are both 14. so we went into the store and all the girls working there looked at me with such a bad face because i was holding a clothing piece for my friend and the whispered about me and made me feel bad. i didn’t even want to buy anything but still the talk shit about you
Please tell me you reported them to corporate for body shaming and bullying. Their manager may not do something, but the head should. And if they don't, that is a huge lawsuit 🗿
frr one time i was asking if this skirt was any longer because the length ended just below my butt which was way too short and this girl gave a weird look . the vibe in the store isnt great
Me too but I got targeted slightly worse- I'm 5'8", and a size 6-8 you can see my body type @edie_huo, and I went into a Brandy shop because i liked their logo. Before I had even picked anything up to try on, the girls working walked over and I quote said" You can't fit in that." I walked to another display and ANOTHER worker said "You know you cant fit in anything here right" andI walked out becauseYOU ARE ASKING FOR MY MONEY not the other way around.
everyone arguing against my video is again talking about size and disregarding the discrimination among POC and their silence on BLM edit: if u don’t want to scroll down 200+ comments, here’s the summary on the tea: people are arguing that 1. white privileged isn’t real 2. all lives matter 3. assuming i’m hopping on a bandwagon for making this video 4. brandy doesn’t have to speak up my response: 1.) I- 2.) saying black lives matter doesn’t mean all lives don’t. saying black lives matter is to bring attention to george floyd’s death and the current racial injustices that continue to occur. black lives are the ones being hurt right now so we have to say “black lives matter” to shed light on the racial injustice 3.) I found out about brandy a year ago. made my first video on brandy 10 months ago. i talked about racism but was scared to get deep bc i didn’t want to assume. however, i have learned a lot in the past few weeks bc of BLM so i have chosen to speak out louder than before. i also could not have spoken out about george floyd’s death before george floyd’s death occurred. 4.) in staying silent, brandy is complicit in situations of injustice. this is a human rights issue. also with that big of a plat form u have to ask, why haven’t they spoken out? why wouldn’t they speak out? no obvious reason other than they do not support BLM. it’s not hard to speak out mind u, the person arguing these things claims to be in favor of black lives. although their heart is in the right direction, these arguments are contradicting about size: i understand the clothing is meant for people who fit them. if so, Brandy should make a statement identifying themselves as a petite clothing brand to stop girls from wanting to lose weight to fit into their clothes. not once has brandy ever spoken out about anything. with a massive platform why wouldn’t u say something
stop creating drama about race. you never cared abt black ppl before. now there being targeted and your jumping on the wagon to make yourself look good. i have cared about blacks for my whole life i have more black friends than i do white.
Melody Berasi BLM is not a band wagon to me. the past weeks have showed the true colors of many clothing brands bc many remain silent or even take the side of injustice. it also sounds like u are trying to say u care more for black people than i do... which is a useless argument that distracts from the real issues which we both agree on. we want the same thing so why use your time to fight me rather than something more constructive
i feel like crying, you spoke facts in this video. how normalized having one set of beauty standards is sick and horrible on young impressionable women(and men.) I've always struggled with certain clothing because i always felt as if i needed to be skinnier to make it look better just because thats what I've seen on the media. i wish we were shown growing up cute clothing styles on all body types.
But you have Fashion Nova. I am a latino male. Why can't you let white girls live and let them have their own brand? Latinos and Blacks have Fashion Nova, let European girls have their brands too...all should be equal. You don't have to shop at Brandy Melville, you can go shop at a store that fits your body but don't take that away from others that enjoy shopping there. Just my honest opinion as a guy who sees his caucasian girlfriend shopping at a store she likes and doesn't want it shut down.
OliverK80 i seen you everywhere in this comment section, at let me tell you, HAVING A WHITE GIRLFRIEND DOESNT MAKE YOU ENTITLED TO JUDGE A MULTIRACIAL FEMALE PROBLEM.
“when you buy a product, you’re buying the person the product promises to make you.” CHILLS. (from girls who used to stress over not fitting into brandy Melville, thank you for making this video ❤️)
Also, can I just say their BLATANTLY xenophobic shirts that said “we grew here, you flew here” released in 2013, if I remember correctly. Someone DESIGNED this shirt, passed it onto manufacturing, and LITERALLY sold it in stores and nobody said “maybe this design isn’t a good idea”
Oh you mean the we grew here you flew here California shirt. Lmfao they’re basically saying we grew up in California you came here later on. Nothing to do about immigrants lmfao
Everyone let's go to the thrift store !!!! Edit: omg guys thanks for the like isn't my attention to have likes but now I'm famous lmao, so I would like to say racism (and fatophobia) is horrible and yes the clothes of this brand are pretty cute but we can't support this brand and also this brand is super expensive so let's go to the thrift store to find dupe and to create an amazing aesthetic (an other tips you can steal your parents' clothes I always do this for a vintage aesthetic) and again thank you for the likes and the pinned comment (And sorry if I do english mistake I'm French) #blm ✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿
Why don’t they realize that if they were more inclusive with they’re sizes and races, they would make Wayyyyyy more money. Like do they need a slap in the face back to reality or sum??
The race part is bad... but about the sizes, yes they would make more money but they are a size for smaller girls. Most plus size stores don’t have stuff for smaller girls so...
@@ellajessee9434 Their race problems are very important to address with the sizing. they market towards skinny white girls and make it an "accomplishment" to be what they consider beautiful. You may not see how, but they are one of the most popular brands, and the fact that they show no inclusivity is disgusting. Not only are they saying with their actions that one size (meaning small) is most beautiful, but they are also tying that into being white. Also, plus size stores are for people who rarely get included in other brands (while there are many brands with smaller sizing). Though it's important to make sure both smaller girls and bigger girls get included, that is not Brandy's goal. The goal in retail is to expand sizing, not make it limited. As brands grow, they can expand their sizing, and plus-sized stores are for people who haven't been included yet. Though it wouldn't be bad to have a specific store for smaller girls (it is important for everyone to be included), that is not what Brandy is. They are a store for teenagers, and their goal isn't to make clothes for smaller girls. Their goal is to make a trendy store that markets to "the ideal" body type. Also, they are not even making clothes for girls who are TOO small for it. They are only making clothes for sizes 0 (sometimes which is too big for 0 girls)-2 (at the most because above a 2 many clothes don't fit). There are many other stores that do make sizes for smaller girls, especially because smaller is marketed as "ideal". Additionally, Brandy is a fast fashion which isn't good for the environment anyway. The best way to find a size-inclusive store that is also sustainable is by going thrifting. Not only are the clothes unique, but most people can find their size. For plus-sized girls who don't always find their size thrifting, there are specific consignment and vintage stores that cater to them. I'm not saying you have to shop sustainably, but there are many alternatives to Brandy. Brandy has shown that they shouldn't be supported and people should stop giving them money. I'm not trying to attack you, I just want to show why this brand is very problematic, and that argument shouldn't justify them.
They actually wouldn't. Brandy Melville are not unique in their clothing pieces. They sell the most basic trendy clothing and you can find exactly the same things in the mid and plus sizes at H&M and any fashion forward women's clothing retailer, often for much cheaper. It's actually their mean it girl image that sells. If they became inclusive they would have to compete with other brands. Their exclusivity IS their selling point.
Imma just say, as a tall girl, brandy is not for tall girls, their skirts are wayyyy to short for that. They're for petite ( thin AND small ) and they shouldnt act like theyre size inclusive
i remember scrolling down their insta and finding only one or two posts with a person of colour, and it didn't even show their face. what a disgusting brand :(
I would argue that the media idealizes people who are “slim thick”, just look at Kyle Jenner, Tana Mongeau, and Addison Rae. In my experience skinny girls get called all sorts of names like “bones and anorexic”. So to see a company market to skinny girls without judgement is refreshing. But I entirely agree with the race issue. Brandy needs to do better with that.
Yes id also agree with this. People say skinny is the ideal, but really it isnt anymore. As of 2014 its completely changed and it hasnt been entirely healthy either.
thats a great agurment , if the obvious discrimination made my brandy wasnt a thing , brandy wouldnt be getting so much slander about other things, its just so problematic
No, its not refreshing what is refreshing is the beauty standard swifting to the " slim thick" the 90s beaut standad was called herion chic, the models where literal bones, the same with 2000s. If you have over size S or 36 you would literally be called fat. starving was normal and ideal. Its only now the late 200s where body postivity has happend. But skinny is still a beauty standard. you see it with models, tiktok is full of teens wanting to be skinny etc. Skinny has been the standard for so long, over 30 years. And no brandy isnt marketing to skinny girls without judgement. they can do that with more sizes, what brandy does is disgusting. reinforing that women needs to be skinny. Being skiunny shamed is not the same as fatshameed. Skinny shaming is something new, its honestly like saying that white people expreince the same racism as black people which it insane. To have thing like that said, is looked at as a compliment. Do you even know how many girls have died chasin that ideal skinny body? too fucking many for too fucking long.
the fact that I'm a size 6 and these kinds of advertisement and posts made me insecure about my weight for so long that I've struggled with eating disorders and body dismorphia... I imagine what it does with bigger people you are ALL beautiful no matter what size you are
girls i KNOW how hard this is. they’re one of the only stores that has somewhat affordable trendy clothing that we somehow force ourselves to fit into. but if we all just stop buying even for a few months we can stop this!!!
Why does brandy do this you may ask? Lets talk about it. Less material = less money. Its like how runway models are often very thin- they clothe people in sample sizes because they are making more profit then they would if they actually included AT LEAST Small-Large in sizing. Yes more people would buy their clothes, but they would have to be more creative with their design and need to make more clothes that (by society standards) suit the different body types. (Leading them to need to make MORE clothes in MORE sizes) but brandy knows that that would happen- they aren’t turning a blind eye to it. They just know that they are already making good money. And they don’t want us to expect them to add more girls of color to their team after they fixed the sizing. What brandy doesnt want is they dont want to become the “next forever 21” Forever 21 makes mostly cheap, ugly, trashy clothing. But brandy doesn’t want you to feel like that about them. They want you to walk into brandy and feel like your part of a club. A skinny beautiful pretty professional club. And the girls that shop there still feel they are part of something- but thats just what brandy wants you to feel like.
ever since i first heard of brandy i vowed that i’d never shop there no matter how big the hype was. i’m latinx and i don’t feel comfortable shopping at a store with no diversity. i also don’t want to support and store that has “one size fits all” because we weren’t made to fit into one size. i’m glad everyone is catching on and i hope stores with messages such as these aren’t supported anymore. ☺️
I support body positivity, but some stores can’t be all inclusive for everybody, I’m real skinny because it’s hard for me to gain weight and it’s hard for me to find clothes but I deal with it. Some people need to learn to deal with it, the real life isn’t going to serve you stuff on a plate.
Fashion store NEED to be inclusive. They need to be inclusive fir everyone. For super skinny girls and for fat girls. For black, indian, asian, european woman. For everyone. If they don't, there feeding racism and insecuritues
It shouldn’t be associated with eating disorders. That’s the consumers fault. I don’t agree with what they are doing, but as someone with a small body. This store makes it so much easier to find clothing for people with a smaller body. It is very hard for me to find xs clothing at other stores. Just as a plus size store has clothes for that particular size, Brandy does the same thing for small people. Not that deep.
Carley Wade except in the video, the point was made that REAL petite and plus size (or anything focused on a specific body type) stores still have varying sizes, not just one size. Did ya even watch it...? Those with money make the rules for us. Not everyone has the time or energy to scrutinize every ad they see to prevent it from affecting their self image
Emma C first, I did watch it, second of all, if a store is made for SMALL people, it’s not going to have a BUNCH of sizes. Brandy has at least an xs-medium. Did YOU even read my comment?
Brandy is not just feeding insecurities to those girls who don't fit into their unisize but also, on the other hand, making those who fit feel superior. That brandy girl exclusivity you've mentioned is really really toxic and I'm so glad that you pointed it out. As someone who has also bought Brandy's clothes before, I feel this mental complex of feeling pride and assurance when I fit Brandy but also hates the brand at the same time.
i stopped shopping from brandy because of their in exclusivity and a lot of people I know said they were going to stop buying from them too. i ended up being the only on to stop shopping from brandy because it was 'too hard' for the other girls. its really not. if you are looking to start shopping from places other than brandy I recommend depop, 4 U ONLY USA, UNIF and so many other stores! its rlly not hard.
i wouldn't recommend unif because their stuff itsn't great quality for the super high prices and they blatantly rip off ideas from vintage items. look up unifcopied on ig
Tbh at first I kind of liked their clothes last year but I started to gain weight and couldn’t fit into their clothes it made me feel horrible. Also about race... they aren’t acknowledging blm , the only thing they have to do is post awareness. They need to come up with more sizes and donate money to the Blm movement’s . (Not saying that is going to fix their brand image). My physical appearance has made me feel because of this brand, because they basically want us to be tall and skinny and this is not ok! Thank you sm for posting this I hope more people see this. I really like how you spoke up we should be friends!
I just find this so unusual like?? Dark skinned people can be petite too why dont they just get some diversity and promote themselves as a petite store
@@charlottegregory1664 i think they they are fast fashion stores where the workers that make the clothes work in horrible conditions for long hours and barely make minimum wage. i am not sure if that is what they are talking about but yeah
PLEASE JUST TO LYK PLEASE SHOP AT THRIFT STORES!! A LOT OF THRIFT STORES DONATE THE MONEY TO DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS!! ALSO, IT SAVES THE PRODUCTION OF MORE CLOTHES IN FACTORIES!!
i feel like brandy is only really problematic in post places in America. I've been to some brandys in asia and the staff is so nice and so is the management. im hoping it's the same for other places outside of the states too ;
I want to add a story about a girl from my high school class that tried to apply for a brandy Melville store and DIDNT get hired because she wasn’t white. Shes asian.. and she was also a model! Her cousin who was half white half asian worked there as well and even recommended her, but due to her not being white, she wasn’t hired. Yes, she was told this too. Surprisingly, instead of giving up, this girl decided to apply for another brandy Melville and she lied saying she was half white and half asian. She got the job.
I follow Brandy and several other shops on Instagram and meanwhile literally every shop raised awareness to BLM, Brandy went on posting pictures of skinny white girls. I was like: What are you waiting for?
@-- huh? oh right. it's my fault that brandy melville makes money off of people's insecurities. I didn't get anorexia on purpose and brands like brandy triggered it.
i'm an anorexia survivor as well and these kinds of things still trigger me even though i'm fully recovered. i love brandy melville's clothes and own a lot of them, but i feel an intense pressure to stay skinny in order to keep on fitting into their clothes. i can't imagine the amount of pain i would feel if i gained more weight and couldn't wear brandy's clothes anymore, which is obviously not okay
-- A petite brand would have mainly have multiple smaller sizes brandy only has one size. Multiple petite people have said how brandy doesn’t fit them because it’s too big. Also plus size stores have multiple plus sizes not just one size. It’s definitely not a petite store.
As an Austrian (Austria borders Italy) I can assure you, that Brandy Melville has an extreme responsibility concerning racism ESPECIALLY as an Italian company. Italy had a fascist dictator during WW II and just recently got off a right populist government (now the government involves a social and Green Party as far as I know). +Due to its location (being a country at the Mediterranean Sea) Italy currently hosts a lot of immigrants and refugees. And compared to other European countries, who mainly host refugees and immigrants from Middle Eastern countries, Italy has a huge community of BPOC. That’s way a lot of Italians (keep in mind, not every Italian) are getting very territorial, patriotic and racist, because they don’t want to open up their borders to them. I hope this helped some of you and if anything I said seems incorrect to you, please tell me. I will change it :)
Yea. When I visited Italy I was made really uncomfortable because I was a tourist and therefore not italian? Made me feel not really welcomed. But actually I am part italian and big part of my family is living there. Then I wondered how other tourists would feel who look more different or even how refugees would be treated.
to anyone reading this rn, you are so beautiful and you don't have to fit society's beauty standards to be beautiful. No matter what, if you do fit the beauty standards or if you don't, you are incredible. I'm so proud of you, you are beautiful and you mean the world to so many people. YOU MATTER! you deserve the whole words and so much more, ILY!!
As someone who has been chubby/plus size as long as I can remember, I hate brands like these and the fact that they have a huge part in setting the beauty standard is fucking with a lot of people. I was so happy when I got skinny as shit but I was also at my unhealthiest: I had food poisoning that lasted for weeks which prevented me from digesting food properly and just expel them all. I was also stressed out and tired 24/7 from my internship and it made me miserable. The best I have felt was when I was eating right and/or working out regularly and not thinking about the calories. With this said, please do not buy from brands like these that you can just buy from thrift stores, boutiques, etc. All of those you see are available there if you're just willing or okay with looking through dozens of clothes. If not, that's okay too. You can also create them on your own using old clothes or completely from scratch if you want to try to learn sewing so that you know that it will truly cater to your body. Lastly, please do not compare yourselves to women on social media, specially instagram. Their photos are very much edited and altered or they starve themselves to get that skinny legend picture.
Italian clothing is usually smaller than the rest of EU clothes. When I was in Italy there were so many one size fits all shops and I couldn't fit their clothes even though I was underweight at that time. Brandy Melville clothes were lose to fitting at that time. I would like know why italian sizes are like that? It is a really toxic CI to have for a brand and I am sure they won't survive that at some point.
@@shelbylovesu4b makes sense. just european sizes are bigger as well. Also I am 162 cm so not really tall as well and couldn't fit the clothes while being underweight. Italian people are smaller but not that small
I literally saw a TikTok about this girl who was working at Brandy and someone asked to apply for a job and her boss asked her what race the girl applying was. What the actual fuck? And then the girl told the boss that she was Asian the boss said she wasn’t going to hire her.🙄
I think my reasoning for buying brandy used to be because I grew up naturally skinny so most clothes never really fit me, they were always oversized and baggy. But it took me some time to realize that there are definitely other options.
I am a African American girl. I am also very petite when I go on their website I feel bad because women of color are not being represented the way European girls are. The thing that is so dangerous about brands is that people still shop there because they like the clothing they don’t care what the brand does they’re still going to shop there which is basically showing support putting money in their pockets! It’s very suspicious how to white men own a store for small petite teenage girls. I was thinking about purchasing some clothing from them this week but this video clearly suggest otherwise.
I really like brandy but I think the cause of the problem is that there are 2 white men running a teenage girl store kinda creepy and often older men have the same thought about body’s,race, and gender from when they were young. Brandy has super cute clothes but there is no excuse for suggestive body shaming and discrimination. It’s so sad for another good brand to be canceled because there too ignorant to be inclusive😔
Dipindots lol omg that’s is kinda Ignorant if u to say. ALOT of clothing companies Shit companies in general are RUN BY WHITE MEN. Like Jesus I’m pretty sure the underwear on ur floor is from a brand ran by men. 🤦🏽♀️
Low key I'm kinda shocked an entire brand with only one size ever got any attention but I'm not at all shocked that they are not preaching a narrative of acceptance. What do we expect from a company who doesn't even try to hide their descrimination? It's so sad that there are companies like this that encourage teen girls to hate themselves
brandy melville is my fave store i find their clothes so cute and they fit my style more than others but the poor representation and lack of addressing any issues makes me so disappointed :((
its rlly easy to agree with something when u r what they want, u r what they say is beautiful. try stepping outside of ur comfortable little box of being americas beauty standard and instead of arguing actually read what people are saying. it hurts no one to actually listen pls try at least. blmmmmm! if u don't see that or know that by now...
one time I went into brandy and I was shopping minding my business. I picked out a few tops, and I wanted to go to the dressing rooms so I asked one of the workers. The worker looks at me and said “sorry, but we can’t let you try them on cause we’re afraid of you ripping the clothing” ive never felt so horrible in my entire life..as I was walking out I could hear the workers body shaming me and making fun of my stretch marks
I live in europe so our brandy melville is different, they used to just post white blonde girls but now they have a bit of diverse and allow POC on the account too :)
I wish there were more brands that made clothes for really tiny girls. I have such a difficult time finding clothes made for girls my size. I hate that they’re not more inclusive.
this video addressed so much, and i respect and appreciate you so much for it. personally, i’ve been using depop as a way to get some of the clothing from brandy that i enjoy, because their style is annoyingly cute and trendy. that being said, i feel better purchasing from depop because i’m not directly supporting a toxic brand :,) even so, it is so important that in modern times, especially NOW, we start ignoring and cancelling some of these brands
Let’s be honest all the teenage girls don’t really gaf if their racist. They’re still going to buy the clothes bc the clothes are “aesthetic” and honestly care less if their supporting a racist brand
plenty of businesses support racism tho, you can go shop there if it floats your both but in reality, all businesses need to look at who their hiring and why, injustice comes in all forms and can be very apparent in the work place
I hate to be the one but can some of y’all recommend alternatives to brandy ( not urban outfitters because they too are apparently a discriminative company ) :)
I have seen some youtubers does thrift flip, and i think it's not that hard! Just get some thrift finds @ ur local thrift store that has cute fabrics and turn it anyway you want! That way you'll also save your money and have perfectly fit outfit!
Something that can actually change this are influencers. Influencers set the trends and if they move onto something else and stop wearing brandy, people will stop because at the end of the day... it’s just the fact that their clothes are trendy. If influencers stop making it a trend to wear brandy clothes than no one will buy from them anymore
I stopped shopping at brandy cuz it gave off bad vibes to me, now I know why and the truth. Ugh just fuck it already u can even make ur own clothes exactly like brandy, or just buy identical clothing from princess polly or whatever.
Fast fashion seems cute now, but in 15-20 years when the younger generation asks who ruined the planet, accept the part you played
Wtf do you want? My parents have financial problems, i live in a trashy small city in a small trashy country, where i cant spend 50 dollars on a basic white shirt, so i spend 10 dollars on one

hey y’all, make sure to TRY to shop for at least SOME of your clothes on depop, at thrift stores or even learn to sew some of your own clothes! brandy isn’t the only brand like this and we need to stop contributing to fast fashion!

I’m sorry to hear that, those people don’t recognize the beauty of muscular girls :(
It's not It.
ITS FREAKING DISGUSTING HOW BRANDY TREATS OTHER RACES AND PEOPLE WHO AREN’T SKINNY
It makes it much worse that it's owned by 2 men...
as a girl who shops there, I don’t find it at all problematic. i mean Victoria’s Secret was started by men, as a girl myself i feel like people don’t realize that sexism can be put towards men too and at the end of the day it’s just a business. it’s marketing, it’s what sells and that’s business. not a big deal.
@@alicia_grace nobody said they were pedophiles, its the fact that the brands image is of one select "ideal" body type and skin colour of young women, and is directed and controlled by men that makes it especially gross
Alicia no one said they are pedophiles that is your assumption and no ones being sexist
miss skinnywannabe the original comment says “it makes it much worse that it is owned by two men.” now if a woman ran a men’s clothing store and somebody said that wouldn’t they be called sexist? however I will change the word pedophiles as I realize that isn’t what the original comment was implying. i did put that because on other videos people have implied it, but particularly not on here.
kenzie thank u for correcting me, I will change it but part of the reason they make one size is that it’s more cost efficient, compared to urban outfitters and such. what many people also don’t realize is that their one size policy doesn’t mean everything is small. beneath the one size tag is the actual size, which can range from xxs to xl. they are not directly implying that it is the ideal body type, it’s mostly society that makes it seem that way because of how pressured people are to fit into their clothes. at the end of the day, it’s still a business decision for profit rather than image for them.
ngl creeped out by the fact that brandy is run by two white men-
A lot of men are in the fashion industry for women’s clothes. You’re just ignorant
I could tell the 110lb girl felt sad, insecure, and just wanted to leave. the 90lbs girl did NOT acknowledge that at all. this is what is wrong with the size injustice. its creating insecurities. yes ppl that dont fit into brandy could just shop at a different store but there are still the skinny girls out there saying "omg i love brandy" "that brandy top is so cute" "lets go on a brandy shopping haul" . this just makes people that dont fit into brandy feel worse. and brandy clothes are still "so cute" which makes ppl shop there. brandy makes ppl feel overweight but in reality they are NOT , brandy models are just UNDERWEIGHT. the clothes look like they are made for UNDERWEIGHT GIRLS or KIDS. and shopping at another store doesn't make them forget that they couldn't fit into brandy. its disgusting. but i would be lying if i said i didnt have brandy in my closet. however, there are items at brandy that remind me i have a big gut, my arms are to skinny, and that my thighs are to big.
also ASIAN girls, especially south asian girls, I haven't seen even one.

Why didn’t they just promote themselves as a petite store lmao
exactly, instead of a trendy teen girly store that excludes half the teens who wanna be trendy and girly, its a shame
well they’re not petite, because that means short and not necessarily skinny. they probably will get the least hate by just saying one size, even tho it’s not okay
petite clothing is technically for shorter people! look it up ++ and all their models are all tall and their pants r clearly not for petite girls (shorter girls)
Did you even watch the video um
Not surprised, this brand has always been extremely problematic 🙄
More problematic than the Reynold's Pamplet
Jaclyn Randolph 💀😂
Ehh they look like the expensive, racist, misogynistic version of H&M.
Sheila Katz H&M has cheaper things though.
Brandy could never.
namjooncansteponmeandiwouldthankhim h&m is just cheap fast fashion its just as shitty tbh 😂
namjooncansteponmeandiwouldthankhim definitely would not say it’s better than brandy. H&M clothes are boring and shit middle age white women would wear and theyre a fast fashion capital

"Why dont you hate plus size stores"
If Brandy is meant for skinny girls then they should promote them selves as one instead of putting "one size fits all" or "one size fits most" and I know that they changed it but if they have to try that hard not to offend people they should just make other sizes or say they are a petite store
i’m not defending the brand but it has always been one size fits small. never one size fits all
@@lilianeade1540 Yes it has

I see girls discussing how brandy’s a store for more petite and thinner girls. That’s completely false. It’s a store that has a “one size fits all” aesthetic. If they really were a store for petite girls, they’d carry more sizes that would be more or less petite, like have an xxs or more, like actual Petite stores do. I found out about brandy a year ago. made my first video on brandy 10 months ago. i talked about racism but was scared to get deep bc i didn’t want to assume. however, i have learned a lot in the past few weeks bc of BLM so i have chosen to speak out louder than before. i also could not have spoken out about george floyd’s death before george floyd’s death occurred.
4.) in staying silent, brandy is complicit in situations of injustice. this is a human rights issue. also with that big of a plat form u have to ask, why haven’t they spoken out? why wouldn’t they speak out? no obvious reason other than they do not support BLM. it’s not hard to speak out
mind u, the person arguing these things claims to be in favor of black lives. although their heart is in the right direction, these arguments are contradicting
about size:
i understand the clothing is meant for people who fit them. if so, Brandy should make a statement identifying themselves as a petite clothing brand to stop girls from wanting to lose weight to fit into their clothes. not once has brandy ever spoken out about anything. with a massive platform why wouldn’t u say something
its an Italian brand. Italy can be pretty racist. Not surprised.
stop creating drama about race. you never cared abt black ppl before. now there being targeted and your jumping on the wagon to make yourself look good. i have cared about blacks for my whole life i have more black friends than i do white.
Melody Berasi BLM is not a band wagon to me. the past weeks have showed the true colors of many clothing brands bc many remain silent or even take the side of injustice. it also sounds like u are trying to say u care more for black people than i do... which is a useless argument that distracts from the real issues which we both agree on. we want the same thing so why use your time to fight me rather than something more constructive
croissant i’m not fighting you i’m telling you that you should not be pulling the racist card on brands and people anymore it’s OLD
croissant we should be saying ALL lives matter bc we are all equals
i feel like crying, you spoke facts in this video. how normalized having one set of beauty standards is sick and horrible on young impressionable women(and men.) I've always struggled with certain clothing because i always felt as if i needed to be skinnier to make it look better just because thats what I've seen on the media. i wish we were shown growing up cute clothing styles on all body types.
And ALL RACES
look at Ashley graham
OliverK80 how about we don’t limit stores to a specific race
“when you buy a product, you’re buying the person the product promises to make you.” CHILLS. (from girls who used to stress over not fitting into brandy Melville, thank you for making this video ❤️)
Also, can I just say their BLATANTLY xenophobic shirts that said “we grew here, you flew here” released in 2013, if I remember correctly. Someone DESIGNED this shirt, passed it onto manufacturing, and LITERALLY sold it in stores and nobody said “maybe this design isn’t a good idea”
EXCUSE ME THEY DID WHAT- thats so disgusting, my parents are immigrants :,(
This is why i think the American dream is false unless you were born there
Oh you mean the we grew here you flew here California shirt. Lmfao they’re basically saying we grew up in California you came here later on. Nothing to do about immigrants lmfao
Your videos are such gems, even if they're spread out in time! would love hearing video essays on other stuff too.
Everyone let's go to the thrift store !!!!
Edit: omg guys thanks for the like isn't my attention to have likes but now I'm famous lmao, so I would like to say racism (and fatophobia) is horrible and yes the clothes of this brand are pretty cute but we can't support this brand and also this brand is super expensive so let's go to the thrift store to find dupe and to create an amazing aesthetic (an other tips you can steal your parents' clothes I always do this for a vintage aesthetic) and again thank you for the likes and the pinned comment
(And sorry if I do english mistake I'm French)

Why don’t they realize that if they were more inclusive with they’re sizes and races, they would make Wayyyyyy more money. Like do they need a slap in the face back to reality or sum??
For reall. It's like they only want skinny white teen girls to buy their clothes.
Their exclusivity IS their selling point.
ai ko companies are allowed to market to whoever they want, doesn’t make it right but quit bitching and just don’t support them
i'm literally losing my mind at the comments 😒
i’m with u sis
Imma just say, as a tall girl, brandy is not for tall girls, their skirts are wayyyy to short for that. They're for petite ( thin AND small ) and they shouldnt act like theyre size inclusive
Ikr I’m 5’10 and their jeans go above my ankles
i remember scrolling down their insta and finding only one or two posts with a person of colour, and it didn't even show their face. what a disgusting brand :(
I would argue that the media idealizes people who are “slim thick”, just look at Kyle Jenner, Tana Mongeau, and Addison Rae.
As of 2014 its completely changed and it hasnt been entirely healthy either.
thats a great agurment , if the obvious discrimination made my brandy wasnt a thing , brandy wouldnt be getting so much slander about other things, its just so problematic
exactly
no i don’t agree. they judge the heck out of nonskinny people and profit off of people’s insecurities.
I imagine what it does with bigger people
you are ALL beautiful no matter what size you are
Sabrina not Spellman i’m a 0-2 and i still has all of those struggles, the media is an awful thing
And they consider a size six plus size LIKE TF
girls i KNOW how hard this is. they’re one of the only stores that has somewhat affordable trendy clothing that we somehow force ourselves to fit into. but if we all just stop buying even for a few months we can stop this!!!
And the girls that shop there still feel they are part of something- but thats just what brandy wants you to feel like.
if they just became more diverse and added sizing in a wide range they could make so much money
They already make a lot of money so they don't need to
They don’t have to worry about producing different sizes by only choosing one size

me reading the title: *IVE BEEN WAITIN FOR THIS ONE TURN IT UP!!*
ever since i first heard of brandy i vowed that i’d never shop there no matter how big the hype was. i’m latinx and i don’t feel comfortable shopping at a store with no diversity. i also don’t want to support and store that has “one size fits all” because we weren’t made to fit into one size. i’m glad everyone is catching on and i hope stores with messages such as these aren’t supported anymore.
If they don't, there feeding racism and insecuritues
giulia mingozzi not to be rude but going of what you are saying then petite or plus size stores shouldn’t exist
urban overpriced as hell but even tho I like their clothes I’m willing to boycott them and brandy 💕😌
yes queen!!!
Urban literally has so much diversity in their models though
Camryn Glanville theyre apart of fast fashion and the owner is anti lgbt
and you’ll be saving money while you’re at it too 😌
Maci Someone well some ppl don’t mind spending a lot of money on clothes! So u shouldn’t have the stores taken down just because u can’t afford it!
the fact that this brand is even acssociated with an eating disorder is disgusting
Emma C I actually did watch it!! 💖
Carley Wade ok!! Have a good day!💗
Emma C first, I did watch it, second of all, if a store is made for SMALL people, it’s not going to have a BUNCH of sizes. Brandy has at least an xs-medium. Did YOU even read my comment?
im gonna ask this again *WHY ARE THEY SELLING MY SCHOOL SKIRT*
Girl I graduated high school already but I literally said the same thing 😂 I was like omg that’s my uniform
I’ve literally lost weight just to buy a brandy shirt. I hate that I did that
harryyyy
Whelp I saw this coming
omg where is your profile pic from please ?
i stopped shopping from brandy because of their in exclusivity and a lot of people I know said they were going to stop buying from them too. i ended up being the only on to stop shopping from brandy because it was 'too hard' for the other girls. its really not. if you are looking to start shopping from places other than brandy I recommend depop, 4 U ONLY USA, UNIF and so many other stores! its rlly not hard.
i wouldn't recommend unif because their stuff itsn't great quality for the super high prices and they blatantly rip off ideas from vintage items. look up unifcopied on ig
Unif is not a good example at all. Look up unifcopied on ig
wendyyx oooh thank you i'm going to check this out
Tbh at first I kind of liked their clothes last year but I started to gain weight and couldn’t fit into their clothes it made me feel horrible. I really like how you spoke up we should be friends!
thank you for sharing ❤️ i totally agree. and ofc!!! let’s b fwends :)
i saw this tweet saying: "the way y'all say "blm" and then follow and support brandy melville..." and ive never agreed with anything more in my life
I just find this so unusual like?? Dark skinned people can be petite too why dont they just get some diversity and promote themselves as a petite store
PLEASE DO SHEIN AND ROMWE PLEEEAASSEE
YES! shein would be soo important !!
How are Shein and Romwe problematic? Not that I don't believe you, I just didn't know they were bad and am genuinely curious.
@@charlottegregory1664 i think they they are fast fashion stores where the workers that make the clothes work in horrible conditions for long hours and barely make minimum wage. i am not sure if that is what they are talking about but yeah
Let's just learn how to make our own clothes at this point 🤦🏽♀️
fast fashion isn't easy to not give in to man but the least we can do is try 😔
The fact that the most distinguishing feature on any of their model’s bodies are their bulbous joints says something
PLEASE JUST TO LYK PLEASE SHOP AT THRIFT STORES!! A LOT OF THRIFT STORES DONATE THE MONEY TO DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS!! ALSO, IT SAVES THE PRODUCTION OF MORE CLOTHES IN FACTORIES!!
i feel like brandy is only really problematic in post places in America. I've been to some brandys in asia and the staff is so nice and so is the management. im hoping it's the same for other places outside of the states too ;
I don’t think personality matters to them, they could be nice but were they all white and skinny?
@@chanthecat well as far as i've seen, no ~ the employees are just regular asian girls, not really sure how else i can explain them.
promoting only white girls in non white countries would not work
Same, i’m italian and really short, i have been to brandy many times but i never had a bad experience
guys i saw a brandy girl with black hair! the diversity 🥰🥰🥰🥰
stan an intelligent queen omg
I was like: What are you waiting for?
brandy melville is wrong. this is wrong. as an anorexia survivor, this broke me.
you are so beautiful the way you are ❤️don’t listen to a brand that gives no shits about you or anyone
@-- huh? oh right. it's my fault that brandy melville makes money off of people's insecurities. I didn't get anorexia on purpose and brands like brandy triggered it.
@@LetaoChen thank u so much!
@- you cannot tell people their mental health issues aren’t real
i'm an anorexia survivor as well and these kinds of things still trigger me even though i'm fully recovered. i love brandy melville's clothes and own a lot of them, but i feel an intense pressure to stay skinny in order to keep on fitting into their clothes. i can't imagine the amount of pain i would feel if i gained more weight and couldn't wear brandy's clothes anymore, which is obviously not okay
It bothered me so much that people were pretending that brandy is a petite brand
I know like they always say it’s the only brand they can fit into. Like b✨tch pretty much all brands have size small get over yourself💀
-- as the video said. even brands that focus on one body type have various sizes.
I will change it :)
wow! i didn’t know any of this. 😵 thank you for sharing. super interesting
I'm Italian and trust me, lots of Italians are racists
Yea. When I visited Italy I was made really uncomfortable because I was a tourist and therefore not italian? Made me feel not really welcomed. But actually I am part italian and big part of my family is living there. Then I wondered how other tourists would feel who look more different or even how refugees would be treated.
Tysm! This is really good information!!!
to anyone reading this rn, you are so beautiful and you don't have to fit society's beauty standards to be beautiful.
Luya people are on average smaller in Italy than America. They have hardly any overweight people and America has mostly overweight people
@@shelbylovesu4b makes sense. just european sizes are bigger as well. Also I am 162 cm so not really tall as well and couldn't fit the clothes while being underweight. Italian people are smaller but not that small
they turned off their ig comments bc people were asking for diversity that just says so much right there
Brandy Melville makes me wish I was white and skinny and I’m non of the above.
Girl you are beautiful
Girl not being white and skinny doesn’t mean you’re not beautiful. Colored skin and body weight is beautiful trust me
I literally saw a TikTok about this girl who was working at Brandy and someone asked to apply for a job and her boss asked her what race the girl applying was.
Their cloths are cute but there attrition and reputation is a no.
Brandy melville did have a black model but that product that girl was wearing is now unavailable
Low key I'm kinda shocked an entire brand with only one size ever got any attention but I'm not at all shocked that they are not preaching a narrative of acceptance. What do we expect from a company who doesn't even try to hide their descrimination?
It's so sad that there are companies like this that encourage teen girls to hate themselves
brandy melville is my fave store i find their clothes so cute and they fit my style more than others but the poor representation and lack of addressing any issues makes me so disappointed :((
ik you said not to argue in the comments but I think shaming the company and arguing with people that defend brandy Melville is my new favorite hobby
hahaha me too! and i meant not to body shame each other, arguing is fine by me!
its rlly easy to agree with something when u r what they want, u r what they say is beautiful. try stepping outside of ur comfortable little box of being americas beauty standard and instead of arguing actually read what people are saying. it hurts no one to actually listen pls try at least. blmmmmm! if u don't see that or know that by now...
one time I went into brandy and I was shopping minding my business.
Please continue doing this. It's totally fine, if u don't upload every week or so, just don't quit because what you are doing is important!
this video addressed so much, and i respect and appreciate you so much for it. personally, i’ve been using depop as a way to get some of the clothing from brandy that i enjoy, because their style is annoyingly cute and trendy. that being said, i feel better purchasing from depop because i’m not directly supporting a toxic brand :,) even so, it is so important that in modern times, especially NOW, we start ignoring and cancelling some of these brands
wonderfully said 💗💗
Let’s be honest all the teenage girls don’t really gaf if their racist. They’re still going to buy the clothes bc the clothes are “aesthetic” and honestly care less if their supporting a racist brand
My personal opinion is that they should not have to say anything about BLM. One reason is that they are a business, not one person.
plenty of businesses support racism tho, you can go shop there if it floats your both but in reality, all businesses need to look at who their hiring and why, injustice comes in all forms and can be very apparent in the work place
🤦🏾♀️ frick brandy
anyways support small+black owned businesses 😌🤚✨
I hate to be the one but can some of y’all recommend alternatives to brandy ( not urban outfitters because they too are apparently a discriminative company ) :)
I have seen some youtubers does thrift flip, and i think it's not that hard! Just get some thrift finds @ ur local thrift store that has cute fabrics and turn it anyway you want! That way you'll also save your money and have perfectly fit outfit!
garage has some similar clothes, not sure if they are good as a company though
Alexis Névrose even walmart has super cute clothes now tbh, i found some cute sweatpants that look like the rosa ones for $8 in the boys section.
go to your local thrift shop or winners/Marshalls/TJ Maxx
Urban planet, Miss Selfridge, Boohoo, AllSaints, cottonon, Generalpants, Showpo, Michael stars. Also, try etsy and boutiques.
