For those like me struggling to get the lid on, the filter is in wrong. You don’t simply line it up with the squares. Look down into the reservoir where the filter goes. You’ll see a long raised line. There’s a groove on one side of your filter. The 2 need to line up. Then your lid should fit.
Line the groove in the filter with the handle. Must push filter in firmly. I wasn't getting to seated properly and it would fall out when tipped over. Seems to work fine now. Soaking second fill right now. Did first fill completely wrong. As if you can fill a pitcher wrong. LOL! But yep.

Sean McCarthy I was wondering the same thing. Is that line a few inches from the bottom the max fill line? Thank you! I am switching from the round pitcher to a newer model. I couldn't figure out how to get the reservoir out! I hate when they make things less straightforward! Thanks!
I'm still not sure about how much water to put in the pitcher. The thing that confuses me is if the pitcher is full of water it doesn't get to run through the filter because it's sitting underneath the filter. I agree with others that it was nice not to hear sound but for me I would have preferred him to say something like "fill the pitcher up to this line".
Omg! I was doing this all wrong. Mine doesn’t come with the Brita notification, only a cover. I was supposed to soak my filter in cold water for 15 mins, but forgot about it, and left it for 3 hrs instead. I hope it’s not toxic or anything.
When I was washing it I noticed marks on the side of the pitcher. they look like scratches but feel smooth. I was hoping for info here, but don't find any. I think I'll return it and try to get one without marks because I would be wondering it it's healthy. It's the Soho model I bought at an Evanston CVS August 2018.
Julia these are just mold injection they may not be scratches could be just stress marks in the plastic from the process or a flaw in the die that they are made from. If they are noticeable yes return it but really nothing to worry about. It is a flaw they should be clear but over time you will get scratches on the picture it unavoidable.
We saw in the instructions to keep the water level up to the filter so it’s not completely dry because bacteria can start to grow , that was about 10 years ago. Is this still recommended? Or can you let the pitcher sit with very low water levels .? Please reply someone thanks 🙏
Lisa that all lies with in your personal use. Just read the info and see what the manufacture suggests as far as liters/gallons and determine from there. With the indicator on top of the one I had I changed per its indicator that it was due. Prior to that was just average how many gallons we use per week and changed based on that. The more you use it the sooner it will need to be changed. I have moved on from the filtered pictures and purchased a reverse osmosis system and never looked back. Between my wife and I we drink at least 1.5 gallons per day plus family on weekends Also Ice maker uses the water from the system. We are on the very high end of the water consumption spectrum.
Thanks for this video. I wish that I had watched it BEFORE I bought a Brita yesterday. If I had realized what you had to do BEFORE you could get fresh drinking water, I would not have bought a Brita.
Anyone know how the indicator lights manage to work without batteries? We have had an older model about the same size for 25-30 years and it still works fine but no indicator lights to advise of time to change. Will buy a new one if there are not too many bad reports.
This is crazy. I can taste and smell the water in my 1/2 gal Brita pitcher when it goes bad, and it goes bad way sooner. I'm going to keep track next time I change my filter to see if this is a bogus statement about passing 40 gals of water threw the filter.
To change the filter in the large pitcher you will probably need a butter knife to gingerly pry up the thin black top piece. The latch on the front just doesn't do it.
I just bought one and filtered the water 3 times to get any lose carbon particles out. I push that status button on top and it says replace...? Why?its brand new and I put the filter in correctly
EN algunos modelos pareciera que la tapa no cierra, pero es el filtro que no esta bien puesto, solo girenlo a la izquierda o derecha y va a encajar bien la tapa y el aua va a estar limpia.
This video is so helpful! I had problem stuck the filter inside with tight seal, after watching, 3:47 only one direction could fit the filter in. Almost throw away this cup lol
Linda personally what I do when I fill it and it goes through the filter I will generally fill the reservoir up again so the picture is full Its just something I've done for years
No, just fill, close the lid and let it filter. I, after pouring a cup of water would fill the reservoir again close the lid put it back in the fridge always had a full picture but I would never fill it up twice in a row . You don't want to have water standing in the reservoir and try to pour a cup of water and have it pour out of the reservoir
Oh ok, I just feel like it'll make the sensor turn red sooner from opening the lid more often and having to fill it more even when it's not completely empty yet.
Its based on every time you fill the reservoir. If you leave the lid open and fill again your defeating its purpose. Filling more than the filter is to be used for.
My question also! Some pitchers have a fill line and some don't. NONE of the videos even show where the final fill line ended up to be. I got a five cup model and I poured five cups into it quickly so it wouldn't start filtering and I marked where five cups ended up when full.
Thank you sooooo much.. I Don't believe that we Filled it 3 times and Dumped it.. I'm here because my water tasted funny and Now I think I know why.. Thank you again 😊🙏🏽
Are you talking about the filter indicator? if so just go by the factory recommendations for filter replacement and adjust for the amount you use. WE use ours for coffee and tea every day so just about every month we would change it out because we used it a lot.
Why has Brita stopped manufacturing this model? They now have the new model that doesn't have the cap that lifts when you pour water out from the spout. It's a fairly big opening with the new models with insects falling inside. Please give us back the old model. the one featured here in this video.
Thank you for taking the time to do this video, my pitcher was leaking inside. Meaning that I saw that the water was being filter much faster than usual, but when you said that to press tight for a better sealed that helped me. Now my pitcher is filtering great!
I'm pretty sure I have the same model which I got from Costco. Every time I pour, the indicator light doesn't flash at all. I held the reset button down till the green light shows (which works every time), however, it doesn't flash when I pour. Is that normal?
Luke it wont flash when you pour. It scenes when it tilts to pour or when its open to fill. Basically preset amount of time for filling it knows it's time to replace. Only should flash when reset and indicate progress till its time to replace.
+Lazy Sleeper every time you open the lid to fill the pitcher the motion sensor detect the lid in the upright position. When the lid is closed it blinks 3 times either, green yellow or red. After so many fills the light goes from green to red. Factory presets so you get the most out of every filter for best results. When it flashes red you need to replace the filter. After you replace the filter you push and hold the reset button till it resets and flashes green release and you’re ready for another cycle.
I'm thinking about getting one for my mom for Mother's Day. The thing Is we have well water with iron so will the brita still work and take out the iron?
tml no iron removal. That is a completely different animal. If she is on a well id have to suggest a whole house iron filter. You can go with a reverse osmosis under counter system but the iron will clog the filters up more quickly. Sorry the Brita does not.
Tiara its to rinse out the dust off the charcoal from manufacturing. You will notice a fog in the water the very first user. Its a precautionary measure to make sure the charcoal is free from any contaminates, dust anything from its making.
I just bought one it's a different set up. I rinsed the filter held the button until it was green then filled it 3 times like it said. Now when i hit the button the green light shows up next to "standard filter" which I think is right.. For some reason it has a metal like chemical after taste...anyone know why? I lost the instruction manual so im wondering if i did something wrong! It burns my throat slightly cause of the after taste.
I got mine from Costco and it's blue I wish I had a red 1 I also have trouble getting the lid to fit correctly on my blue one and where it shows the light is not in the middle it's different than this one.
Jennifer thank you for viewing. If I under you correctly your Picture only blinks when you reset it? As long as it shows progress it should be fine. Every time you refill the picture close the lid the indicator should display green, yellow or red. May not flash if a different model

Thank you, finally someone that demonstrates this easily
My 5-cup BRITA system doesn't have an indicator whether the water is done or not?
Are you talking about the filter indicator? if so just go by the factory recommendations for filter replacement and adjust for the amount you use. WE use ours for coffee and tea every day so just about every month we would change it out because we used it a lot.
Mine either
The Shack are you serious, one a month? So in my case I have to change the filter more often because I drink a lot of water
Why has Brita stopped manufacturing this model? They now have the new model that doesn't have the cap that lifts when you pour water out from the spout. It's a fairly big opening with the new models with insects falling inside. Please give us back the old model. the one featured here in this video.
Super helpful. Thxs man 😘😘😘😘
CherryBeary you are very welcome. Thanks for viewing.
@@TheShackHome you welcome man 🥸
So you're supposed to wash the inside with detergent before you use it? (The instructions aren't very clear about that.)
Should be common sense. It's mass-produced plastic.
Thank you for taking the time to do this video, my pitcher was leaking inside. Meaning that I saw that the water was being filter much faster than usual, but when you said that to press tight for a better sealed that helped me. Now my pitcher is filtering great!
Jose Degante you are welcome. My pleasure to help. Thank you for viewing.
Thanks for this video I bought one today the white color so I’m trying to see how to set it up 👏🏽
I'm pretty sure I have the same model which I got from Costco.
Does the light has to stay on?
I wish they had a red one when I bought mine very pretty.
What is the parts per million test after the water is filtered..... this filtering system does not do the job well
What is the reset button for?
+Lazy Sleeper every time you open the lid to fill the pitcher the motion sensor detect the lid in the upright position. When the lid is closed it blinks 3 times either, green yellow or red. After so many fills the light goes from green to red. Factory presets so you get the most out of every filter for best results. When it flashes red you need to replace the filter. After you replace the filter you push and hold the reset button till it resets and flashes green release and you’re ready for another cycle.
Best review I have ever seen
I'm thinking about getting one for my mom for Mother's Day. The thing Is we have well water with iron so will the brita still work and take out the iron?
tml no iron removal. That is a completely different animal. If she is on a well id have to suggest a whole house iron filter. You can go with a reverse osmosis under counter system but the iron will clog the filters up more quickly. Sorry the Brita does not.
Thanks i got my mom something else for Mother's Day The pioneer woman cooking pan in blue and a cool key/purse hanger too put on the wall.
Thank you for this great video! I was confused by user manual as I am not a native english speaker, but this video made everything perfectly clear!
You're a great English writer for sure 😃
Why do you discard the first 3 pitchers?
👀
I got mine from Costco and it's blue I wish I had a red 1 I also have trouble getting the lid to fit correctly on my blue one and where it shows the light is not in the middle it's different than this one.
great video! it really helped two college students
I have a pitcher very similar but the green light it's not blinking like that just when I press the botton
is that OK?
Jennifer thank you for viewing. If I under you correctly your Picture only blinks when you reset it? As long as it shows progress it should be fine. Every time you refill the picture close the lid the indicator should display green, yellow or red. May not flash if a different model
Thank you so much for making this video! It helped me a lot to set up my BRITA OB03 filter for the first time .
Julio your welcome
Had to but nestle bottled water a second time.. each time smells like mildew..
4:38 Discard first 3 pictures. Nice.
Bet he meant pitchers hahaha auto-correct
