Consumer Reports rates vehicles on the reviews of its subscribers. They don’t poll all owners of a particular vehicle. Consumer Reports wants everyone to drive a $30,000 or more car that is loaded with blind spot monitoring, forward collision alert, automatic braking and so on. The problem with Consumer Reports is they don’t focus on price. Most Americans can’t really afford a vehicle that comes with all the features CR thinks we need. The Journey might not be the safest vehicle on the road today, but for around $13,000 to $25,000 you get a nicely equipped and very comfortable mid size suv/crossover that performs great in most daily driving tasks. It has a boatload of storage areas and with the V-6, I can tow my little camping trailer with it. All at a price that is affordable. Safety is important. No doubt about it. Consumer Reports is not perfect. They have recommended vehicles that fall apart in a year or two. Do your research from every source you can find. Talk to owners of the vehicle you want to buy, watch videos and always test drive the vehicle you are considering.

This test was performed at 35MPH/56KPH as displayed on the test id card affixed to the door. Which proves slightly confusing as it shows an NCAP listing however NCAP frontal impact tests are preformed at 40MPH/64KPH.

Consumer reports quickly placed the Journey in their, "Worst of the Worst" category.
They also only gave it an overall score of 45, stating that, "The Journey is a poor value anywhere outside of an airport lot rental."
They give it a full black circle for reliability, half black for satisfaction, and state the v6 gets the worst Mpg in its class at only 16.

Lol, you guys have no idea what you are looking at. This is not a good result, in fact its very bad. Look it up, the Dodge Journey has the worst crash rating of any SUV.
You may want to rethink owning one.

That is only one crash test. All of the other crash test the dodge has 4 or more stars even with rollover. The reason why it is bad at the small overlap crash test is because it wasn't really a standard to do that so the vehicle isn't designed for that kind of test. Im sure in the next year or two when they redesign the Journey it will improve upon the small overlap test. Just like the Honda Pilot did.

+tim wells Other than that test I think its a pretty safe vehicle.

First of all, it's not an SUV. It's a crossover. And no when I bought mine, it's one of the best safety vehicles on the road.
