My father had dobermans, so I was around them as a youngster. Swell dogs. Just like with multiple other strong, popular working breeds, they started to get a bad reputation due to backyard breeding, irresponsible masters, and depictions of them in the media being aggressive. Ours were not aggressive, but they were vigilant. If strangers were cool with us, then they were cool with strangers.
I do Doberman rescue and it’s sad that the breed is getting popular again because people don’t do their research to see if this is a good fit for their home. They are being dumped in shelters like crazy. My foster fail that I have is definitely a working line so he was given up because the owner couldn’t handle him. He’s such a wonderful boy now that he’s getting what he needs. Thank you for this video.
I always enjoy Antione’s personal and expert content on my favorite breed. Bravo!
Look carefully at the parents and grandparents health history before buying one. Alot of doberman bloodlines don't make it past 9.
Great video. Loved the commentary. Cheers
There’s this one lady I see almost everyday near my daughters school, walking, her Doberman. Looks like a fabulous dog, I’ve see him around all types of dog, adults, children, bikes joggers. The dog is well trained always alert looking to the owner, I’ve never seen any aggression towards anything. He looks very stable in temperament. Lovely animal 💜
Great info, thanks.
Great video ❤
Nice tips! Goes for every breed.
Thank you 🙏
Thanks 🙏
Great insight on the doberman breed. Thoroughly enjoy this video😊
The doberman is a fantastic breed.. Great video very informative🙂👍🏼
There was no discussion about how highly intelligent the Doberman is. The Doberman is one of the smartest dogs in the world and is capable of anything. The Doberman has the brawn and the speed to handle any person and most other threats. The Doberman can protect a CEO in a business environment and look good doing it without losing patience in that environment. The Doberman can go from the play room to the board room and be at home in either situation. The Doberman isn't hyper like a Malinois, it isn't so big that it's slow and tires easy, like a bullmastiff or similar breed, and it has a short coat so you are not dealing with long hair all over your work clothes or work environment. The Doberman Pinscher is the only breed that was created for personal protection work from the beginning. The American show ring has watered them down, just like they've ruined many breeds. Look at the sad state of show line GSD's, it's horrible. A working line Doberman Pinscher is the BEST "ALL AROUND" working dog in the world, as long as you get a quality working line dog.
I like this Guy and his opinions. He knows what he is talking about and thats rare
i dont think this guy knows what hes talking about if he thinks doberman pincher history goes "way back in the day" when it is one of the newest most modern dog breeds that is barely over 100 years old. he is surely knowledgeable about the breed but an expert? hardly.
Let’s gooooo!
I really appreciate all the videos. Been following for years. I began with a tan dobe as my first back in 2014. I’ve now settled for an all black German shepherd currently.
Another good video from Gerald.thank you

Thanks for the video Gerald im from Jackson, Ms myself and i had a warlock breed Doberman when i was in high school. (Prince)
Warlock is a backyard bred term
Shoutout to Jacktown! Same here
♥️
Every 1 in 1,000 dogs go for the neck, not the arms. How do you deal with that training?
This dude is hilarious 😂😂😂😂
“Not as impressive of a dog”
Yeah the American lines show more homage to the original Dobermans. The Europeans he’s into are overbred, more mastiff than Doberman at this point. Typical American mind set ironically, all about size over substance
These dogs he's into have terrible lifespans, a direct consequence of breeding for over-mass/over-size. These dogs could be HALF the size and would be closer to the original doberman than anything we have today. However, the american line has no substance either. They are an extreme in the other directions -- show bred, doe-like, with no temperament for what they were originally bred for. They are essentially like poodles without the high-maintenance coat. They are not even intimidating at all without their ears cropped, and look and act a little bit like noodles. If a person wants a doberman, a real doberman, they are probably better off with a beauceron, german pinscher, or standard schnauzer
@@TheBurrito171 most big dogs have terrible lifespans
@@guidlines This is not something we should accept. All large and XL breeds have been being sized up for the past 100 years for no reason. Now we have A LOT of evidence that the act of increasing their height and mass is detrimental to lifespan. It's time to take the ethical decision to rein those sizes in and stop. We cannot continue this and pretend we love our dogs.
I prefer the Doberman I remember seeing that I grew up with, so definitely must be American bloodlines. I really only started seeing huge emphasis on all these german lines (shepherd, Doberman, rotties) in the last 15+ years, in my personal experience. Either way both are lovely dogs. But to me American is very impressive and has elegance about it.
European dobermans are the originals . Dobermans were bred to be guard dogs , how can a slim small headed dog handle a grown man or two ? More importantly American dobermans don't have the temperament or grit to do bite work hence they moved from the ultimate companion and mascot for US marines in wwii to can't even crack it as a police dog. Completely watered down, the biggest health issue with Dobermans is DCM that is prevalent in all lines and is likely to destroy the breed in a decade.
your other girlfriend lmao
I am scared of these dogs I was attacked by two when I was 5.
Dobermans are not supposed to be deep chested at all not even close
The breed standard says the chest should be broad and the brisket should be "deep to the elbow." Thats describing a deep chest.
@@butkusfan23 not really a deep chested dog is not a healthy dog
@@tyrannotherium7873 ok well the breed standard says its supposed to be, so what now?
@@butkusfan23 no they are not at all
@@butkusfan23 where did you get this information from
i dont think this guy knows a damn thing of what hes talking about.
Dude compared his skin complexion to negativity. SMH
Dobermans are a watered down breed in the U.S ... Better off getting a champion line Rott.
I couldn't agree more when it comes to American lines.
@@beachaddict7653 Yeah they've ruined some good breeds here lol
@@juant7120 After the studies of health and lifespan coming out in recent years, it is clear that this idolization of European breeders is totally misplaced. They are ruining breeds too. The Euro doberman has the lowest lifespan of all doberman varieties according to a recent lifespan study by the doberman diversity project. The euro line cane corso has a lifespan of like 8 years. Stupidly low, and stupidly massive. They really are not any better, and in many cases, are turning out worse.
Say it for those in the back
He said he was born black lol your more white than black I'd say 70% white
😂
must suck to not be black enough, but also not be white enough.
