I found out that putting the eggs in boiling water basically fixed the problem for me. I let them heat up with the water in the past and that made the shell stick
Dont use cold eggs to start and that also helps. Eggs do not need to be refrigerated. Most people dont buy fresh eggs so they dont know this. However if you buy eggs from the grocery store cooler you just keep them chilled from them on. Before boiling them take them out and let them come to room temp, then add them to warm water. Then warmer. Then put them in the pot.
The best method in my opinion is to boil the water first, then, when it’s boiling, add the eggs in. This quickly cooks the outside layer, meaning that it detached from the shell and comes off VERY easily. Credit: bong eats
Also, you can very gently add them in to avoid cracking, but cracking shouldn’t matter so much SINCE the outer layer is cooked, meaning that the egg won’t leak out (the outer layer is a wall to prevent the innards from leaking)
@@deedeeannash I’ve always been taught to add eggs to boiling water. You just lower them down gently and nothing cracks. Also, I never add anything to the water. Just boil the eggs, dump them in cold water and wait till they’ve cooled down enough to touch.
When you have the eggs in cold water after cooking, just crack them while they are underwater, the water will get under the membrane preventing it from sticking to the whites. Without that issue its significantly harder to mess up.
Boil water, add 2 tablespoons of vinegar, add eggs, and boil for 15 minutes. Add boiled eggs to a bowl of ice water immediately. After they're cool, tap both ends of the egg onto the countertop, turn the egg onto the side and roll. The shell comes right off. I've been doing this for years, and it works every time. It saves me time too. You're welcome. ✌🏾😁
That's how my Mom, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother always did it. Loved doing it as a kid during family holidays, always made me feel like part of the kitchen gang.
Totally me 🤣 I cannot peal an egg to save my life, I can do almost anything else but peal an egg properly, and I've tried all of those methods and my eggs still come out looking like the ones you showed in the beginning
Honestly for me it's just really way easier if I Crack it at the bottom where there's a little big of an air gap so I can get a lot of shell at once with my thumb
You can crack it from the bottom instead of doing it sideways, i find it much easier, theres space at the bottom and when you crack it you have a place through which you can slide your finger through and gently peel it off 😊
One really easy way to take the shell off is when it's in the ice bath just tap the flatter end of an egg on the side off the bowl and shake It underwater and then just put it in a container with a lid on it put some ice water in and swirl it a few times the shell should come off
If you like soft yolks: - Wait until water boils - Leave eggs in for 6 minutes and 9 seconds (optional: add some vinegar if the egg breaks and the eggwhites come out; the vinegar keeps the whites attached) - Put eggs into some cold water to stop cooking and detach the eggs from the membrane (wait a few minutes)
TIP: if you own chickens and using fresh eggs, wait about 3-4 days and it will peel really well. Don’t hatch the day of! This is the only thing i follow for my chickens eggs and they peel great
Tap the eggs with the bottom of a spoon until you hear a *pop* sound, then boil. This breaks the membrane inside the egg. Also I crack and roll them under running water to peel them and I get perfect eggs 9/10 times. 😁
Depends on how fresh your eggs are too. I have chickens, if you boil and peel eggs a day after they're laid they always look like they've been mauled lol
For people that can't handle loud noises at times, you can use another boiled egg to crack another's shell. You will end up with 1 champion egg but it's easier to put up with 1 egg than multiple. I have migranes so sometimes I can't handle loud noises so it helps 😊
I just saw the spoon method but it was used in a different way. You use the spoon before you cook them. You tap on the can't remember which side. Until you hear a pop. Then you boil your eggs and the shell should come right off. So next time I boil eggs that's what I'm going to do. By doing that with the spoon from my understanding it breaks the membrane from the egg shell from the inside. I don't know if anybody else has ever noticed that when you boil an egg there's a film over top of it if it doesn't come off during the boiling time it's a pain in the butt cuz it will take half the egg off of it. I hope this helped others.
I can’t believe that there’s so many people out there doing this wrong. Can you bring the water to a boil first . Then you drop the eggs in the water and then turn the heat down to medium with a lid on them for 13 minutes. Then put them in an ice water bath for about 10 minutes and they will peel perfect every time.
Once I started cooking mine in my pressure cooker and I peel while still warm, after just a few minutes in a bowl of cool water, I've had no issues peeling at all, they slide right off! Small victories make me very happy😁
You should make a hole on the bottom part of the egg (with like a needle). All of the air in the egg should be pushed out of the egg while cooking (preventing the egg from breaking) and once you put the egg in cold water, a layer of water will form all around the egg under the shell (due to the leak of air in the egg, which will cause the water to be sucked inside), making peeling super easy and leaving the egg without the damn bump that it always has (which is caused by the air trapped inside)
Once the eggs cool, float them in warm water using a sealable container. Add a few capfuls of oil in water and shake the sealed container. The eggs should then slip right out of their cracked shells.
When I do it, I remove from heat, drain the water, tap each egg to crack the shell all the way around and then place in iced water. It causes the inner membrane to shrink away from the shell. Voila! Perfectly peeled eggs.
After I pour the water off I boiled them in, I immediately put them in cold water like that. And I let them cool down a minute or so, then I use the rolling method. Which works like a charm every single time.
A chef told me to boil the eggs and then put a lid on it and let it sit like 10 minutes and then cool them in water and I did it a few times and it works. I also bang the egg a couple times to crack it and then roll the egg in-between both my hands not to hard and that definitely helps it peel fast the whole thing. You may need try it out and practice it but it definitely helps
My mom actually taught me is that when you do eggs you have to put cold water instead of hot or warm because it helps the eggs not to crack and help peel easier
Anyone that has an insta pot or other pressure cooker look into it. I was hesitant when I found out it was a thing but I tried it and I never boil eggs any other way now. Once you crack the shells they practically fall off.
The best way to remove egg shells from your hard boiled eggs is to put them in the pot of warm water and let boil for about ten minutes. Then put cold water in the same pot letting them soak for about fifteen minutes. Then after they are cold enough take one at a time and tap gently on each end and sides and all around and put them back into the cold water. After about five minutes take one at a time rolling them under the cold water in your pot and they'll come right off. As long as you have them in the cold water with the water soaking into the cracks of the shells that's what causes them to fall off easily. I've been doing this for years and I know you'll be happy with this method.
I like to use a pin to carefully poke a hole in the bottom of the egg with a push pin causing the hot water to surround the egg forcing it not to bond with the shell and then shocking in ice water. The sudden heat change causes a vacuum, sucking in cold water thus adding extra shell removal lubricant
i have the best tip- crack them WELL. so there are only tiny pieces and lots of cracks. then peel them off by the skin (slowly) and it comes off fine. dont add anything to the water
My moms best friend works at a place where he has to boil and peal tons of eggs at a time. He says that you add salt to the water before boiling. Make sure to dissolve it before adding the eggs in. He peals eggs one handed and swears by this method because he’s tried several and I swear by it too although I don’t boil eggs nearly as much.
My suggestion is add salt to the water. As they boil. The salt being abrasive will thinner the egg shell making it easier to peel away once you have cooled it down in cold water
I don't add ice in a bowl. I just empty the boiling water from pot and run the pot with eggs under cold tap for 10 seconds, empty it them add bit more cold water and let eggs sit in it for 30secs before shelling it because I like my eggs warm...never had a problem.
The tips is when peeling the eggs you have to make sure the egg is cool down enough, like if its (especially the inside) still hot its hard to peel, and peel it under the water help alot banget too
Honestly you don’t need the vinegar! The boiling room temperature water with the eggs in it and then covering them with cold water repeatedly until the water stays cold or the ice bath is the true trick! It essentially breaks the suction around the egg and shell and that’s why you can roll it on the counter and peel it so easily!
I found a method that works well for me five minutes into boiling I take my spoon and the backside of it I give each egg a tap it cracks the shell thus allowing a little water in and the shell slides right off
