I have mine - LR now 2 weeks and it’s a superb car. My previous car was a bmw 530e 2021 - another extraordinary car. I thought long and hard about leaving the Beemer and going for the model LR and I am delighted that I did - not out of any dislike of the 530e but the Tesla is a whole new driving/car ownership experience.

Great review. Long time EV sceptic but took your advice and test drove one. Socks….blown….off..😳😳😳 Indicators and lack of a dash took 5 minutes to get used to, never missed the stalk or dash after that. M3LR on order…..can’t wait.
Still rocking 2 x diesels, but neither am I an EV sceptic. However, our work / driving patterns don't financial warrant trading in our fully paid up cars for EV's. That being said, hope you enjoy the car

Really enjoy your channel and how you get into the detail 👍 Only a recent subscriber interested in cars and how things have moved on. Recently went out to look about as I am thinking of changing my Mk8 VW Golf to something bigger. Some great cars about as you mention, but prices are quite high. Still considering the move from petrol to hybrid or electric so I find your videos really helpful. Thanks for taking the time and appreciation to you for how long this takes you. All the best 👍
I've been waiting for the this video. What a great machine it is now ..... they seem to have ironed out some of the build quality issues. With that range and the charging infrastructure, it's the only EV I'd buy (I have a hybrid atm). Great review, as always. I like that you focus on practicality.
For those figuring out how to master roundabouts with this steering wheel here’s my advice from experience. Once you turn the wheel and the indicators go past 12 o’clock (imagine the steering wheel as a close and the indicators start at 9), use your right hand to track the indicators and press the required one. This is a lot easier because you’re moving the steering wheel through your hands as opposed moving the wheel along with your hands. Also there’s a slight bump the separates the indicators so as long as you feel for that ridge you know that the bottom is left and top is right (when the wheel is facing upright) and don’t have to look down at the wheel. On my first test drive I literally started off with practicing roundabouts and within 10 minutes was indicating correctly without the need to look down.
@@DefinitelyNotAGuru that is true but Elon’s idea is “the best part is no part”. So such a change was imminent especially after seeing it come to the S and X. When stepping into a Tesla there’s a lot of change you get used to from practice that from your previous car was not a thing. Test drove one yesterday. Loved it but think that no stalks and no gear shifter is annoying but I suppose you’d get used to it. Found myself keeping my left hand on the indicator whilst on the roundabouts and it seemed ok but would prefer a stalk. Great review and I agree with everything you said. 👍
I too got used to it quite quickly but it's still a no from me when I got back to my own car as I found an actual stalk to put the indicators on was far, far easier to use. It's just ridiculous really.
I have a 22 plate M3 RWD. Currently getting around 250 to 260 miles of range in the cooler weather. Hopefully that will increase in summer. Pet hates for me are the small exterior mirrors, turning circle like a truck and the erratic auto wipers. Apart from those minor gripes, it is simply the best car I have ever had. Possibly my next car when my lease runs out will the the one you are testing here, however having no indicator stalk could be bothersome. Looking forward to seeing your review of the BYD Seal. By the way the white interior is very easy to keep clean.

Great review Jim. Particularly interesting as you own a Y and can tell us that that you quickly get used to the touch screen. The big put off for me is the lack of a hatchback or estate model; and I wouldn't want an SUV Model Y.
Thanks. I think of the Y as a Hatchback/Estate rather than an SUV myself. Tesla does no pressure test drives so might be worth booking yourself one, if only to rule it out
Great review video as always. This is a beautiful car but a bit big for me. Agree re the speed display in the centre not really a problem but I would have issues with those indicators. Hopefully people get used to them though in fairness I have tried to indicate with my wipers in the past, which nobody notices unless it isn’t raining. Take care
one complaint I have from Tesla's I've been in - and one is on my list still - is for tall people the under leg support on the seats is not great, if you have long legs the seat pads could do with being 2-3 inches longer.
Not driven one yet but it doesn't sound THAT much quieter than my 2020 TM3. V tempted to get one of these as a second car when they have depreciated a bit. The TM3 is such a pleasant car to live with, I can easily imagine keeping my 2020 for another 4 years.
Taking your eyes off the road can be dangerous, having no hud and the silly cost cutting tesla have done especially with the stalks which is annoying considering the tesla network is good for charging. I'd rather have an i4 though especially now you can pick them up cheaper than a base tesla (Dacia Spring conundrum) with a few coming off leases.
You don’t really take your eyes off the road, I see no real difference driving another brand of car. Nothing wrong with an i4 for the used price - sure you wouldn’t rather have a Spring? 😂
I just wish I had the money to buy one, or even lease one, but a long way out of my budget. I wonder if you can answer a question for me, I have seen so many reviews of EVs and eventually want to buy one (used) if you use as an example, a model 3 and doing a road trip, can you plan it so it gets you to your destination with plenty of miles left. I go on trips a few times a year, and when I arrive at my destination, there is not going to be somewhere convenient for me to charge, so I want to be able to jump in the car after my visit, and still do a good amount of driving before having to stop and recharge on my return journey.
Great review. Pity though you missed (like all other car reviewers) why Tesla continually remove buttons and now the stalks. Their aim is to give the option of FSD (Full Self-Driving) so the car drives itself. One day they'll remove the steering wheel too! Interesting to see that in the USA FSD just now is no longer labelled "beta" but instead "FSD (Supervised)".

The steering isn't "fly by wire". It's standard rack and pinion, power assisted steering. The only cars that currently have steer by wire are the Cybertruck, a couple of Infiniti models and the Lexus RZ 450e. The only minor difference with the Tesla is the power assist is provided by an electric motor that can be controlled by the computer while some older ICE vehicles use a hydraulic power assist system. You can grab the steering wheel in a Tesla and physically wrestle control away from the computer because there is a direct connection to the wheels.
