I truly love their incorporation of a "Doppler Effect" - in those dropping notes. That sound of a train is not only in the rhythm but so well represented with those dropping notes.
Hello - I'm writing from Germany and I'm a big fan of Emmylou since the early 80's. I guess i understand the lyrics in the meaning of the words for themselves, but not the deeper meaning of the song respectively for her. Can YOU PLEASE help me out ? :/ Thanks in advance
Emmylou, you sing just as well today as you did back in 1975 at the Palomino nightclub. Everyone who ever saw you immediately fell hopelessly in love with you. I hope it hasn't been too much of a pain in the ass.....Love, R
When I was in my 20s, I would always check the TV Guide to see who was on ACL. If Emmylou was featured on a particular night, I would come home early from running around and being an idiot, or sometimes I just stayed home. One night, I was at my Mom's house, fixing the brakes on her car, and she hollered out the kitchen window "Emmylou Harris is on Austin City Limits" I said "Do you need the car first thing in the morning?" she said "no, you can finish it tomorrow", so I went in and we watched the show. Emmylou Harris bridged the generation gap at our house.
@@MMG-q1v If I ever had the honor and pleasure of meeting Emmylou, I would love to tell her that story. Especially the part about bridging the generation gap.
It dont! No matter the instance it is a relfection on Your decision or choice. You make it! Its your decision. Been to Tulsa on the rails, and by car! In my opionion, if you aint makin big money get out sooner than later! Tulsa is a dead end.

Rodney and Emmylou singing their co-write, Tulsa Queen - knocks me out every time! Such a beautiful song.

Thanks to everyone who created Austin City Limits.
A very dapper looking Jedd Hughes on electric guitar, what a beautiful song. Emmylou Harris is a true icon.
A foretaste of paradise. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you Emmylou and Rodney.
Emmylo and Rodney are very highly underrated as songwriters.
Not among their fans. We know exactly who they are.
I can barely operate heavy machinery when she's singing. She's a gift from God.

This is not even close
to the original performance.
she no longer sings...
The voice isn't what it was but unfortunately that bloody awful steel guitar is still part of the lineup.
