Thanks Very in informative video . but just wondering to know how did you reset the camshaft dephaser back to installation mode if u had the engine already in pieces
There's a hex on the back of the motor that allows you to turn it. Take an allen wrench and "thread" it back into the cylinder head until it's flush with the flange. Then you can install the fasteners.
My Bentley service manual for my 2012 jcw says 48 ft lbs on the chain tensioner. Cheers thanks for the vid. I have my car apart right now replacing valve cover and oil pan gaskets. Luckily my chain rails look great. 50K miles.
@@gsgarage2462 Thanks for the update. Just changed out my timing chain as a precaution. Multiple cylinder misfired. Rotated freely with the new chain and guide in. Wont fire up though. Chasing the cam and crank position sensors, then the coils next.
@@charlesschluessler546 IIRC, I had one leaky intake valve as well. Assuming your misfires are not ignition or vacuum leak related, it is a possibility that one or more valves are not sealing properly.
The head gasket I used came with the specs and sequence, but I don't have it anymore. I think it was something like 30 to 40 ft lbs in sequence, then 90 degrees in sequence, then another 90 degrees in sequence using new bolts. Hope this helps.
Did you do the vanos adaptation reset after this job? Was it super necessary like everybody seem to suggest on internet?

Thanks. I like to do anything with a crush washer by "feel". Good luck with your project.
can i change chain without engine removing from car on N12B16A engine?
PS:sorry for my English im from Poland
Yes, this job can be done through the passenger wheel well. No need to remove engine.
thanks:)
I have problem with valvtronic I change it same problem than I change the ecu also same problem the valvtronic no make adjustment
Since the motor just "quit", were there any bent valves?
Yes, all 8 exhaust valves were bent. Intakes all survived.

@@charlesschluessler546 I assume you have compression?

i presume the crankshaft sprocket is not key to the crankshaft and relies on the bolt to clamp it tight
Correct. Timing is determined by camshaft tool and flexplate pin.
hi do you know the torque specs for the head bolts for 2008 mini Cooper n12.

G's Garage thanks for the quick response.thats goona help.
Get a manual. Cheap hanes found on Amazon for 16 bucks.
you referenced nothing about where sprocket guide dots go facing each other so this video is incomplete and gets rated a 6
