You and the Dummies agree. I like your solution to the lighting hot spots. I can't find Pikesville on the Space Coast. So bigdog and I are real fond of Dickel's Rye (pretty cheap), and High West's Midwinter's, Yippee ki yay, and Rendezvous Ryes (pretty expensive) are all quite tasty. I like these blind tastings, lots of fun!
I have a new found love of ryes. I have to find the WT101 rye now. Great blind fight. I really want to pour the ones I have now and compare tasting notes but it’s not even noon yet😂
The Mash and Drum all I could think of when you were talking about the orange and chocolate was the orange jelly sticks they sell by the box. They were a total favorite as a kid. I have not had them in years.
Jason, Thanks for another detailed blind review and comparison. Not a big rye drinker and the ones I have are under 100 = HW Double Rye and Baby Saz. Had George Dickel at a bar = enjoyed and reasonably priced. A friend just gave me a bottle of Davidson Reserve Rye from TN at 100 proof. I'll crack that one today.
Yeah I'm planning a lower abv rye mash up as well. High west and Dickel will be in that too. Looking forward to it. I have a Davidson four grain that's really good. Let me know how the rye is. Cheers.
I know this an old video but I just got my first bottle of rye(rittenhouse)! Been a fan of bourbon for awhile now and when I want some info I go to this man!!
@@TheMashandDrum the Knob Creek barrel strength is about the same price in Alberta and will be in Ontario shortly. Beam Suntory prices here are reasonable considering our dollar strength. We just buy from Alberta where you can get Michter's 10 Bourbon or Rye and Michter's Toasted Barrel Rye from many stores online. That said, I usually have Pikesville Rye in the bar, one way or another. Cheers
@@chrisb48907 The only place you can purchase online and they ship to you is Alberta as you know. You can order online in Nova Scotia at the Government controlled stores or a store called Bishop's Landing. You can have the bottle delivered to an address in NS or to another store and you would have to name the person picking it up and they would have to get it to you. I have a sister in NS so I have done it many times.
I absolutely love the Pikesville. A must have in the Rye collection.
Love that you give the Mash bills when breaking them down, it gives me the info I need to compare with what else i am drinking
Thanks
It definitely helped me when I started tasting alot. Really helps you pinpoint your flavor profile. Cheers.
Really informative, and Pikesville is my favorite as well!
I recently finished a bottle of Pikesvile, and enjoyed it a lot... Great mash-up!
Thanks foodquig! Appreciate you watching as always. Cheers.
Love the Wild 101..
going to go get some Pikesville next!
Not sure how he only has 16k subscribers or so but he definitely deserves more! Cheers
All 4 bottles you sampled are winners.....cheers!!!

Thanks Birddog. I plan on another one including your beloved Dickel rye and high West in the same mashup. Looking forward to it!
Thanks, going to barrel age Manhattans and was looking for a good rye to use. Cheers
Pikesville came out on top for me too if you remember. That is a solid whiskey and well worth the 50 bucks
Definitely sir! Love it.
Pikesville is an excellent rye. For a budget rye, ~$20 and my typical go to rye, it's the Dickel Rye. To me it is an excellent value / flavor. Cheers.
Thanks Carl. I enjoy Dickel Rye as well. Definitely plan on doing a lower ABV blind rye mash-up which will include Dickel. Cant wait! Cheers!
Where are you finding pikesville for 20bucks. Cheapest I can get it for is 40 bucks.
@@carscigarsscotchnwatches5158 - that is ~$20 for the Dickel Rye not the Pikesville. The Pikesville is $60 in PA.
@@carlh4350 ahh, sorry, my mistake. Price variation is crazy these days

MW It's pass noon now and a cool, wet day so after a bowl of chili gonna try 3 ryes. Cheers.
Hahaha Monica. Yeah I've been sipping on alot of ryes which prompted me to do this tasting. The 101 rye was great. Really orangey. Cheers

@@monicawillits1624 yes! Totally. There is a candy store near me that sells chocolate covered orange peel strips and that's what it reminded me of.
Pikesville is my number 2. Number one is Angels Envy but it is nearly 100 bucks so pikesville wins on value
2 bottles of Rittenhouse instead of 1 bottle of Pikesville will always win for me
I sip on Rittenhouse house alot. Definitely one of my favorites. 2 bottles instead of 1 is always a wise choice. Cheers.
Great review, I enjoy all of them for different reasons, always fun to do a blind review and see what you really like and why! Cheers buddy
Thanks Scott! Was surprised the knob Creek came in last.
Great comparison blind tasting, Jason! I still need to try Pikes😊 Cheers brother
Thanks bro. Pikesville is a great rye but the WT 101 was hot on it's heels. Cheers buddy!
Really enjoyed this blind review. I wondered how WT101 compared. You have a very detailed review. It really helps me narrow into what I would like.

Nice video! My friend and I were shocked when Knob Creek came in 4th, but shows how little we know about rye.
I actually was too! After I shot the video I was shaking my head. Lol. Cheers!

Great video. 🤙
Thanks Juan!
My favorite Rye is still the always available and very inexpensive Beefsteak.
Nice shootout, the Pikesville is 100 bux Canadian, i can land the Knob creek for 52..lol
$90 in Ontario, but the last 2 I got were on clearance, 20% off. Heaven Hill products are priced way too high in Canada.
I head that about HH products in Canada. Such a shame. I would stick with the knob Creek at that price.
