To remove pipe: Point curser at pipe, press and HOLD "X" to delete pipe.

I think the waves are currently bugged. They're supposed to destroy light equipment like the small miners. As you saw, one of the objectives if you chose to stay on the planet (rather than escaping) is to deactivate them.
If you log out and back in you may be able to delete the pipe. Happened to me with a conveyor
Strange you didn't get the end of the demo message with the first tidal wave. An update for the demo came out just a few days ago.

so the wave only damages power structures, for wind turbines just remove before wave hits, if u build the large solar panel it will withstand it
your pump needs to be in the water :)
the pump does not need to be in water, when he put it on the ground it was providing 97L of water
Why don't you fly above the wave?
The pump has to be build on the coast. It won't work inland.
It actually did work inland, but they will probably change that in a future update.
the ship will be sw of here as I have a same setup as you. don't put beacons everywhere as current base will have the house icon
