Good Luck! - Навчання та стиль
as someone who linocuts fairly regularly im glad that more people can use a cheaper alternative to professional printing supplies. i mainly linocut in my art class and i probably ive thought about how i would probably miss it once i finish school, but since professional printing paint and a printing press are SO expensive i probably wouldn't be able to afford it.
you could always make your own :)
I know there are commercial incentives for making tutorials, but nevertheless it's a big task, so thank you. I'm sure I'm not the only person who is grateful.

Back in the old days, linocut was a popular children's activity. Even so, it does take a real expert to make linocut prints that look good.
You are so generous to include the line drawing even. Thank you very much!
You’re welcome!
Yay! Thank you so much for this beginners tutorial. I am eager to learn how to print. I have my beginners supplies (almost) and am really excited for part two 🤗 Thank you for sharing your knowledge! Blessings 🙏✨
Hooray! I’m excited for you! I hope I get to see what you make. Let me know if you have any questions too. Printmaking feel second nature for me, and I think I’m forgetting to explain stuff sometimes 😅
Thank you for all of these tutorials! I have been mildly obsessed with linocut for the better part of a year, and I finally hit the art store yesterday and got almost everything I need to start…. except I’m kinda paralyzed by needing to sketch something! 😂 I’m an accountant not an artist so even this part of the process is kinda alien to me. 🙂
That’s awesome! Have you finished the print yet? Picking an image can be a road block in the beginning. I recommend doing anything that you’re interested in or enjoy looking at. That’s why I do nature, plants, animals, and landscapes. Scroll through your camera roll and pick something you took a photo of because you thought it looked cool. Then simplify it to an outline of the shapes. Decide if you want to carve the linework into the block or carve away the area around the linework. Then print! It helps if you think of your first few prints and blocks as experiments and a learning process. Enjoy trying something new and don’t try to make it perfect.
Thanks for posting....perfect and easy to follow.
Thanks for sharing :) Its nice to see a way to try it out without having to make a big investment!
You’re welcome! I really want to see you make a print sometime 😉
THis is very clear and helpful Excellent. Your drawing looks great with the cropping. :-)
Thankyou ...looking forward to trying this again! It's been years 😂🤣🥰😉 Happy days to you and all who watch 😋😎
You'll be surprised at how fast it comes back. Just push through the initial clumsy carving stage!
Thanks... yeah it's so satisfying sweetheart 🌟🏝🏖🏝🌟💛
Love this! Question- what do you use to stain lino for larger pieces? And is it better to stain before drawing/transferring?
I haven’t done really large lino pieces yet. I switch to wood for bigger works, but I would use thinned water proof ink or acrylic paint to stain lino. With wood I just brush on a thin layer of watercolor. I’ve also started transferring only the sections I need to carve and not the design I’m trying to carve around.
Hi, thank you so much for the video!! How you storage the print after they are done?
You're welcome! I keep them in a binder of clear sleeve made for storing art/photos.
first you have to make sure its not sticky, then you can store it wherever you want, of course, you shouldnt bend it like any normal paper.
Would you have recommendations for cheaper or more diy options before investing in all the materials you listed. Like parchment paper for tracing paper and a big eraser for the lino Cut block. This panini has made a boyo broke
Hm, that's a good suggestion. I haven't thought of that.
This may sound like a dumb question, but how long do the blocks last for printing?
It’s not a dumb question! They can last for hundreds of prints. If they are cleaned and stored reasonably after each use, you can use them for years!
@@smishstudio Thank you! You're videos have inspired me to try this. 🙏🏻💕🙂
@@morningstar5569 you’re welcome! Excited for you to start printmaking 🙌🏻
Hi
Where can I find the line drawing of this design?
Hey! There's a link in the details of the video - at the bottom. Lmk if it's not working tho!
How do you get circles to not look like a terrible mess ?
I apply slow consistent pressure and turn the block while holding the carving tool steady. Having a sharp tool also helps!
Прикольная
Any tipps on how to get rid of the smell of the lino block? Can you just wadh them with dish soap? I don't think I can concentrate on working while enduring the feeling of the inside of my nose peeling off... haha :D
Woah, I’ve never noticed the smell before. I guess it has one if it’s super fresh. Maybe burn a candle or incense diffuser while carving? I don’t recommend washing them more than cleaning off surface ink.
is linocut linoleum printmaking?
Using this to print beans
You're making a bean design?
