  • Stubble Burning has been the one the major causes of Delhi’s air pollution for decades.
According to experts, farmers in northern India burn about 23 million tonnes of crop stubble every year.
Now, the effects of stubble burning have led to a massive pollution crisis.
The government has tried to stop the practice - but many farmers are desperate to hold onto the tradition and are reluctant to try alternatives.
Pragyah Singh from BBC India tells us more about the role stubble burning has on pollution in India.
