Very important subject sir... thank you for touching it Gently... It needs more R amd D in similar way .. and our administration/ common man should realise it before it's too late... best wishes...😊
Perhaps this has been thought through already; can the rice crop residue not be used as biomass ? Let's say the Punjab Govt initiates a scheme to establish biomass based power plants and both the power producer and the farmers can benefit from this scheme.
sir, the question still remains unanswered that why such things were not si common 20 yrs back. Is the industrial activity in Delhi NCR responsible for tthe same...
Also, farmers plant vegetables for a month now before growing wheat for Rabi season. This requires quick prep of the land thus stubble burning. Previously, farmers would let the field rest for this month.
Conservation of water by drip or sprinkler system should be considered urgently, like rice sugar cane too needs a lot of water but it's effect on pollution is less the entire cane is used for sugar and bagass product
With the best IITs, Agricultural Institutes, IIMs & other Management Institutes in India, and with growing startups (and Unicorns), huge Private Corporates manufacturing various products & services, why can't the Central and concerned State governments arrive at the best solutions, and fast. Clearly there's NO WILL and also huge ego-clashes for political one-upmanship. Sick. Meanwhile, no accountability for the related deaths.
Very soon, in about 10 years, Punjab will run out of water ; they will diversify with no other alternative. Second high time, India worked with Land Institute Kansas USA to grow perennials -wheat and rice which requires less water. and no stubs to take out.

Reaper binder machines should be incentivised which cleans fields same fashion as labors do
Great summary! I always wondered about this. Thank you

Yes Government of Punjab on basis of an MoU with Germany procured machines which can produce electricity using this crop residue.....
Conservation of water by drip or sprinkler system should be considered urgently, like rice sugar cane too needs a lot of water but it's effect on pollution is less the entire cane is used for sugar and bagass product
One kg of Rice requires 3500 litres of water
What part of the pollution is the crop residue burning causing? I thought the air quality in Delhi was due to construction, and industrial pollution.
You are partially right. But stubble burning contributes to the pollution too
Thanks. Any idea of the numbers/percentage?@@K_Bharat_Kumar

Punjab don't suit rice cultivation.....they are forcing the soil by doing so...this the soil quality is also going down
