I have found that the denoise feature on Lightroom also improves the colour of your image, for example, skin tones and obvious changes in colour like lipstick, gums and the white in eyes tend to mush together when your crank up the ISO, but with this denoiser I have been able to save so many images. I see this as the modern equivelant of the chromatic abberation/vignette corrections that have been around for so long, as instead of buying expensive new lenses, you can affectively get an extra 2-3 stops of exposure out of cheaper lenses. The one majore issue is that it can make images look too smooth above 28-35% intencity, but overall even a slight improvment in grain can completly save the image. 10/10 would recommend going back and applying the filter to old photos you might have scrapt due to the noise.
Great video! I'm planning on getting this camera but with the cheaper lens (XC 15-45mm) because the XF 18-55mm is higher in price. Does the camera overheat when shooting stills or is it only a problem while recording videos? Many thanks
Thank you! That sounds like a good plan 😊 The camera only overheated for me personally when I was in direct sunlight all day and filming high codec video. If you were to primarily shoot stills with the occasional video, then I think you should be ok.
This is one of the best camera review I've ever seen! (trust me I watched a ton of them) Very detailed test in different aspects on par with REAL vlog senario.
Brilliant review! Thanks for the hard work:) This is the camera for me. 10 bit. IBIS. Lovely colors. Headphone and mic. Durable battery. And very small:)
This review is what pushed me over the edge to get the x-s20! I picked it up a few days ago but it's my first mirrorless so I'm learning a lot! I'm trying to understand lenses better and I'm looking for help from anyone. I like the kit lens (15-45 mm), but I'd like to add an ultra wide that's good for low light and maybe one other. I'm drawn to the 8mm for a few reasons because of this review and a few others... but I'm definitely a little lost on what may be best. I'll be in Asia in October so I'm looking for a lens or two that will be good for street photography, landscape, architecture and the occasional portrait, and something that's good in low light conditions (I'm thinking night time scenery specifically). I've watched a few youtube videos but I'm still a little lost on what kind of lenses I should be looking at, especially without breaking the bank if I need to get more than one additional lens. :/
Thank you! Unfortunately not, I only had a short period of time to test this camera and wasn't able to test every single function. During my time using this camera there was only one occasion when it over heated and that was when I was shooting 4K for over 2 hours in direct sunlight, which is to be expected. Other than that one occasion, I had no problems with it at all. Sorry I couldn't help more!
I'm glad I could help 😊 The monitor I was using to record the internal menu system was the Atomos Ninja V. Here's a link: www.wilkinson.co.uk/atomos-ninja-v-pro-kit/
hiya great vlog as always i use affinity photo editing and im looking into swapping my current setup from nikon z7 and om1 rto wither the xs20 and 50-140 or 18-55 red badge lens or the xh2 or xh2s with series of lenses
Interesting camera, especially given we are waiting for a "flagship" Sony camera. Sony often manage to underwhelm and I can see people not prepared to pay £2000 for an APSC, snapping up this Fuji instead.
hey there thats a beautifull video I Just wanted to ask is that got overheating issues while recording videos, I am intermediate cinematographer planning to buy my first ever camera Sony Fx 30 but when I saw your video I got confused please tell me the best one cause it is going to be my A,B,C every camera ! till now was renting cameras and using them but now its time to have my own. Thanks in Advance
Great video. You showed how beautiful the scenery is in a great way with this fab camera. I’m very tempted by one but would have to trade x-t4. I like the size of this though
I honestly think this maybe the best vlogging fuji camera for most people. Smaller and a lot cheaper than the xh2 and xh2S and no flip screen on the xt5
Yes all on the XF 18-55mm F2.8-4 R lens. There's a clip of me walking on the XF 8mm at 7:08, which might give you a better idea of the framing if you were to use the 8mm for vlogging.
Really great review Olivia! Much better than some which just throw facts and stats at you! Most reviews for this camera have been geared towards video and vlogging capabilities but how did you find it shooting stills? I only shoot stills so wondering if there are better Fuji’s for this! Thank you!
Thank you! I found the stills capabilities really good actually, great image quality, sharpness throughout the images and really nice colours. It's a great camera if you need something nice and compact. I think the question to ask yourself is whether you want an APS-C or full-frame sensor, which will depend on what level of photography it is you do.😊
Yes I believe they have, super exciting! The AF in this camera is one of the things that really stood out to me so taking it over to the X-T5 and X-H2 in a firmware update is promising 😃
IBIS doesn’t seem very effective in video, even compared to my older LUMIX cameras. Shame, it would have been a perfect camera otherwise, I hope they manage to fix it through firmware.
Fair enough, however Lumix got one of the best IBIS out there, even older ones I think. Personally, when Vlogging I like a bit of shake and stuff, as it feels more natural. Gimbal like footage is great for B Rolls, but you probably can achieve that with this Ibis if you know how. But I totally get you. Imo it‘s still unmatched for it‘s price atm with all it‘s features like Open Gate 6.2K. The neewest Lumix s5 ii has open gate 6K for ~600€ more (ofc there‘s more to it)
@@einShawn I think there’s a sweet spot between shakes and gimbal that is right for vlogging or casual filmmaking. I do very much like the value proposition of the S-X20 though, the image quality is brilliant. Like a mini S5-II. And the cheapest camera with open gate as far as I know (apart from GoPro).
This camera only overheated once and that was after a full day shooting stills and 4K footage in direct sunlight with 25-30 degree celsius heat. I would say that's pretty good going compared to other cameras on the market!
Wow, the results look superb. Nice photos and video footage. I think you've convinced me to go for an xs20 over the cheaper xs20 (edit: I meant xs10! 😄). The audio was also pretty good in my opinion, Malta looks beautiful too! Thank you 😊
Excellent review! I was looking hard at the X-T5, but we travel and I wanted something smaller. I now take the X-E3. The 8mm is also very tempting. I use a Samyang 12mm, but all the reviews of the 8mm have been good. As for noise reduction, while I have LR and PS, I use DxO Pure Raw 3. It does and amazing job. You might want to download a trial version and compare to LR. I'm subscribed to LR so I need to test it as well.
The 8mm lens was amazing for landscape shots and certainly when I was in the towns in small/tight streets! Great for capturing the whole scene. Oh ok, I will give the DxO Pure Raw 3 a go. We have the Adobe Creative Suite package so LR is easy enough for us to use, hence why we tend to edit our images in LR and PS.
I love the colours in the landscape but when it comes to her face: can you see how unnaturally pink it is? I sow on screenshot she used: standard colour profile and STD DR100. Can we get a natural skin tones in this camera? I love the specs but at my age I don't want to look like Barbie.
those colors looked pretty OK to me... but you always have the option to turn down the saturation or put some green in the WB, because at that moment the camera was on full auto and the WB can be kinda umpreddictable on that setting but you can put a shift towards green into your AUTO WB to compensate for the magenta if it pleases you
Hi, Jason and Kim. Most of the video is shot using the Fujifilm X-S20, including all the vlogging sections, scripted parts on the balcony, stills and video samples and even some of the b-roll when in Malta. The only parts that are not Fujifilm is the b-roll of the Fujifilm X-S20 camera and the park/garden section where I am demonstrating the AF abilities. You can find this at 5:57-6:13, 6:20-6:32, 8:31-8:41, 11:46-12:0. We have several different review videos and many varied brands so practically this wouldn't possible. We would have a very disorganised workflow, especially when it comes to colouring and log formats. We tend to stick to Sony for the simple reason of filming B-Roll of either myself or my colleagues, who are using the kit we are reviewing. We are incredibly lucky in the sense that we get to work with many different brands and having to switch systems all the time is just not necessary. You will find a lot of creators out there have their own in-house kit when reviewing other brands and unfortunately that is just how it is. We would love to be able to use every single brand out there, for every single video we film but it’s just not practical. Hope you understand and enjoyed the video, regardless thanks for watching. Olivia.
Sorry, but you simply can’t get the same results from a phone that you can get with an interchangeable lens camera - sensor size, autofocus, lens options… smartphones have very good cameras and very good video options, but these absolutely do not compare to any decent interchangeable lens camera.

Welcome to Malta! I'm using an XT2, XS20 and Z9.
Ooo a variety of kit there, how are you finding them?
The Fuji is mainly used for street and casual photography, while the Z9 for motorsport. Both systems perform very well.@@WilkinsonCameras

Would have love a weather sealing to make it the ultimate travel camera
Agreed but that means an increase in price so I think it's a fair balance for the type of audience this camera is targeted to. 🤷♀️
Please confirm whether it’s weather sealed??
Unfortunately it is not weather sealed. This is to keep the price point down and relatively budget friendly.
