The story is he was playing a concert that night, or the next, staying in a nearby hotel, and went out for a walk and came upon this guy playing some of his songs. He asked, "mind if I join you?" Thankfully somebody had a little 8mm camera. He apparently wasn't carrying money, but had someone go back later and give this guy a "substantial" tip, and tickets to the concert. The guy appears in the documentary film, "Springsteen and I" (2013), and fills in some of the details. Twenty-five years later it was still a thrill of a lifetime.
Back then you could not grab your phone and call your friend Bruce Springsteen was playing on the streets. All those people are so lucky they were at the right time in the right place
Not quite true. I got called at home twice in the summer of 82 that I needed to hurry down to The Pony - Bruce is coming on! What a great summer. Also saw him at Big Man's twice. Once with Beaver Brown (premiere of Small Things I think and again with Dave Edmunds!
No, Bruce is the Boss, because he's paying his touring bandmembers and crew's paycheck. One of them called him 'the boss' once in the early days of his career. "Ask the boss" someone said once, he answered another man's question. After that, everybody (bandmembers for touring (not E-street band) /crew/fans and media) called Bruce The Boss.
How fantastic is the internet, my dad talked about this, it brought a tear to his eye seeing anf reliving this epic moment in history. Thanks for uploading.
What I can't grasp about Springsteen is his ability to keep astounding the audience throughout his career, always pulling off something entirely unpredictable and mesmerizing...I saw him three times this summer and each show had completely surreal moments during which you had to pinch yourself... I came to Milan expecting a three hour show that would blow me away, and what I got was a show verging on four hours during which both Bruce and The Band exuded sheer prowess...
Playing guitar with Bruce, in the middle of the street...PRICELESS! As long as there are such artists like Bruce Springsteen, there will be hope for a better world. Well done, Boss!
This song makes me sad and happy. As a kid my alcoholic dad loved Bruce Springsteen. I hated my dads drinking, but every time this song was on my dad was the calmest person, kind and caring. I miss him
A legal and horrible drug that took too many good dads, made them sick and sometimes mean like my dad, then took him way too early. My dad got sober a year before he died and we became best friends and friends for the first time. I tell you this because I was blessed to see that it was the alcohol and a disease that made him hate himself and put it on his family. Your dad loved ya pal. Goodnight, don't let the bedbugs bite.
I got a tear in my eye reading that. It's the same for me only my dad is still alive. He's an alcoholic and in a terrible state but calms down when he hears Bob Dylan. May your dad RIP. I'm praying (despite the fact that I'm an atheist) for mine to stop drinking.
Very Nice initiative of Bruce. He was walking down the big commercial Street of Copenhagen called Ströget and sees this Springsteen inpersinator. He joints him. The next day he plays his regular Tunnel of Love Express tour concert at the old Idraets Park Stadium in front of 58 000 paying people.
This is amazing, and everyone is being respectful. Just there enjoying the random show. Just think this would be lost if this person didn't have a camera. This is 88' not like everyone in the audience had one. Wow!
Era Tarr he was an idiot. Jumping up and down playing wrong chords and trying to sing. Bruce probably cut it short because of this clown. He knew like 2 chords which he played over and over too loud, while he jumped around trying to steal the show. Nobody wanted to hear him. He screwed up a nice event.

Bruce Springsteen a singer who will put the same fervor to perform in front of 200 people in a gymnasium at the end of Alabama, as in front of 100,000 people in a stadium.
