Everybody already said it, but Dear Mrs. Byrd is great! And it is lighthearted overall, but there are definitely sad parts and heavier things. But it's a great read, and I think you'll love it! I also have that Syrie James book about Charlotte Bronte's diaries, and I really want to read it. Just haven't gotten to it yet!
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on The Secret Diaries of Charlotte Bronte and Shirley. Jane Eyre is the only Charlotte Bronte book I've read and I haven't heard much about her other books. However, the diaries are fictional. Syrie James finds it highly likely that Charlotte wrote diaries during her life, but that if she did they were likely hidden away and never discovered. This book is a look at what her diaries might have looked like if they did exist.
Dear Mrs. Bird is light for a WWII historical fiction... has some tough parts but humor woven in too. I hope you like it. Looks like a great December stack!
Snow-Crossed Letters is half the length and weight of Matchmakers if you need to go shorter. And it's still free today so... just throwing it out if you want to go shorter. Then again, Izzie turns Christmas songs into impromptu parodies, so it could make you sing odd things at odd times... Just throwing it out there. I loved Dear Mrs. Byrd. Oh... and you may have taken over my ENTIRE monthly TBRs in 2025. Why am I so excited about this?
@@jessicaolin4261 The bit about, "You can't send a package to a gal who's waiting for her next historical novel and not have her rip it open on sight. It's not logical!" Me... that's me.
I have Dear Mrs Bryd book-bought the trilogy but haven't read them yet - and notsure why LOL! been reading a lot of middle grade and picture books LOL and some vintage nancy drew and light stuff though I did a Ngaio Marsh detective alleyn #2 but not sure how I like those - sooo many characters to keep track of and in this one I didn't even care about the dead guy or the murdered until he sttuck again and then i cared. I ordered ghost talker too - didn't sound like my thing but the mystery sounds interesting and it was 3 o 4 bucks on kindle so!
Looks like an amazing TBR pile. I recently finished "A poetry Handbook" by Mary Oliver for the November RYBC (it rolled over a bit into Dec.) and then I finished "Rogue Protocol" by Martha Wells (book 3 in the Murderbot Diaries) -- for the December RYBC -Montgomery-Anne side. Now my plans are mood reading: I am working on "Where Darkness Dwells". I think I am going to finish it but it is so depressing...that I am literally clinging to what you said that the light wins in the end...cuz so far the best thing is the writing which is lyrical and the glowing rainbow mushrooms. Though, I am also enjoying the Christian parallels (it is almost reminds me of Frank Peretti if he wrote light thriller vibes). I am also thinking of reading more Murderbot Diaries and I have started "The Case for Christ". I will see where this month goes (as far as my reading goes). So far, better than November.
Not sure how you feel about superhero books but if you want a light Christmas read with superheroes then I’d recommend A Superhero for Christmas by H. L. Burke. It’s really good and one of my favorites!
Richard Paul Evans has some Christmas books that are deeper than a lot of others. For a feel good Christmas read, I'd recommend The Christmas Joy Ride because of the friendship in it.
Oh! And A Christmas Carol..but also listening to the dramatization by The Merry Beggars. I started that 3 or 4 years ago and last year added also reading the book. It is my little tradition....
Dear Mrs. Byrd is a lighter book and lots of humor too. It's also the beginning of a series. I have to read the next one. Here's my Christmas book rec, even though it's not completely Christmas. It's The Thirteenth Day of Christmas by Jason F. Wright. I don't regularly re read books, but that one I've read at least 3 times. It's a small, but powerful book. IMHO!
Charlotte Bronte and Miss Marple...these are December recommendations I can actually see myself reading! I’ve primarily seen romance related TBR’s, and I have the hardest time wanting to read straight romance..so thank you for the variety. Also, have you read The Brontes by Juliet Barker?
I'll be reading A Christmas Carol by Dickens, Christmas Day at Kirby Cottage (Trollope, a ss), Christmas Mummers by Charlotte Mary Yonge (novella), Heir of Redclyffe by CMYonge then mood reading. You should really get Christmas at Thompson Hall by Trollope. It's a short story on proj guten. It is HILARIOUS!
❤📚📚❤️ Happy December reading! I'm reading Warrior of the Wild by Tricia Levenseller as my standalone book for your Read My Bookshelf challenge. I'm also reading The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, Marilla of Green Gables by Sarah McCoy and Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys. For Christmas week, I'm going to read A Wallflower Christmas by Lisa Kleypas.
I was not a fan of The Matchmakers of Holly Circle. Sorry! I just could not understand why they didn't talk for 10 long years! Especially when I found out what kept them apart.
Fun list! Enjoy!

That makes sense, I can't wait to read it!
Oh i loved Dear Mrs Byrd. It reads easy compared to those classics but the war part is sad. And there are some funny parts.
Dear Mrs. Bird is light for a WWII historical fiction... has some tough parts but humor woven in too. I hope you like it. Looks like a great December stack!
I could go for light for WWII, that will probably help me not just avoid it.
I should target to finish Dickens’ Christmas Carol for this December.

I read Snow Crossed Letters over the weekend-it was adorable!! Enjoyed it so much 🎄
Hehe, can't wait to read both of those from you!

Hard to believe it is already December TBR time!! Dear Mrs. Byrd is one I've had my eye on too.
I've heard really good things so hopefully it lives up!

I'll check it out, thanks! 😊
I’ve had Dear Mrs Bird for a while but haven’t felt compelled to pick it up. I’ll be interested I seeing what you think of it if you get to it
Yes, dear Mrs bird. Do it! 😉

a recommendations Video about books with Winter/Snow/Christmas themes would be cool :)
That will be coming! 😊
Oh! And A Christmas Carol..but also listening to the dramatization by The Merry Beggars. I started that 3 or 4 years ago and last year added also reading the book. It is my little tradition....
What I still want to find is a Christmas suspense that is heavy on the suspense
Let me know if you find a Christmas book that is heavy on suspense! I can' think of one right now . . .
@@ChantelReadsAllDay i haven't either but I am looking!

I'm reading Elin Hilderbrand's Winter Street series this Christmas so far I'm loving it!
I definitely need to do some Christmas reading soon!
Ooh nice TBR! I have only read Jane Eyre from the Bronté sisters, but Shirly sounds really good, although that page count is... umm yeah... 😅
Haha, it's a little daunting but hopefully I don't let that stop me!
@ChantelReadsAllDay Yes hopefully not! Good luck!!
Awesome TBR 🫶🏻🎄

Ha, yeah, you aren't going to find a romance heavy TBR here! I have not read The Brontes, have you?
@ I just borrowed it. It’s huge, so I’m hoping it’s good! I’m planning to dive in to it next.
I'm reading leotas garden by francine rivers. I think next I'm in the mood for something moody and gothic vibes

I'll read Christmas at Thompson Hall, thanks for the recommendation!
Try reading classics on an e -reader, you can make the font larger. This has helped me a lot!

I am reading David Baldacci The Christmas Train. I hear it is really good
Read that last year & I really liked it!
@amybunner1158 awesome!!!! I keep hearing it is really good so I am going to start it soon!

I can definitely struggle with the miscommunication trope (or lack of communication), we'll see how it goes!
Great TBR!
