So glad, you received a Vista 35. It's one of the smoothest drawing bows I've shot. The other thing I like is the weight, it allows you to add stabilizers without making the bow too heavy. Can't wait to see how you go with the 35.
Big congrats on the new bow and great that you chose one of the smaller manufacturers and there by putting some shine on them. Like yourself I too shoot in bow hunter class and seeing you chose a 35 ata bow really gets me excited, I'm finding it hard to make longer ata bows balance with just one stabilizer ( per rules of bow hunter class) so your review is just what I'm looking for, great job keep em coming
Hi , Iv been smashing it with the vista 33 , won the state championships today with it and it is remarkable how still it holds , like it holds crazy still , I’m a dealer for Athens in the Uk and shoot target with the vista 31 and 33 , both have chewed through the serving on the roller cable , I will add that both have had a good few thousand arrows through them . By far the most stable aiming bow Iv ever owned
Just wanted to let you know, after watching your video, I too ordered a Vista 35 60 lb. bow. Just received it a week ago - it's just like you said - it's one of the smoothest bows that I've ever pulled back. Thanks for the video.
I’ve watched both ur Athens bow reviews the first one seen that video then found a Athens bow bought it and man can’t wait to get my bow. Thanks for ur videos great information
My 9-year old compound is 35" ATA, 6.25" brace height, 4.5 pounds, IBO up to 340 fps. Can't say the specs on the Athens Vista 35 are all that much different. I really like the draw cycle & rock solid anchor of my current bow. I would feel stupid buying a new bow, because it would pretty much do the exact same thing my current bow does (with its EZ V Sight & all). If I misplaced my current bow, however, the Athens Vista 35 would be a great replacement option to consider. I really like a 34-35" ATA bow with a 6-7" brace height. Thanks for sharing your new bow with us!
Great Video!! Very Well Done!! I absolutely love the "Green Beret" color!! I am so looking forward to see you hunting and shooting your new bow. Your video convinced me. I have got to get an Athens's Vista Bow.
Love Athens bows!! I forgot which one I had about 5-6 yrs ago, but it was every bit if not better shooting than most companies. The only reason I sold it was the mass weight. A little heavy for my liking. I might look into this lineup very soon though. Looks awesome 👍
I can’t tell ya how exited I am to receive my vista 33. Never shot Athens but after watching your review on the 31 and multiple other reviews I pulled the trigger on one! I’ll have mine this week 🤘
Hi Nate. Have you ever shot a #40-50 Vista 33 and speed tested it now that you are a shop owner? Interested in one in my elder years, wondering how much performance I may be giving up for shoulder comfort. Thanks. I will have to make a pilgrimage to Phillipsburg on my visits East from Wisconsin! Good luck with the new shop.
The energy retention on the RTX cam is great. Seeing a lot of solid speed even with my wife shooting 25"/40#. Especially for general shooting and typical whitetail distances in WI, I think a 50# bow would be brilliant.
Once again....very concise with your description. What is best is your excitement for this new bow. Once again...Just as I'm ready to settle on a new Hunting bow. AJA tosses a wrench in. Ill have to find a Athens Archery™ Dealer (certified if they do that) and draw on back.
Thanks for the vid and congrats on the new bow!!! Wow! Looks Awesome!!! I plan on ordering a Vista 33 this week, but have been pulling my hair out trying to decide between the new, really cool looking Autumn Blaze camo or the Green Beret/Verde combo like yours. Seeing your bow makes the decision much easier...Thank You
I'm looking at a new bow this year. Really like your video. My archery shop near me is a dealer, so I'm gonna have to check out their bow. I'm leaning towards the 33". Thanks keep the great videos coming.
channel quality is damn good. deserves a bell notification! im intrigued by these smaller companies. i do have a favorite local brand, Bear Archery, but I am open minded.
Like the new bow. I put a 10" Conquest Control Freak on my Prime Nexus 4. The 1 thing I like the most on that bow is the 6.5" brace height. Most manufacturers r putting a 6" b.h. on that style of bow. The thing I like about mine is the draw cycle. Judging by your reaction the draw cycle is like the Prime. I also own a Prime Centergy. I found while practicing from a 🌳 with a saddle that the 1/4" shorter draw is a good thing. My Centergy is a fixed 29.5" draw. I put a longer D-loop on it so my anchor would be more forgiving with my thumb release & so I would have a rock solid anchor point. I have the Nexus shooting @ 80% letoff. I prefer the crisper shot. The Centergy is my backup bow & has a higher letoff to achieve that anchor point. Glad to hear the bow tuned well. Same experience I have found. ❤ my Victory VAP Micro arrows.
Sweet! I can tell you're gonna have a blast with this bow. I've noticed the Athens is being used by several of the UA-cam guys in Australia. They are killing pigs, sheep and goats all day long. You gotta make several vids of sighting it in and doing some 3-d shots with it. 👍👍👍
Man I need to go find a Vista 31 and 33 to shoot. I'm looking forward to seeing you shoot this thing some more and give some longer term feedback. It looks like they hit it out of the park this year. Maybe that lends to them getting a little more recognition heading into this next season
Very well done and informative video as always. I’m in the process of searching for s new bow for next season and I’ve been very pleased with what I’m seeing in these bows from Athens. As a taller guy (6’3”) and a longer draw length (29.5”) I’m really considering a longer ATA bow.
C’mon we know the reason you took off the ring, it was love at first sight with this bow. It’s awesome that you’re representing smaller bow companies, not just another Hoyt, Mathews fanboy. Looks like a beautiful bow.
You’re going to talk me right into buying one of those!! I’ve been waiting to see if you were going to demo one for us. Sounds really quiet in the video. Thanks for sharing, brother!
@@averagejackarchery so I just wanted to clarify. You work at an archery shop and have access to the new Bowtech, Mathews, Hoyt, and others and you purchased an Athens Vista for your personal bow? First chance I get after the holidays I’m driving as far as it takes to shoot an Athens. They must be awesome!!
@@davidwatkins6575 Well, if a company is going to make a bow that a) fits my draw length, b) doesn't charge nearly as much as the competition (including cool colors), and c) offers it with a cam and mod system that's incredibly adjustable, you're darn right I'll take it over the others!
Really hard to find any case that'll let you keep that behemoth of a sight on for transport. Well, a cheap one anyways, and especially a soft case. 30-06 makes some bigger cases that don't break the bank. I'd look into their lineup and see if anything fits.
Great Choice -!!!!!!!! Thanks Jack GREAT VIDEO THANKS JACK I BELIEVE IM GETTING THE 31 or the Mathew’s prima I’m only a 25 -D & 50 draw weight so That’s why I’m thinking of the prima but I love that Athens 31 vista
Hi Average Jack! Based on your video, I took a chance and ordered a Vista 35. I'm 6'2", and have always done well with long ATA bows. I have a 31.5" draw, and really like knowing I will get maximum velocity. The riser cutouts, the smooth pull, and incredible back wall were all as you described. I even went with the Green Beret color! This completes my compound bow shopping for 2022. Between this, the Bowtech Revolt XL, and the Elite Terrain, I don't think I'll get very bored... OAN, how's your archery store coming along?
Wondering if you had a chance to shoot the Mathew’s Atlas and if it compares to this Athens vista 35? Looking to make a big bow purchase this year and my current bow is almost 30 year old PSE. I am a bigger guy 6’6” with a 31 inch draw length and have a 67lb draw length on older cams that seem so much smoother than most bow cams currently. Love your content it has got me back into shooting again after taking 20 years off.
As far as I'm aware, it's the same standard of application with Kolorfusion camo patterns (not film dipped) and solids in a fused color style as well. Definitely not a standard paint finish.
Have you paper tuned yet? If you were and needed to get rid of a right/left tear that moving the rest couldn't fix, would this bow need cam spacers or shims, or is there another, easier tuning method?
I have paper tuned it, yes. And I won't lie, I needed to shim. Not Athens' fault. I lie outside of most "vanilla" specs for bows and have always needed some sort of tuning with yokes, shims, or SET technology on my bows of the past. The V35 I didn't need to purchase anything separate. The wider limb profile means more, thicker shims on the axle. All I had to do was move one of the thinnest shims from one side of the cam to the other and I had the bow eating every arrow I could safely throw at it.
Looks like a great do-all bow, plus the price tag of their 35" ata bow is actually lower than most other bows in that category. that thing would look awesome in the Treezyn camo ;-).
You can say its not a speed bow but from what i have seen with the reviews of these new Athens is they are getting the speeds that they advertise as IBO! Most of the flagship bows this year are way under IBO speed.
I want to shoot one but the nearest dealer to is about 88 miles away. 🤦♂️ have to make a little trip and promise Household 6 (wife) I won't buy a bow that day. 🤷♂️👾🤦♂️🤦♂️
Smoothness is user specific. Unless it's a speed bow and meant to be harsh to get the speed necessary. Both the SS and the Vista bows are incredible on the draw cycle.
Not sure what to think. A few months back I bought my first bow and based my decision on some of your reviews and videos. I got the Elite Terrain. It's a good bow, though with some limitations. Shortly after getting it I see you switched to Athens. Did I make the wrong decision? New to archery I am amazed at the cost of everything and to switch bows at this point is out of the question. Interestingly, both Elite and Athens are only about a half hour from my home.
Thanks very much for your review! Since I have a draw of 31" too, I would be quite interested, if you have shot the 2022 Peak 38 as well and how you see both bows compare for unknown 3D?
I have not shot the Peak 38, just the V35. I shot my first cold 300 round tonight and went 299/15X with my Bowhunter rig. I'd say it's a killer all around rig too.
Thanks for the quick info. How do you see it in comparison to target bows for 3D at your draw length, e.g. the Elite Rezult, Bowtech Reckoning, TRX 38. Thanks
I will be. Hunting season is over. Used it latter part of late archery season here in PA. Right now my full focus is on indoor this winter leading into spring/summer 3D shoots.
Killed my biggest buck ever with an accomplice 32 back in 2011. Have always been a fan of their bows. Was wondering if I ready the title correctly because I know you are normally an elite guy
@@averagejackarchery The newest bow I have tried of theirs was the first line of SUMMIT bows before the modular cams… I absolutely loved that bow. I’ve had like 5 Revealtion 6’s and regretted getting rid of all of them
Athens has really been making some nice bows. Hope they start to show up more across the market. If you have time, could you measure the riser length? I’m curious. Thanks.
Hey Nate! I currently shoot A PSE Bow Madness Unleashed, I believe it is either a 2019 or 2020 mfr. It is a 60 lb bow and that is where it is set. I am 6’4”. I only use it for hunting. It is set for a 29.5” draw. The axle to axle is 32.4”. Brace is 6” and let off is 85%. What would be your rec for me, the Athens 31 or 35? Hunting with the 35, I doubt I would notice the additional 2.6” in axle hgt. I have no intent to compete. Thanks in advance.
Just curious... how do you determine that the Athens Vista is "my personal bow for 2022" right after saying that you've never opened the box and shot it? I have run a LOT of different brands and bows over the years, and I have never made that determination before shooting the bow.
Definitely would take it over the X. For the E35 it's not a full apple to apples comparison with the limb stop and insane letoff capability of the E35. I personally have been shooting the V35 incredibly well.
Hey Nate, how did the tuning go as far as needing to shim the cams? do they have a cam shimming method or do they bank on having everything perfectly aligned for 13/16 center shot every time?
For hunting arrows, I didn't have a problem. For my 2712 and GT22's I needed to slip one shim to the left. No extra parts needed, just right on the axle already. But this isn't uncommon for me. At 31/60 for specs and beefier arrows, I usually have to fuss with my bows in some way or another. With just that one shim movement it now eats anything I throw out of it now problem. Shooting my consistent indoor scores to date this winter with it.
I’m going to be buying a new bow within the next 1-2 weeks. I’m seriously considering buying a Vista 35. The fact that Athens put’s Gas Bowstrings on their bows shows me a lot of solidarity.they the premier string company these days. What spine victory vforce arrow would one of these require at 50 lb draw weight,28 inch draw length,30 inch long arrow,100 grain point ?
For the price tag on this bow, why choose it over the EVL 34? EVL has similar specs and is a little faster. Glad your loving it and thanks as always for the content
I personally like shooting and showing bows from companies that don't get a lot of marketing face! Plus, Athens' cam and bow style is something I prefer. PSE grip is solid, but has never been my favorite, nor the interior yoke gig. I did Hoyt yokes for nearly a decade and I swore never again! Lol.
I like how much the limbs curl around. Very nice, it has elite vibes but is definitely something different. Is Athens Archery owned by any conglomeration or are they privately owned?
I love the bow and I love the fact that a new company's coming up I don't know if I agree with the amount because they're trying to get their foot in the door I think I would come in a little bit lower also what's up with everybody just football punting that trigger
Can you order directly from their website? I have never seen or shot an Athens because there are no dealers anywhere near. I have heard great things about their bows!
How long is the 35 from outside cam to cam? I was guessing like 39” wondering if that’s close. I’m torn between the 33 & 35. Mainly just hunting and some 3D. Hunt from blinds and saddles. I have a 29” draw.
Every archery shop should be willing to work on every bow! Huge disappointment if not. The Athens being so user friendly should only make working on it all that more appealing.
Appreciate the feedback I'm leaning toward the v35 as I'm a 29 inch draw and live in wyoming on only do western style hunts. I have to drive 4 hrs to the closest dealer and test one out
Hey buddy, this is totally off track but I’m looking into a new sight and want to try the ez v sight. Would you recommend this for hunting and 3d archery? It’s primary use is 3d shooting. I’m worried it won’t work up to the long yards like 60-80. What’s your thoughts buddy! Love your channel.
#1 thing is to check regs. I shoot IBO and the EZV is illegal due to its range finding ability. ASA is illegal too. But you're talking 60-80 so I'm guessing TAC style events? Anything goes there. I found past 50 the V really necks down and found it's hard to really focus on target. I'm talking any of the discs slower than 270FPS. For distances that far I personally would prefer a .010 sized pin.
@@averagejackarchery thanks for the reply man, I truly love your videos. I’m in the $200-250 price point looking for a sight and can’t figure out what I want. It’s for 3d, light hunting and weekend league or something! Any ideas?
Now that you have taken a deer 🦌 with your Blue Elite bow it’s time for you to do the same with the green Athens. This must be the bow that you posted a perfect bullet hole picture on your Instagram page. She seems like a sweet shooter. I like how you go for the bow manufacturers that are not as highly publicized like the Pro Bowl rosters of hunters and archers 🏹 that Mathew’s, Hoyt, Prime and PSE have. Oh and don’t think that it’s lost on me that the logo for Athens Archery 🏹 and Average Jack Archery 🏹 have Double As in them. 😎🇺🇸
It all depends on what you're looking for! Every bow company has something that is native to it. Athens offers much more customizable options on the bow, at a significant price advantage, Elite offers the SET technology, etc. You get the idea. All depends on what the shooter wants.
After today's Bowtech's rather disappointing 2022 lineup release I've decided to go w Athens vista 35 for 2022! Did you buy it from a local dealer or ordered online directly from their website?
Their online experience is great! Although if you have a local dealer definitely go through them to support the business. Costs exactly the same. I have no local dealers within nearly a 2 hour drive.
I agree, the Bowtech launch was a complete dud this year. I'm also considering an Athen's but there are no dealers within 400 miles of me....it would be a gamble.
@@raywarner4704 Not much of a gamble considering I haven’t heard a negative word from any reviews or blogs. Several people report a smoother draw cycle than PSE’s Evolve cams. If you’re a smooth draw over speed guy like me, it’s a no brainer. The warranty is is good as it gets too.
Great looking bow, if I wasn't going to go with an Elite I would think hard about one of those. What are your thoughts on brace heights these days? I remember 7 inches use to to be the magic number for a forgiving bows. It seems like now days they are all running around 6. Thanks and congrats on the new bow!
I've always appreciated anything closer to 7 than 6. But today's bows can get away with it better than bows of the past. I think 6.5 is "the new 7" for normalcy and 6 is on the faster end, and 7 being generous.
Lol! Needed to try something new! Neither Athens, or Elite have paid me to use their products, so I'm happy to give another small company the exposure too!
Hey man, congratulations on your new bow! So I have a question, how bad is it to have a 28.5 draw length, but I have a bow that's 29.5 (obsession, so can't change the length unless I get new mods). I just got a UV hinge and I also have a spot hogg whipper snapper, would having hand held releases kinda help me?
Yes. Effectively a lot of the time using a hand held release will cause most folks to lengthen their draw length. No always, but often. You could experience the same results which would help that draw work better.
What Obsession bow do you have ??? I have 27" cams for the Fusion6... If you need cams, you can buy new ones for roughly $160...... If your bow is fairly new - they might take your cams in for $ off
@@averagejackarchery Yes the valley. You'd think that if you shorten the draw length it would also shorten the valley. Just was wondering how much. I have a diamond infinite edge for my wife to grow into as far as poundage. But I don't understand how you can shorten the draw length so much without drastically changing the performance of a cam.
So glad, you received a Vista 35. It's one of the smoothest drawing bows I've shot. The other thing I like is the weight, it allows you to add stabilizers without making the bow too heavy. Can't wait to see how you go with the 35.

With 35 I'm impressed with how quite it is even with the liter arrows! 🤔
ME TOO!
I want to shoot one but the nearest dealer to is about 88 miles away. 🤦♂️ have to make a little trip and promise Household 6 (wife) I won't buy a bow that day. 🤷♂️👾🤦♂️🤦♂️
How does the smoothness of the draw compare to the Bowtech Solution SS? Have you compared the one with the other?
Smoothness is user specific. Unless it's a speed bow and meant to be harsh to get the speed necessary. Both the SS and the Vista bows are incredible on the draw cycle.
@@averagejackarchery Thank you. Great information. Still considering a target bow, but wondering if I really need one with the Solution SS
That’s A BAD ASS BOW JACK -!!!!!!!!!! Thanks again
I just ordered the Peak 38 can't wait to get it
Thanks very much for your review!
Thanks
good looking bow, sounded good too on camera
I quick question why are you not shooting this for hunting
I will be. Hunting season is over. Used it latter part of late archery season here in PA. Right now my full focus is on indoor this winter leading into spring/summer 3D shoots.
@@averagejackarchery thanks for getting back to me
Killed my biggest buck ever with an accomplice 32 back in 2011. Have always been a fan of their bows. Was wondering if I ready the title correctly because I know you are normally an elite guy
Yup! Neither Elite or Athens have ever paid me a dime to use their stuff. Felt like trying something new!
Thanks.
I actually did! But omitted it from the video thinking no one would care. HA! I got 31.5" of riser length.
How far back on the limb are finding the Hamskea likes to be??
Video coming later this week that includes that exact answer!
Just curious... how do you determine that the Athens Vista is "my personal bow for 2022" right after saying that you've never opened the box and shot it? I have run a LOT of different brands and bows over the years, and I have never made that determination before shooting the bow.
Great video! I'm confused about the draw length. If you set it to 30.5 and you lose 1/4 by going to 80% let off shouldn't you be at 30 1/4 not 30 3/4?
When you say it’s meant to shoot lighter arrows, would there be anything wrong with using this bow for heavy arrows? Great video!
Use for any arrow you'd like!!!
How do you find it compares to the victory x or energy 35
What spine victory vforce arrow would one of these require at 50 lb draw weight,28 inch draw length,30 inch long arrow,100 grain point ?
ua-cam.com/video/LeWXPi7xN8U/v-deo.html
Thank you Nate.
That video explains how easy it is to get that info.
That’s one of the reasons why you’re a teacher.
Lol.
@@averagejackarchery awesome man. Best of luck this season and enjoy the new rig!
When you move the draw stops, do you mess with the cam timing?
No, the draw stops have no effect on the timing between 80-90%. They only affect the draw length, holding weight, and valley length.
I like how much the limbs curl around. Very nice, it has elite vibes but is definitely something different. Is Athens Archery owned by any conglomeration or are they privately owned?
Privately owned by Jim and Tracie Klossner in upstate NY. Outstanding people who have a great team working for them.
Real curious what the speed on it is
Coming soon! Chrono just in this week.
Yup! The website experience is quite painless. I deep dove into it myself as there are also no local dealers for me.
How long is the 35 from outside cam to cam? I was guessing like 39” wondering if that’s close. I’m torn between the 33 & 35. Mainly just hunting and some 3D. Hunt from blinds and saddles. I have a 29” draw.
Yes, measured full length at brace is 39".
Will a dealer that is not an Athens dealer take time to work on this bow from Athens? Great review!
Every archery shop should be willing to work on every bow! Huge disappointment if not. The Athens being so user friendly should only make working on it all that more appealing.
I'm having a hard time deciding on the 33 or 35
If you have a 29-31" draw, I personally would go with the V35 as a full crossover style bow.
Appreciate the feedback I'm leaning toward the v35 as I'm a 29 inch draw and live in wyoming on only do western style hunts. I have to drive 4 hrs to the closest dealer and test one out
Jack you have to do a bow build PLEASE I WOULD LIKE THIS ALL HOOKED UP THANKS
Congrats nate. Enjoy your new bow it looks great.
Vista 35 or used elite energy 35 for much less money ?
Either are excellent! Literally can't go wrong with either. Only drawback with energy is the lack of easy draw adjustment.
Do you feel you need to put a new grip on it?
Quite the opposite! It's the exact style of grip I like. Thin, flat backed, and mid-low wrist angle.
The perfect A is at 432HZ based on the visual symatics
I’m not familiar with Athens but it’s a slick looking bow for sure
Does the shop that you work at carry Athens? Thanks!
We do not.
Any ideas?
very pretty bow!
Would you recommend a Athens over an ELITE?
Never heard of Athens before so that’s cool.
Been on a major overhaul with new owners the past few years. Really up and coming bows.
Id still like to shoot the Vista 33, been super happy with my Ridge 34.
No more Elite? What’s next dryshod instead of hisea? Lol nice bow
Lol! Needed to try something new! Neither Athens, or Elite have paid me to use their products, so I'm happy to give another small company the exposure too!
what ever happened to over draws
I’m a ass following the video through you do show it all hooked up it looks real cool man
Hey man, congratulations on your new bow!
If your bow is fairly new - they might take your cams in for $ off
You liked that vista so much you want and got you one huh
Uhhh….do I smell a setup video of this bow in the future?
Saturday.....
@@averagejackarchery Woot woot! I love those kinds of videos, what can I say?
Do adjustable string stops change the length of the back wall? The cam can't change. Only how far you pull the cam to its back wall changes.
The length of the back wall? You mean the length of the valley? Yes, the lower the letoff, the shorter the valley.
Why do you keep editing video during shot process. Target panic ?
Nope. Just editing the time out of me just sitting there at full draw.
You going to sell all your Elites now?
Nope! They'll still be in the shop. :)
Isn't the person who owns Athens used to be the Elite VP?
@@doncaruso1949 One of the founders, yes!
Why Athens over elite
