I’m not big into them but do watch a few from friendly supporters. I agree though as I really don’t get much out of them! There way too short😜! I absolutely am in ❤ with your Herby recreation! Not a problem at all Robby! I actually had a really great time coloring that! It has been a while since I have taken the time to do something like that. It was a nice and simple thing to pass some time while feeling not so great! I may toss out a short or two from time to time if I have a cool clip that will stand on its own. I think the majority of the responses is folks are not watching but very few if any so I am going to concentrate on being the same old me I have been and so far that has been working! My "shorts" are the 5 minute videos lol!!! I have wanted to do a Herbie bug for a while and loved the race and chase scenes from the movies so I felt like the race run look was fitting! Good luck with the new job Addam 👍 beetle looks spot on 👌 as for shorts.. I don't watch many, but I'd probably watch yours. Would be a good way to promote the channel and tease us to tune in and watch the next one. I think they are aimed at the younger generation and work well for the latest and greatest rc cars, biggest jumps and stunts etc. It could work well for track video outtakes and some of the custom stuff you do.. possibly modelling tips n tricks and stuff , as you're skills and imagination are better than most.

Shorts are good as long as they have useful content. For example, Gavin at RCKicks puts out shorts highlighting some tips for all different RC building topics. Those I enjoy. Also, watching people crash their Lunchboxes at high speeds is also very entertaining. 👍👍
Yeah, that is what I am thinking if I do any it will be something that can be useful or funny and stand on its own. The one of someone crashing a small truck into a big truck was kind of funny!

Thank you, I am back to normal (well my normal at least) now! I have wanted to do a Herbie for a while but also wanted the box art for the cars so having the box art ones for display and this for running is great! I will have a stand alone video on the Herbie soon I hope.
Glad you are feeling better, in my opinion the biggest upside shorts have would be to get people into the hobby of rc maybe people scrolling through and it triggers a childhood memory or gets someone younger excited about rc and wanting to pick it up so maybe it could help grow the community

The majority of folks that responded don't watch many shorts if any so I will only do them for quick things that can stand on their own but otherwise will keep rambling on and my "shorts" will be the 5 minute videos!! LOL!! I will have a quick video on the Herbie body soon, I tried to do it in a way that any wear and tear will just enhance the look of it!

It will get more damage over time from running so it will just enhance it (I hope!) I am finally feeling better. Still not 100% but much better. It was a lot of ups and downs which made it feel like I was sick much longer but thankfully the antibiotics evicted whatever decided to take up residence in me!

Hi Addam, the Beetle looks great. Might have to give that a go myself. Not keen on the shorts, with the exception of one or two I choose to skip most of them. I don't get much out of them. I find some of them entertaining but generally speaking they're not usually very informative and mostly consist of relatively insignificant aspects of the hobby for me. I'm sure there's quite an audience out there for them. Other platforms have done well out of shorts. I'd sooner watch a longer video. Keep the longer videos coming. ATB Darren 👍

I do watch shorts that come up on my feed. I think they are a gimmick, I don't see the point but I still watch them if I'm interested in what they show!

Sorry to hear you were sick that's where the bronco summit came from I had 3 weeks in isolation one day feel fine next asleep all day again , I'm not into the shorts I prefer to watch the long form content I only do shorts occasionally to try and attract more subs but there only looking for short form content so it's not worth it I think as for the job congrats bro I wouldn't stress about if you can't keep your normal routine with the change of seasons coming I'm in the same boat content will go back to random again I work full time and run two side businesses one I supply firewood for a lot of people through the winter so I won't have time to make content no matter when you upload I'll still be tuning in bro 👊

@@AddamsPlayground glad your feeling better older we get harder recovery is ....exactly right about shorts if you have a great moment you can highlight it it will get you more subs and attention but if they aren't there for the long form stuff I actually found it damaging to watch time in analytics pushed my average veiw time way down

You did an excellent job on the Herbie body. I like the subtle aging method. Congratulations and good luck with your new job. I am not sure what a "short" is. The videos where people are running and jumping their cars doesn't hold a lot of interest for me. When I see one I tend stop it and move on or fast forward through it. If you introduce a project that you are working on and do short showing the progress or a problem you have with a build might be good. A short showing the progress of doing the Herbie paint job might be good. Do what makes you happy. There are enough things in life that we have to do.
Thanks Michael! I had fun with the Herbie and wanted it to look raced but not overly dirty. It will get it's own wear and tear over time from running it so it will just enhance it! Shorts are all videos under a minute long and a lot of them are just action videos with music or other little quick blast videos. A break from the channel never hurts! I have literally nothing to film so I'm uploading vids to my tech channel. The Herbie Beetle body is amazing looking! I want to do a punisher one. I think I'm going to try. I also need to find some white wheels. I may have to steal the acroshot wheels like you said. UA-cam shorts are only beneficial to gaining subscribers. I have made a couple for that reason. I usually get 1-2k views and pick up 10 subs. You can't make money from them either unless you get millions of views. I almost never watch Shorts unless it's vids of Claire Gernheinstein modeling bikinis :)
Ohhhh a punisher themed build sounds awesome! Do you have a vinyl cutter or access to one? That would be a great way to quickly make some paint masks for it! Hey Addam... Shorts.. I have done a few but to be honest I dont really watch them. I prefer 'proper' content. You need to do what is right for you regarding the new job/content thing. Do what you can do, when you can do it. No point in pushing yourself so it feels like a chore.. Really need to pull my finger out and get a design done for Riviera RC then get some done for my channel too. Glad you are feeling better, i am currently nusring a large abcess under a tooth and am on antibiotics.. LOVELY 🤣

Thank you! I am looking forward to the new gig and learning some new stuff! Overall the response has been that most of the viewers of my channel don't typically watch them or like them. I may from time to time put one out if there is a clip or something that is really funny or cool. The one I did of the lunchbox crashing into my truck did well but it really skewed my stats so it made it hard to track what my regular videos and growth was doing. I have been paying less attention to that stuff overall so it may not bother me much now. It is the new fad and they are trying to keep up with tiktok and Instagram, I just hope it doesn't turn into a mess and people start moving away from doing regular videos. we will see what happens!

Shorts won't make you a lot of money, but they'll drive traffic to your channel. Progress updates won't work because they may not be too interesting to the external audience. Remember, the point of the shorts is to grow your channel. As you do your editing, you may take a clip of a few seconds of every video you post that you find funny or interesting and post it as a short

Hey, remember when I told you I just won that ebay auction for the off road tiger?! Yah....the sell never sent it. lol Still trying to get my refund. If you see a seller with 2 off road tigers and 3 controllers, plus the box, don't buy it! He didn't respond to any messeges either. Had some bad luck with ebay lately. Bought something else and it was said to be delivered on Wednesday and my mailbox is emtpy. GEEEEZ! Might stay away from ebay for a while.
Man, that is a real bummer. I have had the tracking say it was delivered but it had not been yet, sometimes they hit the wrong button I think. I hope that it shows up and you don't have to deal with all that mess too! I have been lucky and have not had that happen. I did have one guy cancel the sale because it sold so low but I got refunded right away. I have not had to deal with deadbeats not delivering what I bought. I always use PayPal and make sure.wverything is on the up and up on my end so if it does happen I get my money back! Sorry you have to deal with all that garbage. Too many shady people trying to make a quick buck for nothing!
Very cool update and Herby. Good to hear you're feeling better. Shorts are okay to watch, if you're subbed to many channels. But I only give thumbs up and do no commenting. Comments mostly take more time than the short and (unfortunately) most contend is repeating, which I had seen before in the long videos of the creators. For myself I tested shorts. You get more views, that's okay. But also your thumb rating goes down. Because the shorts are shown to a wider audience. And it might be not interested in RC cars and gives a thumb down. Always thinking of teens just want to be entertained in the bus on their way to school... Now I only use shorts for announcing special video, some kind of teaser for my subs and the pitential ones.

I'm with you on the shorts - I don't really like them. It looks like UA-cam is trying to be Instagram, which is annoying because Instagram is already Instagram and does it better. The arbitrary insistence on portrait format is annoying too - UA-cam is very much landscape. Plus you can't filter out shorts, so now my subs list just clogs up with ugly, blurry piles of clips I generally can't be bothered to watch because the loading and ads will probably last longer than the video. Like you I've been talked into making a few shorts just because YT is so insistent, but I'm seriously not a fan. Hopefully YT doesn't now degenerate into a barely watchable landslide of filmed-up-the-nose 'hey wow guys' idiots and bad accidents all trying to go viral for 15 seconds... on a more cheerful note, congrats on the new job! 👍

Thanks for the feedback and I think from the comments I have gotten is most folks watching the channel are not really paying attention to the shorts too much if at all. Thanks for the feedback and the well wishes, it is a good move and I think it will be a good long term one!
My little micro channel get 20x the views with shorts where my normal videos get next to none so for me i like the shorts for my channel but id rather watch full videos from my subs.
I think the general response so far is that most are not watching them except for here and there so my efforts will probably mimic that and do them here and there when I come across something that is worthy of standing on its own in a short. I will still do the rambling old me videos and consider my 5 minute videos my shorts!

I like watching shorts but not for your channel I love the long videos they're very interesting Why did you change jobs I think you should have taken Herbie outside drove it around in the dirt and then put a clear coat over the dirt not sure exactly if that would work or not
I am not a fan of shorts still, I still prefer the longer videos. As a creator they also skew the numbers on my videos so views and stuff don't match the video performance. I changed jobs as the company I worked for had massive layoffs and I guess I was a bit outspoken on my dislike for the decisions they were making and changes being put in place. It is funny though as they are still lost in the woods trying to figure out what to do to fix everything now that they screwed everything up so badly from all the changes. They removed 80% of the experience workers they had and replaced them with "new and innovative" people and they are screwing things up constantly and have no idea how to fix any of the existing platforms! I enjoy hearing from the few that are left how far in the toilet it all is! I feel bad for them for having to deal with it but love hearing the company is still a mess and they are running around wit their head in the rear! Real dirt would work but strictly for a body that would never get run. It would be much more prone to flaking, cracking and peeling.

@@nomusicrc I worked for GEICO for almost 12 years and most of that was in their IT department. The insurance part is still pretty solid but the leadership and the IT is a freaking joke. They have thoughts of grandeur of being a tech company and are both slowly wrecking the insurance company they are and failing well at becoming a tech company!

1. Weathering is so fun, isn't it? My favorite bodies always end up being the ones I weathered. 2. Shorts are absolute garbage, it's just UA-cam trying to compete with tiktok. I'm probably in the wrong age group for them, but I have no interest at all.
I am having a ton of fun with the weathering and trying new things! I am hoping that once it gets more wear and tear it will just enhance it! I think the overall response from everyone here was not many watch them and if they do it is very little so I am going to keep doing what I do and hope that it keeps going well! I am having fun with it!

to me, youtube shorts just doesn't fit in with youtube as a whole. tik tok already has a MASSIVE community fully dedicated in creating shorter videos much better than what i see on youtube shorts. i go to youtube for content that goes fully in-depth about various topics, but i can see youtube shorts used for like clips of rc driving vids.

Yeah I am not sure why the giant push to turn UA-cam into a wasteland of tweens and teens being all "ohmegursh.. lookit dis" but I think I will stick to my same old rambling self and I may post one here and there if it is good enough to stand on its own. It seems like the general response is nobody is really watching them so it doesn't seem like it is worth the effort.
Shorts are okay but they are far from quality content. Just my two cents but I feel like your current stuff is a bit more personal and directed for your audience. The flip side is that you’ll most likely get more exposure with the shorts that could lead more traffic to your channel.

I will continue hanging out with you all and rambling on as normal. I will post shorts when I run across something worthy and can stand on its own but will just continue trying to get the regular videos out as often as I can and keep doing what I know!

Yeha I am not a fan of the shorts for the most part, I watch some on occasion. I think I am gonna focus on what I have been doing and not worry with them as most have said they don't watch them!

I think the general response from everyone is that most don't care about or watch ay of the shorts so unless I have something perfectly stand alone for one I doubt I worry with them at all! I have wanted to do a Herbie bug for a while and it was a nice break while I was feeling a bit better one of the days of ups and downs. I am feeling pretty much back to normal so all is well and will be back in the garage tinkering and recording!

Good luck with the new job Addam 👍 beetle looks spot on 👌 as for shorts.. I don't watch many, but I'd probably watch yours. Would be a good way to promote the channel and tease us to tune in and watch the next one. I think they are aimed at the younger generation and work well for the latest and greatest rc cars, biggest jumps and stunts etc. It could work well for track video outtakes and some of the custom stuff you do.. possibly modelling tips n tricks and stuff , as you're skills and imagination are better than most.

Shorts are good as long as they have useful content. For example, Gavin at RCKicks puts out shorts highlighting some tips for all different RC building topics. Those I enjoy. Also, watching people crash their Lunchboxes at high speeds is also very entertaining. 👍👍
Yeah, that is what I am thinking if I do any it will be something that can be useful or funny and stand on its own. The one of someone crashing a small truck into a big truck was kind of funny!

Glad you are feeling better, in my opinion the biggest upside shorts have would be to get people into the hobby of rc maybe people scrolling through and it triggers a childhood memory or gets someone younger excited about rc and wanting to pick it up so maybe it could help grow the community

I am finally feeling better. Still not 100% but much better. It was a lot of ups and downs which made it feel like I was sick much longer but thankfully the antibiotics evicted whatever decided to take up residence in me!

Hi Addam, the Beetle looks great. Might have to give that a go myself. Not keen on the shorts, with the exception of one or two I choose to skip most of them. I don't get much out of them. I find some of them entertaining but generally speaking they're not usually very informative and mostly consist of relatively insignificant aspects of the hobby for me. I'm sure there's quite an audience out there for them. Other platforms have done well out of shorts. I'd sooner watch a longer video. Keep the longer videos coming. ATB Darren 👍

Thanks Steve! I have wanted to do a Herbie for a while and I love it! I think the overall response is nobody watching my videos cares about shorts really! If I have something that will work perfectly for one then I will do one but otherwise it'll be me rambling on from behind the bench as usual! I agree they need to split them into a different feed as it is pain to find the videos I want to watch through all the shorts!
Sorry to hear you were sick that's where the bronco summit came from I had 3 weeks in isolation one day feel fine next asleep all day again , I'm not into the shorts I prefer to watch the long form content I only do shorts occasionally to try and attract more subs but there only looking for short form content so it's not worth it I think as for the job congrats bro I wouldn't stress about if you can't keep your normal routine with the change of seasons coming I'm in the same boat content will go back to random again I work full time and run two side businesses one I supply firewood for a lot of people through the winter so I won't have time to make content no matter when you upload I'll still be tuning in bro 👊

It seems from the comments that most folks don't really watch the shorts so I may do some from time to time if I have a very funny or cool thing that can stand alone, otherwise I am not going to worry about them!

@@AddamsPlayground glad your feeling better older we get harder recovery is ....exactly right about shorts if you have a great moment you can highlight it it will get you more subs and attention but if they aren't there for the long form stuff I actually found it damaging to watch time in analytics pushed my average veiw time way down

You did an excellent job on the Herbie body. I like the subtle aging method. Congratulations and good luck with your new job. I am not sure what a "short" is. The videos where people are running and jumping their cars doesn't hold a lot of interest for me. When I see one I tend stop it and move on or fast forward through it. If you introduce a project that you are working on and do short showing the progress or a problem you have with a build might be good. A short showing the progress of doing the Herbie paint job might be good. Do what makes you happy. There are enough things in life that we have to do.
Thanks Michael! I had fun with the Herbie and wanted it to look raced but not overly dirty. It will get it's own wear and tear over time from running it so it will just enhance it! Shorts are all videos under a minute long and a lot of them are just action videos with music or other little quick blast videos. From what I heard from almost everyone else they don't watch many if any so I will be sticking with what I normally do! I am looking forward to the new job and it will be a great new adventure! A break from the channel never hurts! I have literally nothing to film so I'm uploading vids to my tech channel. The Herbie Beetle body is amazing looking! I want to do a punisher one. I think I'm going to try. I also need to find some white wheels. I may have to steal the acroshot wheels like you said. UA-cam shorts are only beneficial to gaining subscribers. I have made a couple for that reason. I usually get 1-2k views and pick up 10 subs. You can't make money from them either unless you get millions of views. I almost never watch Shorts unless it's vids of Claire Gernheinstein modeling bikinis :)
Ohhhh a punisher themed build sounds awesome! Do you have a vinyl cutter or access to one? That would be a great way to quickly make some paint masks for it! I quickly scanned through the comments and it seems like 98% don't watch the shorts so it seems like that it may gain a few subscribers but overall most of the folks watching don't watch them. I may make one or two from time to time if I have some really funny or cool clip but otherwise will probably skip it and keep doing my thing!

I watch most of your as they are updates and stuff. A quick scan through the comments it seem the vast majority don't watch them so I am not sure I am gonna mess with it. Unless I have a really funny stand alone clip or some I probably won't bother any more than I have with the one I have done!

You need to do what is right for you regarding the new job/content thing. Do what you can do, when you can do it. No point in pushing yourself so it feels like a chore..

Overall the response has been that most of the viewers of my channel don't typically watch them or like them. I may from time to time put one out if there is a clip or something that is really funny or cool. The one I did of the lunchbox crashing into my truck did well but it really skewed my stats so it made it hard to track what my regular videos and growth was doing. I have been paying less attention to that stuff overall so it may not bother me much now. It is the new fad and they are trying to keep up with tiktok and Instagram, I just hope it doesn't turn into a mess and people start moving away from doing regular videos. we will see what happens!

Shorts won't make you a lot of money, but they'll drive traffic to your channel. Progress updates won't work because they may not be too interesting to the external audience. Remember, the point of the shorts is to grow your channel. As you do your editing, you may take a clip of a few seconds of every video you post that you find funny or interesting and post it as a short

Hey, remember when I told you I just won that ebay auction for the off road tiger?! Yah....the sell never sent it. lol Still trying to get my refund. If you see a seller with 2 off road tigers and 3 controllers, plus the box, don't buy it! He didn't respond to any messeges either. Had some bad luck with ebay lately. Bought something else and it was said to be delivered on Wednesday and my mailbox is emtpy. GEEEEZ! Might stay away from ebay for a while.
Man, that is a real bummer. I have had the tracking say it was delivered but it had not been yet, sometimes they hit the wrong button I think. I hope that it shows up and you don't have to deal with all that mess too! I have been lucky and have not had that happen. I did have one guy cancel the sale because it sold so low but I got refunded right away. I have not had to deal with deadbeats not delivering what I bought. I always use PayPal and make sure.wverything is on the up and up on my end so if it does happen I get my money back! Sorry you have to deal with all that garbage. Too many shady people trying to make a quick buck for nothing!

Shorts are okay to watch, if you're subbed to many channels. But I only give thumbs up and do no commenting. Comments mostly take more time than the short and (unfortunately) most contend is repeating, which I had seen before in the long videos of the creators.
For myself I tested shorts. You get more views, that's okay. But also your thumb rating goes down. Because the shorts are shown to a wider audience. And it might be not interested in RC cars and gives a thumb down. Always thinking of teens just want to be entertained in the bus on their way to school...
Now I only use shorts for announcing special video, some kind of teaser for my subs and the pitential ones.

I'm with you on the shorts - I don't really like them. It looks like UA-cam is trying to be Instagram, which is annoying because Instagram is already Instagram and does it better. The arbitrary insistence on portrait format is annoying too - UA-cam is very much landscape. Plus you can't filter out shorts, so now my subs list just clogs up with ugly, blurry piles of clips I generally can't be bothered to watch because the loading and ads will probably last longer than the video. Like you I've been talked into making a few shorts just because YT is so insistent, but I'm seriously not a fan. Hopefully YT doesn't now degenerate into a barely watchable landslide of filmed-up-the-nose 'hey wow guys' idiots and bad accidents all trying to go viral for 15 seconds... on a more cheerful note, congrats on the new job! 👍

My little micro channel get 20x the views with shorts where my normal videos get next to none so for me i like the shorts for my channel but id rather watch full videos from my subs.
I think the general response so far is that most are not watching them except for here and there so my efforts will probably mimic that and do them here and there when I come across something that is worthy of standing on its own in a short. I will still do the rambling old me videos and consider my 5 minute videos my shorts!

I think you should have taken Herbie outside drove it around in the dirt and then put a clear coat over the dirt not sure exactly if that would work or not
I am not a fan of shorts still, I still prefer the longer videos. As a creator they also skew the numbers on my videos so views and stuff don't match the video performance.
I changed jobs as the company I worked for had massive layoffs and I guess I was a bit outspoken on my dislike for the decisions they were making and changes being put in place. It is funny though as they are still lost in the woods trying to figure out what to do to fix everything now that they screwed everything up so badly from all the changes. They removed 80% of the experience workers they had and replaced them with "new and innovative" people and they are screwing things up constantly and have no idea how to fix any of the existing platforms! I enjoy hearing from the few that are left how far in the toilet it all is! I feel bad for them for having to deal with it but love hearing the company is still a mess and they are running around wit their head in the rear!
Real dirt would work but strictly for a body that would never get run. It would be much more prone to flaking, cracking and peeling.

@@nomusicrc I worked for GEICO for almost 12 years and most of that was in their IT department. The insurance part is still pretty solid but the leadership and the IT is a freaking joke. They have thoughts of grandeur of being a tech company and are both slowly wrecking the insurance company they are and failing well at becoming a tech company!

1. Weathering is so fun, isn't it? My favorite bodies always end up being the ones I weathered.
2. Shorts are absolute garbage, it's just UA-cam trying to compete with tiktok. I'm probably in the wrong age group for them, but I have no interest at all.

to me, youtube shorts just doesn't fit in with youtube as a whole. tik tok already has a MASSIVE community fully dedicated in creating shorter videos much better than what i see on youtube shorts. i go to youtube for content that goes fully in-depth about various topics, but i can see youtube shorts used for like clips of rc driving vids.

Shorts are okay but they are far from quality content. Just my two cents but I feel like your current stuff is a bit more personal and directed for your audience. The flip side is that you’ll most likely get more exposure with the shorts that could lead more traffic to your channel.

I have wanted to do a Herbie bug for a while and it was a nice break while I was feeling a bit better one of the days of ups and downs. I am feeling pretty much back to normal so all is well and will be back in the garage tinkering and recording!
