- There's a lot of great metroidvania's coming out recently, and I decided to try one of them out called Biomorph. This game has an enemy possession mechanic, along with some real unique character and world design. Hope you enjoy my playthrough!

Yes and no, that *is* a bad ending, but it's not *the* bad ending, both of the options have negative repercussions. There's a true ending that's basically the good ending

@@LimboLocalFunniProvider i mean... they've been your hands, which is pretty helpful. every attack uses your hands, so they've been fighting for you all game. also moral support IS helpful
@@T-5seconds you don't use them to attack, skurry didn't have them in the final boss and all of his moves kept working the same way like nothing changed
@@LimboLocalFunniProvider you absolutely do use them to attack. you get a new, non-sentient pair of hands when they leave you, but just because the first hands were replaced doesn't mean they didn't do anything

Sometimes i see games on steam and i just think "Skurry would play this". Then they end up becoming videos. This happened for this game and Pseudoregalia so I'm on a pretty good streak lately

After Super Mario Odyssey, I'm surprised more games haven't tried to capitalize on the whole "player can posses enemies" concept. At least it makes this game stand out.

This game looks cool but the biomorph mechanic is just used for platforming, the only boss skurry used a biomorph for was the first one
Watching the streams was actually kind of frustrating because Skurry kept trying to deliberately see how much of the game they could complete without the morphing on their first playthrough, and then one of the complaints was that it never quite reached the best it could have been (and I suspect it was partially because they never used the central mechanic...)
@@Physbrkr I don't get that feeling. From what I saw in this video, it seems to me that the different things you can morph into each just have a specific use: the thing they were designed for in that one zone (appearing platforms, breaking objects, etc). Outside of their use case, they don't seem useful at all (combat), which is what I think Skurry was talking about.
@captainalieth see, I wouldn't know if that's actually true or not, because Skurry rarely (if ever) actually showed an interest in using the transformation mechanic in the vods of this playthrough, and often went out of their way to not use it in favor of trying to see if the game could be beaten without it. There were so many sections where Skurry was like "I see what they want me to do, can I skip this? Can I skip the transformations?", and then would immediately untransform the second it was no longer required.
It felt a bit like watching someone play Mega Man, for example, and then deliberately avoid using the weapon powers, then complaining the weapon powers were not implemented well or were pointless. Like, yeah, I'm sure it would feel that way if you never used them lmao.
Quite a few of the transformations actually did seem fairly useful for combat, but even discounting that, it was just weird to see someone go out of their way to avoid a core mechanic, then decide that core mechanic wasn't useful or as cool as it could have been after spending the entire game avoiding it. Like, maybe that's true- but how would you know if you never seriously engaged and experimented with it?
@@Physbrkr I only ever played the extended demo myself, but I think the point they're making is that the game might be more fun for more people if the central mechanic were harder to avoid. If transformations are only required for temporary platforming moments, it's understandable that their potential would feel a bit wasted. My experience in the demo was that a good chunk of the enemies also felt more awkward to control than the base character, so it didn't feel rewarding to use them much more than I had to. But I do think the burden of getting players to "play the right way" so to speak is one that the game and the player share, not a burden that belongs to just one of them.

I can't be the only one who's lowkey kinda annoyed whenever there's capture mechanics or transformations. Like, they're cool and all, but they always seem to break the flow of movement when I just wanna do cool stuff with the main kit. It's gotten a bit better with Mario Odyssey and the like, but back in Mario Galaxy, I never wanted to actually get the transformations because they just completely removed all of the fun movement options that flowed together really well.
