note from my side. I think Miku is singing inochi so the lyrics should be 生命 => just 命
@@cocojambo2000 I took the lyrics from lolproject's Bandcamp. Grammatically speaking, yes, that is the correct reading. I have never asked this question to Japanese lyricists, but it's not the first time I see someone writing something and then pronouncing it differently.
I assume this is mostly done to enhance the meaning of a word. In this example, 生命 is a more biological term used to describe a form of life. 命 on the other hand also has a soul. Do babies in the womb already have a soul? A philosophical question I have never pondered over until today. Regardless of the answer to that question, I see an added value in it. It's not just a body that is growing in there, it is a life with a soul. I hope that makes sense =)
