Even though I am a physician and studied child development, as a new mother I needed to hear just keep baby alive for first 3 months!! It is true. Eating and sleeping is how their brain is growing 😂 plus snuggling and looking at them

Yep 🤣 my son will be 3 months in a few days and already does so much stuff just from normal socialization from our daily routine. I'm now getting to where we need to find toys and stuff for him to play with since he's more bored now!

I am a new father, baby is a few days old. I love her so much :)... I'm a Nurse/ NP student so a lot of what keeps going through my head is her development as she grows. I will be taking your advice to hope to have more active learning, like your daughter to want to learn or have fun without electronics being the forefront.

I follow the montissori method with my 9 month old and you would be surprised by the things that young baby's can do. My son has thrived with my chosen methods of parenting (momma ain't always doing so well tho). We aren't able to follow the montessori method completely because of our living arrangements and funds. If anyone is looking for some fantastic montessori education search up hapa family on UA-cam. I think that their family is great and I take alot of inspiration from them.

I love this! Thank you for the tips. I'd like to share something that's worked for me. I was given golden advice from a family member and that was to not give my baby to drink water from a sippy cup, allow them to drink from an open cup. I found a happy medium, it's one of those specially designed cups that don't spill but allow the baby to drink as if from an adult cup, although I usually unscrew the contraption and leave it as a normal cup. It's great, my boy is 8 months now and drinks like us, no choking on water, a little dribble now and then. He also enjoys holding the cup and moving it up to bring the water to his mouth, of course I still have to hold it for him. This means I don't have to transition him to a cup when he's older. One less thing to worry about

A suggestion I heard is that if you do get tons of battery powered toys as gifts and you don't want them to go to waste, or you want to make a transition to this style of learning with toys you already have, just take those batteries out. Voila! 😊

As a daycare worker, yes yes yes always involve the kids in daily chores like dishes! It's something new and special for them, while also teaching them responsibility (depending on their age, of course). Plus, you can always make it special by choosing only one child to help you with the job, so it'll make the others want to do it more (if they're similar in age). Love your advice!

I don’t have kids but I work with children for a living but I also work with families who do not always put their child’s education first. This video is so encouraging for me. I love it. You are doing a great job! Babies have to explore to learn!!! And you’re so right, you don’t have to spend tons on baby toys. Quality not quantity!

Why do some cultures (most notably Arab, American and Japanese) breastfeed their daughters longer than sons? I read somewhere that some moms will nurse their daughter's longer so that they will grow up more pretty /cute etc. Granted my cousin sister was breastfed for nearly 4 years and her facial features are so angelic. Obviously these American, Japanese and Arab mothers must be on to something as they probably want their little girls to grow up into cherubic, small nosed hollywood actresses, belly dancers and cosplay models respectively!

Wow, thank you so much for this validing video, Jessica. My first baby is 16 days old, and I've been the one watching those Grow Your Baby's Brain 0-3 months videos, freaking myself out because I don't have any freaking toys or stimulating objects yet. I bought a black and white book and he loves it, but that's it. I've cried so many times already and it's also just so isolating right now with what's going on~ but thank you for this video, you're great.

  • @suffocationification

Hello Jess! I love your videos and as a new mum myself I find them very interesting! However, this time I really have the urge to wbite this comment: pulling up the babies by the hands ad arms, to make them sit or stand when they're not doing it yet by themselves can be really dangerous for their core and spine, since the muscles are not ready and strong enough to support them! This is something, that a lot of people don't know yet, and even pediatricians don't say it to the new parents, but the are many studies on that and physiotherapists are always stressing that it may cause serious problems with spine and posture of the child in the future. There are many other exercices that are helping with strenghtening the core muscles, but I always recommend to contact a physiotherapist on this matter.
    All the best!

Love this! Thank you! Baby girl is 7mo and I love watching her play. My husband will some times let her watch tv with him if he’s watching her while I’m gone and I want to focus more on focused entertainment instead of passive like you mentioned. We have only 2 battery powered toys and some times I feel bad about that but now I feel better.

I went to college for Early Childhood Education, and student taught at a Montessori school and absolutely loved it! The kids were so cute and smart and I loved that they would clean up after themselves and learn how to do things like sweeping, pouring their water ect. I feel like it sets them up for "real" life made fun; instead of always saying they are bored when they get older...I guess we'll see if I can instill these things in my own child when it arrives lol.

You cannot make your child smarter’ - Your child’s intelligence has been predetermined by your genes. I think the term you’re looking for is how to ‘educate’ your child.
