    lol 91 octane what am I a peasant? I'll have you know that if I burn to death it will be in 93 Octane.

      is 100 octane fuel aavailable in U.S. or Canada?

    • @octavian3287
      @octavian3287 8 років тому +2

      Shell only goes up to 91 and they are arguably better than PetroCanada's 94 Octane and especially Esso's 93. Shell is the only one that guarantees 0% ethanol in the 91. So that's why it will most likely be 91.

    • @legoas159
      @legoas159 8 років тому

      Well im not 100 % sure, but the best in Czech Rep. should be OMV with its 100 octane, i thought other countries might have even higher octane fuels available at least something good in EU :D

      Claudio Isajsky Actually I'm sure those ratings are just because of different grading regulations in the EU and North America, apparently there isn't any real difference although I may be wrong..

    Aaaah a young(er) Thomas. I've just watched your most recent upload with James on your new truck purchase and wanted to see where it all started. Turns out, you're just a little greyer now. Hope we can all look back in another 5 years

    I’ve been watching Throttle House for a few years now, love your channel! I just found this video, I started with the same car as my first track car! After basic motor maintenance, my first step was updating all suspension linkage and bushings to make sure the steering and drivetrain were safe. That took some time but it resulted in a beautiful handling car. UUC flywheel with the M5 clutch plate was a brilliant mod for me too. Hope to see you at the track some day, Infinite Motorsports has some great events at Mosport 👍🏻

    You can put lowering springs such with a minimal drop (around 1-1.5 inches) like an Eibach Pro Kit on stock shocks.
    However, if you put springs such as H&R Race on stock shocks, your stock shocks will blow quickly.

    • @alexherceg9496
      @alexherceg9496 2 роки тому

      Interesting. I bought a car that had H+R springs that lowered it about 2cm. It’s a Porsche 987 and I haven’t had any issues with the shocks giving out even after 10 years

    Amen brother! Worst you can do on track is using those cheap tuning rims with cheap tires.
    Regarding tour choice, if that is your only car then i agree if its dedicated track car i would go for semi slicks, strip down the interior, add racing wheel and seats + 4 point harness seems a little but it makes a huge difference !
    1. You can add lowering springs and i would do it as now it rolls like a bitch(sorry) :( best you can buy are Eibach progressive springs they will add much more control but comfort as well! Do some research on them , had them in my track day type r and they were awesome.
    2. After you are done with the current set of tires go for Toyo 888
    3. After you are done with the current brakes go for Ebc high carbon slotted discs and Ferodo(yellow stuff)pads
    4. Steering wheel, seat, harness

      No complaints so far. Good grip and predictable. I find the tread edge is not super durable so we will see how they do with a few more track days.

    you can put lowering springs on stock shock. I am driving my car from years with lowering springs on stock shocks-no problems. MAybe it can make the shocks to wear out a bit quicker, but if you don't go too agressively lets say with -60mm shocks will last longer let's say with a propper set of -40mm

    I know that this isnt proper place to talk about this topic, but what would be your choice T.H. Would you reather e36 328i coupe (in good shape) with like 5k u.s. dollars to spend on mods or e46 330ci (ofcourse in good shape and properly maintained) with no mods at least not the expensive mods for a while. (gas milleage isnt the issue here i allready have A6 2.8i which eats a lot when u hoon it a little)
    Btw. i liked ur vids. hope for more soon. (y) Keep it up.

      I want it as my daily for now and im afraid that the e36 might end up costing way too much to maintain as my old audi a6. It sits in repair shop every single month.

    • @thumpertorque_
      @thumpertorque_ 8 років тому +1

      +Claudio Isajsky I was in the same boat and finally decided to go with the 330ci. Plenty of power and much nicer for a daily driver.

    nice vid, man! i've been watching your video from where your e46 started to show up..
    if i'm not mistaken you mentioned before that your e46 is a ZHP package? i thought ZHP has mtech II front and rear bumper, and black headliner as well.. isn't it?

    • @ThrottleHouse
      @ThrottleHouse  8 років тому

      You are correct! I mentioned that I have the zsp package which is the sport package, not the zhp. If i accidentally said zhp let me know where I said it so I can make a note for viewers.

      If i remember it correctly, you said that on your comparison between e46 and brz and your review video about hotchkis sway bar..

    Is buying a BMW a good decision for first rime track car?

    • @nicolaandria522
      @nicolaandria522 4 роки тому

      Very late reply, sorry... and my questionable answer is: it depends on your level of experience;
      I have a modified e46 325ci as a road legal track toy: braided brake lines, not too hard coil-overs, interiors completely stripped, shorter differential (3.38 from a scrapped 330 auto), chip tune, stock brakes with good pads, fogged air box, some of the mods were made by the previous owner and some by me;
      I made a speculative offer on eBay and I found myself driving with a friend to Bristol to pick it up...
      it is easy to drive, forgiving and it corners well even with normal road tyres but it lacks power compared with the "serious" track cars, or should I say that the power to weight ratio is not favourable (around 1350 kg after the strip and around 200 hp after the tuning and mods), every track day I pray for rain, a lot of rain  the real track cars, especially the kit cars, Caterham etc.. generally can’t use their advantage anymore and I can have some fun (have a look at my videos on You Tube if you want).
      I would say that it will be nice to start and you will quickly develop an appetite for something more performant.
