- I remove the wrinkled vinyl wrap and redo it, get the rear bed area finished and looking awesome, and do a deep cleaning on the interior.

I threw on a Toyota 3K carb with a manual choke. All problems gone. So glad I did.
I prob would have done that already if it ran bad when I bought it. Maybe my memory is bad and now I'm fixating on the idle but I thought it was smoother when I bought the Samurai. It still runs good and has alot more power than my friends dad's '87, I'm just not sure what changed. I started tinkering with mixture, timing, valve lash, plugs etc when I was trying to get it to pass emissions. It 100% acts like it has a small vacuum leak but I have yet to find it. I currently have a Weber 32/36 on it. Do you happen to know if the adapter plates I already have would work if I decided to buy a 3K and swap it out? I don't know if I'm finding fake ones online or what but they all seem to cost only around $60. Does that sound right for a 3k carb. Seems way too cheap. Thank you.
@@FixLife119 I do not think they come with the adapter plates or Hardware. certified machine comes with all the hardware and has taken all the guesswork out. It is a plug and play.
Toyota 3K carb swap is your best bet, get one (and a kit ) from certified machine, super easy, bolt-on, runs great
How much are those? I'm not 100% sure my erratic cold idle is the carb. When I bought it at the end of January it ran good, still does run good once it's warmed up, just the idle is erratic. Seems so much like a vacuum leak but I've checked and checked.

Try to change the headlamps into led one and front grill it will enhance the look
I have an episode where my friend brought his dad's Samurai over. They had installed the LED headlights but once you clicked it to high beam it wouldn't go back to low beam. I went through the relay harness and found it was wired wrong. Rewired it and it worked great. Then I drove it at night. Youre right, it makes a huge difference! I might get some.
They do sell a Holley sniper carburetor for the Samurai. They still need to tweak the install and hardware. I may go down that road one day. Their is a video on one installed on UA-cam somewhere.

Hello, that's why I'm afraid to buy a Suzuki that needs restoration, either you take it apart and rebuild it like a Lego or problems always arise. Here in Portugal you can buy an SJ 410/413 to restore from €1,800 negotiable (because we like to negotiate) up to €4,500, more expensive they are already in better condition and can cost from €5,500 to €13,000 (LJ80 classic as new of the Stand).
I totally understand that. I don't think this thing would have ever left me stranded if the coil hadn't cracked, and I think maybe that was my fault. I think maybe I hit it with a wrench breaking loose the bolt for the timing adjustment. You are right though, a 37 year old vehicle is gonna need to be gone through for a while to work out all the issues. Could u imagine in the year 2061 trying to restore a 2024 vehicle when it's 37 years old? I don't think people will even restore these more modern vehicle, there's an infinite number of things that can go wrong. At least these Samurai's are simple so once everything is gone through you should be good. Hope you're doing well my friend.
Sounds like things cost about the same were you live. I'd say about anything older than a 90 an really under 80 would be fairly easy to learn to restore. I would love to see what they are restoring 40 yrs from now. Stay safe
Get rid if the hoses put on a manual choke
Yeah, I was just thinking about bypassing the hoses like a heater core. It still has that temp spring in there, would just take longer to work, but here it's so hot it's wide open anyways.

@@numbskullskills Don't even need to. It's wide open just from the ambient air temp on that spring. I think the coolant just heats the spring up faster in winter. Today I swapped plug wires off my roommates 4Runner. Didn't seem to make a difference but it was hard to tell because it smoothes out after it runs for a minute.

Yeah it's farther away than it looks lol. In these temps if you spray it on something more than about 2 feet away it's dry before it hits. When I was editing I noticed that it looked like I was spraying it all over Jenny's car lol.
