to me, an idol with a good stage presence is an idol that is able to capture my attention when they are performing.
take jihyo as an example. whenever i watch twice performances, naturally, my eyes move towards her because she always seems so genuine while performing.

I personally think with taeyeon,she was genuinely annoyed with lip syncing becuase we've seen this with alot of sm artist and other artist . I would say aespa is also an example of this because alot of people have pointed out already how "they don't even hide it anymore". It's getting more and more obvious by the day and it's affecting their stage presence because they're truly showing how annoyed they are by it which we can't blame them for because they probably want to sing and show people that they aren't lip syncing
But its kind of bad to just be “annoyed” she at the least needs to make it look like she isnt annoyed. Just coz shes been in the industry for a long time doesnt mean she can act unprofessional amd slack off on dances
I'm not saying it's totally okay, but I think it's ~kinda~ valid bc Taeyeon has always sung live ever since. It's only just recently that SM made their artists, including her, lipsync on music shows and other stages. Remember when GD was told to lipsync? He refused and didn't even bother opening his mouth while performing an entire song. He was annoyed as hell.
All the artists there have amazing vocals but they had to lipsync bc of the aespa members there

I have never seen Jihyo slacking off on stage. She is always energetic and gives her best every single time. She is very profesional. I think most of Twice members are like Jihyo too.

What do you mean by that? Even though their stage presence needs improvement, the idols are hardworking and it does not deny the fact that being an idol was their dream. Depends, some can ge overworked and tired and are trying the best to their ability but everyone has their limits where you can only do so much until you collapse on your bed and fall asleep a second later. They all had a passion and a talent one time, some still have it, some lost it, some grew tired of it. Lots of cases
@@andtipidee Yes you took my comment in a negative aspect. Some days, even if our job is our dream job, we'd rather be somewhere else because life is not easy everyday for anybody. And there are many factors that can make living our dream less nice than we thought over time.
Even if it's still their dream, they might still be there because it's their work for this specific song or specific day. So I'm not shaming them, that's just what it is they are human after all.
But to answer more in the perspective of your comment, I think you are right, they are still very hardworking and it's not because they don't reach their goal yet that they are not there for their dream.

I hope one day kpop fans will understand that stage presence is not only about being a good dancer. The best example is Tell me what is Love perf from Kyungsoo, nothing extravagant but with only his voice he managed to capture perfectly the public’s attention.

But some example are actually accurate like for the contrast between Sehun and Kai. I think that due to the importance of visuals + dance in this industry, fans naturally used those terms only for dancers.
Sehun’s whole image is this “cool” and stern expression, winter from Aespa has the same vibe. It works for them and I wouldn’t say it’s bad stage presence, just a different type

The comment section is why people never take kpop stan opinions seriously and for good reason. Stage presence is not only dancing and people naming jin as having no stage presence when he is one of the only idols in the industry who is able to captivate an audience with a slow ballad, no choreo, only vocals and piano.
Him being a highlight on a tour with so many heavily choreographed songs and with performances from some of the idols with the best stage presence in the industry is proof of that. He knows how to work the stage, he knows how to interact with the audience and he gives it his all, from vocals to dance to spirit.
Also, saw people name rm, v and suga as worse as well which is just more proof you guys have no idea what stage presence is.

Stage presence isn't about dance ? It's about how good you are at captivating an audience, and sadly for your essay, dance is one big criteria to define stage presence. Not the only one, thank god. If we were judging on dance alone, only Jhope and Jimin would have stage presence in BTS. The first time she performed Drunk in Love (where she was on that spinning chair) and Run the World (where she had that background she was dancing with). In Drunk in Love, you see at one point that she's singing, but the mic isn't anywhere near her face. In Run the World, after the first chorus where they bring her an actual mic, the difference in her voice is very noticeable. She was tired after the demanding choreo, but then she's okay? Plus, her breathing doesn't match up with the vocals. Just two instances off the top of my head.

I am a huge fan of kpop and bad stage presence doesn't mean we hate them but it should probably improve bcs of the fans and also it doesn't matter if you aren't gonna sing live what matters is the stage presence and if you are gonna lipsync then you should do it right for the fans which can be fixed if you didn't do it right but either way taeyeon is amazing and the video makes sense and also she isn't mad bcs she isn't singing live it's that even look at taeyeon expressions with the group she kinda does it only a little and there are new groups who lipsync but they do it correctly and no it doesn't matter if they sing live or not (no hate to you or the creator or any idol I am not trying to start a fight have a great day everyone! )

if you're talking about Chaeyoung(twice), honestly this is valid I always see her very alive before (at 16) music to her is the main thing that makes her shine, in her vlive that's what captures me the most even my non-once friend told me so, she's so good but they don't even bring her to the spotlight at her project with Dahyun I can see her genuinely being happy with it, Their concept doesn't fit her. She's so calm yet the other members are energetic, she's calm in a way a person would see her cool or scary there's no in-between. I low-key wish they didn't renew so she could go her way or maybe they'd give her some love they brought to other members. She's so bright whenever she sings and rap but the group concept take it away
