      Lovely Video clip! Sorry for chiming in, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you researched - Proutklarton Helping Firestarter Plan (do a google search)? It is an awesome exclusive product for getting a $15 optic fire starter for free without the headache. Ive heard some decent things about it and my friend after many years got astronomical success with it.

    Here is a time-saving tip. Simply attach the fire-starter to your knife handle with the lanyard, or wind it twice around any button on your clothing, and dispose of that silly saw-blade looking rubbish. To start a fire, rub the magnesium directly onto dry kindling with the back of the knife; there is no need for a huge amount as per this video (or to speed the video up for that matter) - only about 5 scrapes is adequate. Then simply strike the starter. Hey presto!

    A few weeks ago we had a series of sever rain storms with high winds here on Vancouver Island. For those of you not "in the know" this is one of the wettest areas in North America. My firesteel was still able to get a small fire going at first- but due to the amount of rain it quickly went out. On the next try there was so much water running down my arm and hand over my firesteel that neither my buddy nor I could generate any sparks. Ranger bands did not even work, thank god for Fatwood!

    In the south we use what they call fat lighter, it is amazing to start fires with so easy and a little goes a long way. As far as i know it is only found in certain parts of the country. Just use a little of fat lighter and pile your tender on and you got a fire quick. I'v seen it for sale on ebay. If you ever use it you will not want anything else.

    great for wet conditions, but tbh, with the effort and time it takes with these things, a good quality ferro rod (like the bush tracks fireballer) would save u alot of effort and money

    @AwesomeMrCheese haha the correction is wrong. flint is a black stone that does not burn at all. correct, he has no flint there. he has magnesium and fire steel. fire steel(aka a ferracium rod) is generally an alloy of iron and a few other "sparking" metals. back in the day when people commonly used flint and steel, the flint was the striker, the steel sparked. you can get the same effect with flint and the back of a high carbon steel knife.

  • @abazdarhon
    @abazdarhon 4 роки тому

    Remember to carry the block of cement white paper and the heaviest striker you can find .... and after 30 minutes off scraping magnesium you can start your fire by dumping all the wood on Fire
