    Zach, this seems much less natural and pressured for you than when you're working in the garage out fishing. You seemingly chilled out when it was food time. This is good content and you know what you're doing so relax! And enjoy!!

      I should add I have one in my bag and one in my pocket every trip I take in thr colder seasons. The one in my bag is sufficient for summer adventures. But then again I carry a bic, matches magnesium and a mini signal flare in different kits and pieces of gear most of the time.

    Joe and Zack survival- Such a simple device but in a SURVIVAL situation, it can save your life. Thanks for a great video. So many of us take things for granted, and the basics in survival are a must for every one to know. Thanks again and can’t wait for more to come. Merry Christmas and a Happy New year to you and your family.

    Good advice. Always carry 3 ways to light a fire. Waterproof matches, lighter, and magnesium fero rod.

    Finally!!!!!!
    One recommendation, never.....ever...use main edge...that edge can save your life!
    Your mora; grind the spine to 90 degrees. It will shave magnesium, birch, cedar...and viciously strike flint AND ferrow rods. .....a carbon one will also spark off granite or hard rocks to ignite your char materials
    Again don't kill your knife edge when you have all the rest of the knife to do the dirty work

    Great instructional video Zach. I have a couple of these but never really spent much time with them (the ol' bic lighter is just too easy). Now myself and many others, know the proper technique to get a flame. If either you or your dad has a fire piston, I think viewers would be interested in see that process as well. They aren't as common, but very interesting to use. Have a great Christmas holiday when it gets here. Cheers from Ptbo, ON, Canada.

      @chrisknudsen9331 Рік тому

      I agree with you...there are far easier tools to use...outside the bick or strikeanywhere matches.
      Myself, huge fan of a large , quality Ferro.
      Shave it....shave birch and or cedar, or cat tail and or pine pitch......gasoline right there.
      Cheers from Perth ontario

    Zach awesome video buddy and definitely well put out there also!! I have always carried a magnesium and flint starter when going out camping or just being in the outdoors!!! They definitely can work very well but if someone hasn’t tried to start a fire with one before it might become a life or death situation it definitely can be very frustrating trying to get a fire started with one!!! It’s definitely a good idea to try using one every time before going out where something could possibly go wrong or you might be away from easy shelter, warmth, and food!! Awesome video buddy seriously and remember keep up all the hard work buddy!!!!

    Why only one breast? Why add the beef? Partridge (grouse) tastes nothing like chicken. I appreciate you branching out and trying something new but show us the whole process. For all we know that bird is in your freezer and you cooked chicken.

    • @annek1226
      @annek1226 Рік тому +2

      Well Curt, you must be new around here or you would have never made these comments. As for the rest, you were never a scout were you? As for what that bird tastes like, it can taste different to different people and once you add seasoning it goes to a whole other level.
      Here’s hoping that your mood improves.

    • @JoeandZachSurvival
      @JoeandZachSurvival  Рік тому +3

      I cooked both breasts, and I didn't expect to get anything on my way out, but as luck would have it, I got a grouse. But I had the beef with me. I do have a video of me cutting up the grouse, ect, but I don't think it's necessary to show. And yes, it tastes like chicken. Your opinion might be different, but honestly, I'm not too concerned about what you think because I was actually there.
