John 5 appeared recently on Eddie “I Know Everybody” Trunk sirius xm show to talk about his time so far in Motley Crue and revealed what former guitarist mick mars texted him when he was announced as the band’s new guitarist.
Prior to joining Motley Crue, John 5 had been the long time guitarist for Rob Zombie and told Trunk he had a longstanding relationship with the guys from Motley Crue stating “Ive been friends with Nikki and Tommy for ever… I'm so close to Nikki. We talk probably 80 times a day for a decade. We've done so much work together - we worked on the Meatloaf song together "The Monster Is Loose," Sixx: A.M. of course, L.A. Rats, The Dirt [biopic soundtrack]... other than music, we're just always around. He was the best man at my wedding. We always go to the mall and ride bikes and just do total normal stuff."
The guitarist would go on to reveal that Rob Zombie and Motley Crue were on the road at the same time, but after both groups got off the road, he was playing with his John 5 and the Creatures shows and it was at that time all the drama with Mick Mars and Motley Crue was going on. John 5 would go on to add They were off tour and I was still doing some shows and Nikki called and said, 'Listen, Mick is going to retire and we have these obligations from Live Nation - we have South America booked, we have Europe booked... do you want to come on board?'"
His answer was, "Absolutely."
But the guitarist still had to go tell Rob Zombie the news, telling Trunk "I talked to Rob and he understood. Rob is a smart, rational person. He wasn't psyched, but he understood. I think that was amazing of him and he was just like, 'Go got 'em.' He was fine about it. They got [Mike] Riggs, who I think is a great, great addition," adding that there is no bad blood between himself and Zombie.
He would also address the rumors that the band plays to a backing track telling Trunk
"Do you really think that we would put a mistake on a track or something? No, it's crazy. It's so crazy, but 100 percent he plays every single note on there. Just listen to the shows before you make these statements, because you'll hear mess-ups and that's what rock 'n' roll is."
"Yes, we do rely on technology for backup vocals, for intros, for outros, sirens, horn hits, things like that. Of course, they've been doing that since Dr. Feelgood. I'm not saying we don't rely on technology for things like that. Backups, intros, outros, things that we can't replicate ourselves. But me, Nikki, Tommy [Lee] and Vince [Neil], we're all live up there."
John 5 would add about the first text he received from Mick Mars telling “Junk in The Trunk” When I was announced as the guitar player, he was one of the very first texts that I got and he said, 'You're going to kill it.' It's good. It's not like it's some stranger coming in. We have a great respect for each other

Yeah it’s really rad that it’s all good between them’ it’s only when peoples egos start getting in the way of things with bands that shit starts to kick off’ if everyone is naturally humble then everything usually works out pretty well in all aspects of playing in your own band and also joining another band’ it might hurt to be replaced but it’s the reason that the person was replaced that should be the main focus’ if they left for whatever reasons then u will probably be replaced etc

Guessing it's computer generated voice. I find them terrible to listen to, I'd rather have a person that has a hard time reading.
My issue is the channel creator at least keeps it interesting, even if everytime he signs off he sounds like he's being rushed. It's 2 1/2 mins, you don't have time for that?

I love Mick . He is good people . And John 5 is just a class act all around. He is a heavy talent also . And Rob has so .uch respect from people due to him being a great person .

@@KenGaska he was good to my young daughter . It was her first concert and he made sure she didn't get squished when people were pushing to the front . And I watched a lot of interviews before I let her go .

John 5’s got the rare uber sweetheart personality type. He’s always so beyond super nice and respectful to everybody he crosses paths with.
Never heard him saying a bad thing about anybody. A rock n roll saint. The rare breed that turns any antagonist talking bad about him or trying to start shit into the automatic, undisputed asshole by default. No response by John’s ever necessary.
There's video of him getting ready to throw down with Manson mid show. He hucked one of his guitars on the ground ready to throw fist. I love j5 but I think Manson just has the reach advantage. God that would have been amazing to see a big band go to punches mid show

This is absolutely how it should be (between Mick & John5 that is) John5 at the end of the day is just doing his job & all the BTS stuff that’s going on with Nikki, Tommy & Mick have nothing to do with John. john 5's statements about the rest of the guys playing all of their instruments live totally contradicts what mick said about the stadium tour. also he maybe able to lie to non musicians but anyone that plays an instrument can tell when its faked and both nikki and tommy have been called out for it by by musicians. just putting it out there lol

Because it's not true. Mick played live only the solo. The rest is backing track. And there are plenty of videos u can see it

Yeah no kidding. I'm pretty sure that it is all because Vince doesn't practice singing during his own time anymore. If you look on UA-cam at Vince singing "Time for Change" in 2009 on the Crue Fest 2 tour, he actually doesn't do too bad of a job at that song. They hadn't played "Time for Change" in years, so there is no doubt that they all had to re-learn the song for that tour. That's why a song that hadn't been played in forever sounded better than the ones they play every show. Because they actually put effort into practicing it instead of just getting up on stage thinking "Yeah, we all know this one just get it overwith"

Yeah that text is added by a nobody blaming another person for being successful and enjoying himself. That bitterness of being a nobody really looks sad after awhile on here.
I’ve read too much about guide vocals and how bands make it sound “real.” Mistakes are part of the track. They also work with multiple versions of the same song. Mix it up. Different pieces of backing tracks thrown in, if that makes sense.

I have on video nikki sixx touching the mic, clapping, pointing, and raising his fists, while the bass was still playing. He 100% uses backing tracks. Tommy was also caught not even at his drumset while the symbols counted the band in. Just cut the crap already. Obviously john5 would say they don't. He has too.
Mars is motley. You can replace tommy, nikki and vince but not mars. This is exactly what they said they wouldn't do when they did the farewell tour.

I've always found it better to not answer a direct question, and avoid it completely if not asked, instead of lying about something. Throwing your credibility out the window for something so silly is just dumb. They play with backing tracks. It's obvious, we've seen it, and I don't believe Mick has any reason to lie about it. It's been known for years that Nikki can't play worth a damn. There's way too much smoke over the issue for there not to be a fire.
The sad part is that no one asked him about it. he just decided to "address" it and call Mick a liar.
5 is a great guitar player but is he as good as Mick?
He hasn't made the same name for himself outside of the guitar world, but ability wise he is levels above Mick... And I love Mick's playing.

In terms of skill and technique yes . But as a riff machine and being able to move people with his lead playing .. Mick is the better guitar player . Sadly many think skill makes the better player alone . But David Gilmour has moved tons more people than a Paul Gilbert or Yngwie Malmsteen .
The band should have stayed retired. That's why this whole thing blew up. They did a final farewell retirement tour and that should have ended it right their. So if Mick Mars was cool with Johnny 5 filling in and had no problem why is he pissed off now? Something else has gone down.
