Elephants are also the only animals of the African savannah big and mighty enough to be safe from lions, because they're too big and strong to let them succeed in attacking them.. Except baby elephants are more defenseless to lions, but their giant protective mothers won't let it happen if they can help it

Most mammalian quadrupeds, that I'm familiar with, have their mammaries locate posterior to those of humans and elephants. Are there other such mammals arranged thusly, other than us and the other primates? What drives that, evolutionarily?
