One of the best eating fish in the ocean. It's cool to see them caught in other parts of the world. They are highly sought after over here in the states.

Agreed! That was the first time I’ve tried them and it’s the best fish I’ve eaten!! They are kinda rare and hard to catch here and not a lot of people know about them, we also only see them for a few months a year which adds to the level of difficulty.. a lot of people here would have them in the too hard basket

@@Micksgonefishing It's a rewarding species to target. Those who know about them tend to obsess about them, so they are fairly pressured here. I can't say i've ever thought to throw a hard jerkbait at them tho--usually a soft plastic. I hope you stick a few more while they are around.

    Hey mate, great vid!
Not sure about others but I’m as new to fishing as I am to Mackay. Only really been getting into it the last half a year or so and your content has been a jump start to say the least!
I would love a vid from a local long time fisherman such as yourself about responsible fishing, something like a species guide in terms of how you handle species personally.
Ive seen for example in your other vids you don’t like to take Barra over 75-80 as their breeders, and I’ve heard you say you’d rather keep a finger because they don’t handle barotrauma well. I’ve also heard jacks are great eating fish but they’re slow growing and territorial, which is why i don’t tend to keep them now. On the other hand I’d also love to hear which species you don’t mind taking for the plate and why.
I have no doubt you have great takes on plenty of other species and I’d love to hear them, I’m really enjoying the sport and the wealth of knowledge your channel has to offer.
    Keep it up !

      Thanks mate!
Glad I can help, I really wish I had all the info that’s out there now when I was learning the art of lure fishing back in the 90s. But in saying that the tech wasn’t there so it’s been fun evolving as the industry has evolved!
It would be good to put something like that together in detail, but it would be a bloody long and boring video 😅
I’m a one man show and being organized at producing isn’t my strongest point. I can go into depth in a regular conversation with others, but doing it infront of the camera without someone to ask questions and probe the info out of me takes way more organizing and preparation than my adhd brain can plan for 😂😂
Until the day I find the perfect person to employ to help film and produce for me, I don’t have the capacity to put it all into a video and make it something I think is worth watching… but don’t worry, I’ll continue to drop what info I have that’s relevant when it comes up in what I’m doing ✌🏻

I just got myself a Vanquish1000ssspg they are legit when they say they are better than an exist and a Stella 👑

      @Micksgonefishing  3 місяці тому

Yeah man I used to have one it was mint! They’re not a workhorse like the Stella though. The ci4 body makes them closer to an exist 👌🏻

@@Micksgonefishing I've really been noticing that Daiwa reels don't have the smoothness out of the box after use seems to be loosing traction to Shimano. Shimano are doing things I can't wrap my head around just yet, really innovative.
Daiwa is getting too expensive, less focused on functionality more so focused on phenomenal looks but they are starting to reduce the amount of Meagseal from their reels to reduce weight and increase sensitivity. The new Chinese Airitys and Exists having roller bearing and shaft issues not to mention that Daiwa Still have issues with their antireverse... After 8 years of almost everyday use and only 2 services I've had to retire my megabass gaus30x phenomenal reel but the antireverse gave in and I happened to get the last replacement but can't get parts anymore shocking service department not to mention... I can still get parts for my old Shimanos plus mint service department
Definitely for higher speed and power the Stella SW is king 👑
The new vanquish internally has the same gearing as a Stella however Shimano uses surface treatment on the gearing on the Stella to make it smoother. They definitely built the Stella better and the new vanquish handle looks absolutely shocking but the truth is I am shocked when turning the handle the Start stop inertia isn't as good as the 19 vanquish but way better than a Stella exist and Airity.Where it shines above all the other reels is the start stop inertia, casting distance and line management. They don't have the inertia of the 19 but the 23 Vanquish slower oscillation really makes all the difference. The new Airitys, the exists and Stellas would be great for high speed you turn the handle and they don't stop spinning smoother than a vanquish but when you need finesse and twitches this will cause issues with line lay and overlap especially when you need to be really into contact when working plastics and vibes. I've really noticed the difference the line literally does not move up and down the spool when you are twitching baits. When it comes to BFS and I wouldn't look at any other reel. Funny enough no handle feels like the 19 or 23 Vanquish I don't know how to explain it, there are smoother reels but the vanquish handle feels better to turn than any other reel?!🤔
Smaller differences than the other reels shouldn't really make all the difference when it comes to fishing but Shimano has nailed it with the new vanquish. Does everything an Exist and Airity does for almost half the price. Only thing I would say is that the exist is lighter by .5g...
Would be super cool if the new Stella incorporated some of these functions 😎
Funny enough watching your videos of you smacking Jew, threadys and Barra on the Calcutta really gave me the confidence to give Shimano reels a go again and I haven't looked back since.👍
