- Talk’s international editor Isabel Oakeshott slams the BBC for feeling ‘anxious’ to cover topics which ‘could appear hostile to migrants’.
“They employ hundreds of people to promote diversity and inclusion, but don’t promote diversity of thought!”
Dr. Madeline Sumption's review, which was commissioned by the BBC board in April 2023, has concluded that the BBC's migration coverage does not exhibit a consistent bias towards any particular viewpoint.
However, the review also highlighted certain vulnerabilities that pose risks to maintaining impartiality. According to Dr. Sumption, the BBC produces a substantial amount of commendable content on migration, but there are also areas that need improvement.
The review specifically identified "risks to impartiality that point in multiple directions."

That has already happened because of the bias during the Brexit referendum campaign. There was a date that half a million people stopped paying on the same day. Following that date there has been a steady decline in people who are willing to watch it or pay for it.

During my last several visits to my GP l have not seen a white person in the waiting room, and most have clearly been been new immigrants. This despite living in a still predominantly white area. Further, at my local hospital in east London, it is mostly immigrant staff looking after mostly immigrant patients. The A&E department there allways has people queuing out of the door and wait times are horrendous. We cannot go on like this, but according to the BBC we can. Hacks me off when l've paid taxes and NI all my life but if l need any medical attention l have to join the queue with new immigrants and even people who shouldn't be here.
The BBC, bless it, is determined to promote womens football and increase the quota of female sports pundits and ex women footballers to explain the game.

It shows integrity to question these diversity and migration policies not racism and intolerance. You are showing you have the good judgement and common sense to ask questions about things that are fundamentally changing your country and culture. Those who can't defend their policies will do so by calling those who question them names and sticking labels on them. I'm afraid we will have to take the name calling and not allow ourselves to be silenced by it, if we want to change things and have more a responsible approach to migration.
