Josh vs Simpson Desert: The Poeppel Corner Adventure Part 2 The Corner - KTM 690 - MVDBR Enduro
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 жов 2024
- While I was parked up at Birdsville in the RV, I made a run for Poeppel Corner on the KTM 690. This 165km jaunt through the Simpson Desert (plus 165km return) covers a lot of the Simpson's sand dunes including Big Red, and also involves crossing the Eyre Creek. In Part 2 I continue my solo run on the mighty 690 - will I make it to the corner? Will I make it back to civilisation? Will the KTM give up the ghost and leave me stranded? Will the mutant desert flies swarm hectic and chew my face off? Ya better fkn watch the video and find out. If you haven't seen Part 1 yet, you can here: • Josh vs Simpson Desert...

Great stuff. Special that you are having this adventure with your mum
Cheers mate 🍻
Good times Josh that is a massive desert. Thanks for sharing bud
Cheers Mr Ian 🍻🍻
The sandman - nailed it👍
Yeah boi 💪 haha cheers mate
Well done Josh! Great no binning occurred. Also, I'm so happy you experienced the flies. They are worse than my ex!! It's such an impressive photogenic place out in the woop woops! Great riding conditions for you. 👏👏👏
Hahah fkn exes 😅💩 Cheers Bob, was definitely a great time to be out there, so scenic 🙏
The sense of achievement is palpable mate well done. Made it look like a breeze in the end and with no drops 💪. The 690 ran like a top with no concerns about reliability . Cheers 🍻
Ah the orange puff for the win 😅 Thank you sir 🍻🍻
Nice one Josh, certainly is a great option to sample the simmo, with out loading up to the eyeballs with fuel and gear. Thanks for taking us along. To bad there isn't a servo half way across. 🤣🤣 They could fly the fuel in and charge $20 / Litre.
Haha true mate, I'd pay it... only if I was filling the 690 up though 😅 Cheers Jethro
Mate, what an awesome day on an awesome bike. On my bucket list. Good that you mentioned the reliability of the 690 and trust you have in it. I did 22,000 km on my 690 in 3 years and not one single issue. Cheers
Good to hear they're not all dodgy mate! Cheers 🙏
Awesome mate, hoping our run in the next couple of weeks is as smooth as yours!
And the horse float hahaha, seen that posted on FB groups 🤣🤣
I heard it's been hot af at Birdsville lately man, hope it cools down a bit for yas 🤞
I dont know if we can even call it a desert anymore! Green green green!
I am so glad we did not have any water crossing back in 2022
Very lush Nerbson 😎
Good one Josh, nice job !
Cheers Oli 🤙🤙
Great video Josh as usual. What a ride to tick off the list. Well done 🎥🏍
Thanks Geoff! Loved it 🍻🍻
That's the way to do it mate. Light and fast. Much better than ambling along in a fourby, or trying to chuck around an adventure bike
Yeah I reckon so, cheers man 😎💪
That 690 has proved its mettle. Fun ride along. 👏👏👏
Hopefully it doesn't spit a valve or something and prove me wrong 😬 Cheers Bradley
Awesome riding Josh, nice ride to tick of the bucket list.
Always watch you vids
Love the KTM 690,there's nothing it cant do.
Well, apart from be comfortable on the road for more than 30 minutes haha. Or maybe I'm just getting soft 😬 Cheers Daniel!
I love the new adventures. Thank you Josh!
Cheers brother 🍻👌
Well done mate 👍
Cheers bro 🤙
Thanks!
🙏🙏
Good stuff Josh; Looks like you found the perfect time for the sand ride...there's obviously been a bit of wet stuff sprinkled about the place; 690 sounds superb when ya give it a crack and I agree, I can't recall ever seeing Toby ride the sand as fast and as smooth as you just did; may the KTM god keep smiling on you....
Maybe I'll send him a link to this video, he might pick up a few tips on how to ride properly 😎 Haha cheers Mark 🍻🍻
@@MVDBR I don't think Toby will listen or watch mate...he's too set in his ways and thinks he's a genius on a bike just because he's won a few desert races; Invite him along for a ride and fill his helmet full of roost...maybe then he'll listen to ya!
@@markhills3922 😅👌
Done well mate beer well deserved 🍺🍺👍
🍻🍻 cheers Johnny
This was sick dude. I loved feeling like I was along for a ride in the desert. I really like seeing you ride some new terrain. Can't wait for the next installment. Hope you're well. CAM FROM NZ :)
Thanks Cam great to hear from you mate. All good here hope you're going ok bro 🙏
@@MVDBR All good here. Just crazy busy dealing with work and sick animals. Himalayan 450 review coming out tonight... well short highlights anyway. I see ya have a boys camping vid coming out. Was that shot before you left?
@@actstuntcam nah mate been back for a couple weeks, with a mountain of editing and reviews to get thru. Nearly there 👌 Glad you're well and keeping busy brother, always look forward to your videos 👊👊
Success!
I give KTM a lot of crap but other than dodgy fuel pumps on the earlier models of 690 Enduros the 690 has proven itself to be a great bike.
I hope my Husky 501 can live up to its reputation.
Yeah they're not perfect by any means but both my KTMs the 500EXC and the 690 have been rock solid so far 💪 cheers
Man, as much as I like my 890 Adv and 500 EXC, I will miss my 690 when I finally sell it. It is such a great bike, I have it dialed in just right. I'm trying to talk myself into keeping it as a "spare dirt bike" in case I want to bring a friend along, but I wouldn't want anyone else riding it, haha. I've had no reliability issues with it after 13,000 KM, unlike my other KTMs. Glad to see you having fun riding!
Don't sell it! 😬😬
Hello Josh! Finally Part 2...Well done! It was a great Adventure, to have achieved a personal goal of riding up Big Red, then onto Poppels Corner and back to Birdsville. Safe Travels, hugs to Mum... David...Adelaide.....Triumph 1200X Scrambler.......
Thanks David! 🙏
What an awesome adventure. The 690 really seems to suit this sort of riding well and is good on fuel too. I really wish there were some lighter options like this but lower that would suit me, but nothing really fits the bill... Even the CFMoto 450MT is still a heffer in comparisson to the 690/701. Sadly my local dealership has just lost KTM, and if the rumours are true, may be closing it's doors under the current management which will be a blow.
Yeah shit if you believe the rumours, KTM itself is in the poo 💩 financially. But yeah the 450MT is probably closer to your Toerag than the 690, seems like nobody can produce a decent lightweight twin cylinder based bike, we have to put up with nasty old thumpers 🤙 Cheers Pete
Hey josh far out mate, 👊🤠👍, hope your up for the full crossing mate, safe journey for you and mum, take care guys 👊🤠👍
Cheers cob 😎
A little something there to help with gas.
Thanks man! Fkn legend 🤙🤙
Good stuff, what year and Kay’s on your 690 mate, thanks
2018 with 27,700km on it, but the previous owner had the the top & bottom end rebuilt at 15,000. Said he found some nasty bits in the oil, but the engine turned out to be fine. Had it rebuilt anyway. So yeah only about 18k on the motor 🤙
Agreed, those big adventure bikes are the biggest rip off ever, in that they are too heavy to do what they're advertised to do.
They are good for a purpose, sand riding is not included in that purpose in my humble estimation lol. Cheers Rob
Australia is Vast as MDB say :):)
So.... vast..... 😅😅

Jeff's motorbike roared to life, a symphony of metal and power that sent a thrill through his veins. He was in Tasmania, a rugged island state known for its untamed beauty, and he was ready to explore every twist and turn.
The winding roads of the Freycinet Peninsula were a biker's dream. As he navigated the coastal cliffs, the ocean crashing against the rocks below, Jeff felt a sense of freedom he'd never experienced before. The air was crisp, the sun warm, and the scenery breathtaking.
His journey took him to Cradle Mountain, a national park famous for its ancient rainforests and towering peaks. He rode through the heart of the wilderness, the silence broken only by the rustle of leaves and the occasional call of a bird. The experience was both exhilarating and humbling.
As the sun began to set, Jeff found himself on a secluded beach, the waves lapping gently at the shore. He sat on the sand, watching the sky turn hues of orange and purple, a sense of peace washing over him. It was a moment he would never forget.
@@MVDBR Hahaha, THAT sounds like a GREAT ride Josh 🤔 buuuut THAT ride would take a DARN long time to do 😂🤣 i know my ASS would hate me for putting it on the DRZ for that long 😮🙃
ps , you should write stories 😉👍
keep well mate 😉🍺
@@jefftaswelder9154 I used Google AI to write that one Jeff hahaha 🍻🍻
