Not bad but at that price level you would expect a better lighter platform like audi has. On the other side I think it should be safer in case of a crash with the engine at the front and a jig welded steel chassis
I like the GT-R but my personal favorite is the R34 skyline it doesn’t have a 21 year US Import ban and the Japanese don’t call it Godzilla for no reason lol 😂

Herman Johnson if you say so, I never really found the GTR special, besides its jaw dropping acceleration. But even it's acceleration has been surpassed by many cars in a similar price range now.

The Nissan GT-R came out in 2008 and it is 10 years old I think it is An Amazing Master Piece when it come to performance both on the straight line and on the track. Can't for the next gen Nissan GT-R rumor to have 800 hp as the base model to come and destroy all super and hyper cars again ; )

Jess the V10 hasn't been around that long though. The GTR is still using the same VR38 motor, the Nismo just has different turbos and a titanium exhaust.
GTR Neill it’s not my fault they have not evolved and got slower. And the nismo was made in 2015
I wonder what tires each car had.. I imagine the Audi had much less sticky rubber.. that's all of the grip difference right there
That Audi's 0-60 is a consistent 2.5 Seconds, same as the Huracan. I don't know why the manufacturer is under selling it at 3.2 seconds.
Because no car can get under 3 seconds on the road.
So it's the same as a veyron.....

It is, that's what most people don't know nor would even think is possible.
Expect 2.5-2.7 seconds to 60 to be the average times, but on a perfect day it will hang with a Veyron till 60

German car manufacturers like to do that to give a nice surprise to the owners when they drive the car and it makes the owners like their cars even more.

Same result as the motor trend review the standard tires on the r8 underperform. Someone at Audi hq needs to pay attention to this because a more aggressive tire is available don't know why it wasn't used here. Respect to the gtr though undeniable performance.
What more aggressive tire are you referring to? The P Zero Trofeo R? Because they used the more aggressive tire here. The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2. You can also choose this tire from the factory. Motor Trend did it in their Car of the Year video and it was the quickest of all the others. Incredible machine.
Completely agree. I own a new V10+ and the stock P-Zero's are garbage. Put Sport Cup 2's on for the track and the performance difference is incredible.
Audi may have the less aggressive tires, because these are simply better in bad weather conditions on normal roads. And these cars are driven to 99% on normal roads and not on dry racetracks.
Tires are always a compromise between performance and safety. :)
Paul Kiminza stickier tires on any awd system will start tearing things to pieces. plus understeer is the least of your worries.

I don't believe in that, here on spain GTR nismo costs 185.000€ and the audi r8 v10 plus WITHOUT any extras, costs 218.000€
you could say they were mad if they weren't selling every one as fast as they can screw them together. but they are. so the only madness is on the buyer's end, not Nissan's

seriously never seen many GT-R around, they're always seen as a pretender, if people seriously put money to buy one, they'd either save some money and get the M4/C63 for more street comfort, a Cayman for more fun or just get a 911 for the badge and resale.

they've been trying to beat the 911 in its class for over 2 decades and still fail
the reason is simple: the ONLY way to beat a 911 is to put the engine behind the rearwheels, this needs a special kind of driving skills, but once mastered makes U faster and gives ya a bigger reward
that gives the 911 soul/sexyness, the R8 has a great engine & tech,
but its to "clean" if ya catch my drift ^^
Iris C audi aint trying to beat 911 they can if they want. Most car manufacturers can do it but they dont want to waste money.

I have 2 questions:
1. 25-30 years from now with the 2017 GTR NISMO be worth a lot of money? It is very unique as they will only make them for less that 2 years and that this one has unique to it larger factory turbos.
2. If I were to buy one, should I mildly tune in or leave 100% stock?

Tim Tursonoff The N-ATTACK will be worth money this Nismo not so much. People want the car that set the Nurburgring record this is just a regular GTR with a body kit and a better suspension with a huge price tag. If you like the look of the Nismo body lines on this new one or the 2015-2016 Nismo there are companies already making the full carbonfiber weight reduction Nismo body kits that can bolt right up to any year GTR. A GTR is the most modable car today it's meant to be built fuck stock GTRs or you can buy a N-ATTACK for 300k and sit on it for 30 years and hope it goes up in value but don't hold your breath it's just a Nissan so can't garentee it won't loose value.
Max Pham you are probably right. I have a 2015 Switzer USE. 720 to 900hp depending on the map.
AntiLag BoostAddiction therein lies the problem. N-Attack was never offered in the US. I already have a fully built 2015 Black Edition. So, do I just pass on the 2017 Nismo?

Nissan needs to get checked up for pricing the Nismo that high. And it's hideous. While the R8 is gorgeous.

Petr Prokopius you must be referring to the other guy. But yes, I agree, when you spend that much money on a car it should be about performance but also come with a lot of emotion, character, and looks. The Nismo looks like the older brother to the new Civic Type R. It looks utterly ridiculous. I'm really flabbergasted at Japanese car designers and their lack of innovation when it comes to creating a timeless design.
Jacktay2106 please don’t state your opinion as a fact, for me, I absolutely hate those carbon fiber parts behind the doors of the R8, but that is my opinion.

The GTR was great because of the value that you got for your money. Now it costs more than its competitors and the price doesn't show in performance...

Only a handful of Nismos in the UK (and in general) whereas there are hundreds of R8s.

Yeah, and you void the warranty in doing so. Turbo S is engineered for 3000 launches.

Yeah you can fit one of the Huracan tire options on them and it makes a huge difference. I can't remember exactly which ones but a friend of mine owns a V10+ that he daily drives pretty hard. Tthey're way stickier but he's constantly bitching about replacing them every few months. Probably why the thing comes stock with harder rubber.
A guy who lives in my sister's neighborhood has a Nismo GTR, which is strange because it's a very middle class neighborhood and I don't think anyone else even has a regular GTR. Anyway, the car looks great on the road and makes a great noise even when traveling at low speeds.
Tiff's a bit of a legend, he can make an audi and nissan seem exciting.. Some say, Tiff's stiffer than doubly stiff.

I wonder why Tiff always looks so busy with the steering. As opposed to Chris Harris for example who looks so natural and fluent with his steering inputs.
That R8 produces massive 610 BHP, it's same as Huracan, it even won the world's greatest drag race beating McLaren, AMG and GTR. There was clear winner here.

I do wonder how they would have faired with traction control on. I feel these cars had a lot of trickery implemented to make you go as fast as possible without wasting valuable time sliding around. I always bet it wouldn't have been such a wrestle in either car.

The GTR is a Frankenstein doing what it can with what it's got, not very easy on the eyes.
Interesting result. I watched a guy recorded 7:11 in his stock Nismo GTR in the ring. Time attack by Nissan was 7:08. Sometimes, I see the comments saying Nissan cheated but a guy recorded it in a stock Nismo GTR so if you are good enough to control it, you can be as fast as other track monster supercars.

Unlikely a person is going to cross shop the two. You buy the Nismo because YOU like it and don't care what other people think. But you buy a R8 because YOU want other people to like it too.
In the end, I think a GT3 makes more sense at this price point.

I'm assuming another detail in favour of the R8 would be throttle respone against the GTR (NA V10 vs TT V6). Should make a more responsive daily drive rather than dealing with turbo lag (which isn't really an issue when ur permanently flat out round a track)

Nice impressed by both there, only driven the R8 and it was simply awesome. Only driven an old 2010 model GTR and I'm guessing it'll feel dated in comparison to this and although great it felt numb in comparison to the R8 V10. This however (Nismo 2017 version) looks like an awesome bit of kit.
Tiff is a legend....I hope that he never loses his ability to drive.
