I love my signo uniball white gel pen, but one thing I’ve found is that if you try to use to cover up black line art mistakes, especially ball point pen, it can go in looking opaque but dry kind of translucent with a heavy blue color
lol my pens and pencils are mostly pilot or uni mitsubishi, but mainly because they're super available here in the phils. They're pretty good brands, and what I like about the uni pens the most is that they're waterproof and archival, or at least most of them are.
Silver Head nope, the uni pin fine liners are less than 100p, if i'm not mistaken between 65-80p. the signo pens are a bit more expensive at 130-160p, I can't remember the exact prices. expensive compared to ball point pens and gel pens like dong a and sakura gelly rolls but the uni pens are archival and mostly waterproof. I use them with watercolors so I don't mind the extra price.
I love some of these art supplies, but, I wish they made mechanical pencil lead in dark brown since that is one of the very best drawing colors. In fact, a range similar to Conte crayons would attract more artists to this medium.
I don't know if it's ok to comment this here, but you can sometimes find the Tombow brush pens at Daiso for 1.50! They also pop up at Ichiban Kan. A lot of the supplies can be found at stores you never expect and some even have coupons like Mickles!
If you live in the States, you can find the Tombow brush pens at Michaels and use their weekly 40% off coupon. Brings a $27, 10-color set down to around $11 (plus tax).
the Akashiya Sai waterbrush pens are some of my favorite brush pens, and I tend to stay away from brush pens in general.... And they last me, too. The colors are so vibrant and beautiful as well~
Platinum carbon black pen with Carbon Black Ink is the best product I have ever used for line and wash. Extra fine tip, lightfast, waterproof, works great with watercolors. Japan makes excellent art supplies.
You guys mentioned most of my favorites!! 😍👌 Great video!👏 I've yet to try the mitsubishi hi uni pencil set but it looks lovely as well! I'm pretty sure it's Hayao Miyazaki's pencil of choice too! 😉
I use the pilot one but when I was in science class I used it and had to do my work again because maybe the teacher thought it was a color pencil but it's a mechanical with colors
I have the Sakura Gelly Rolls in Classic, Soufle, Glaze, Stardust, Metallic and Moonlight. Also the Kuretaki Gansai Tambi 36 set and the Starry Starry night 😊 But my favorites are the Holbein color pencils. I only have the Pastel 12s. My dream is to have the full 150s. I'll be happy with even just the Pastel 50s, I think 😆 The Holbein watercolor paints are really nice too. It's in my wishlist 😅
Love the list... But Gansai is not watercolor. It is a glue based paint similar to slip in pottery. Can use similar techniques to Western Watercolors, but different since the pigment doesn’t like sticking to most paper surfaces like the pigments in watercolor.
Fluffball Atelier Where did you learn that? :O I have a Kuretake set and I've had no trouble using them like watercolor and they perform so much better than my Windsor & Newton watercolors. Do the pigments just flake off over time?
HowMy GardenGrows no need to force to buy a 385 set if you have no budget. As a Copic user i'm not even use all the color i have. Plus everyone have personal color preference. Just let her choose "100 favorite color".
Why do people have to talk? Just show the stuff Actually I'm glad your not like those people who takes FRICKEN 12 MINUTES TO EXPLAIN SOMETHING THAT TAKES TWO MINUTES Your quick and I appreciate that
Is it just me or did anyone else see the needle 1:20 and feel a slight pinch like it went in you? Lol sorry but I thought it was odd to me, coool supplies though
I have only swatched them so far and haven't done a completed piece yet, but I can say that the color selection is absolutely beautiful. My favorites are the shades of blue and purple for sure. They are highly pigmented and only require a little bit of paint for coverage. My set included three metallic colors which are very shiny and beautiful against the normal colors for that extra oomph. When it dries there is a little bit of a shiny film to it thats kinda weird but that is my only downside so far.
marsha athifah I own a set of kuretake paints and have done a couple pieces with them so far. I LOVE them! SO pigmented, vibrant and smooth to work with. They dry fast (I use a hair dryer to dry mine faster heh I'm impatient) and are so fun to mix or blend with. I had a set of Windsor & Newton WCs before buying my kuretake set and the W&N ones just don't compare for me. I intended to use both sets when working on my pieces but I find I move more and more into only using my kuretake set. I can't wait to buy a larger set and get the metallic ones! (I actually found both sets at hobby lobby here in Texas. I was shocked since I thought this was a japan only brand lol)
Rebecca Zsasz Really? I heard they were made with animal glue. The Schmincke student grade are very nice, and use no animal products. (Pro line Schmincke does, but student grade is fine.) UA-cam channel In Liquid Color did a great episode on vegan watercolors.
Years after the Japanese art supply boom I actually refuse to buy most products from my country, japanese brands always hold up well and I've never had a problem or complaint. It's only ever when I use products made in my country (or a few other places) that I have a problem with the product.
Hey there, JetPens! I've been using some of the products mentioned here and they are top-notch, guaranteed. If it's okay to ask, *I'm incredibly curious about the travel bag used to store the products at the beginning of the video* since I might as well get it for travel purposes. Hope you can answer, and keep doing a great job! ♥
I love how the art isn't shitty like in other top 10 artsupplies compilations. It's pretty damn great actually!
What you did not mention was that clever little case!
its the lihit lab teffa bag in bag.
I love my signo uniball white gel pen, but one thing I’ve found is that if you try to use to cover up black line art mistakes, especially ball point pen, it can go in looking opaque but dry kind of translucent with a heavy blue color
yup. I have the same pens and the same problem
Me too!
lol my pens and pencils are mostly pilot or uni mitsubishi, but mainly because they're super available here in the phils. They're pretty good brands, and what I like about the uni pens the most is that they're waterproof and archival, or at least most of them are.
Aren't they like cost an arm and a leg here?
Silver Head nope, the uni pin fine liners are less than 100p, if i'm not mistaken between 65-80p. the signo pens are a bit more expensive at 130-160p, I can't remember the exact prices. expensive compared to ball point pens and gel pens like dong a and sakura gelly rolls but the uni pens are archival and mostly waterproof. fufufuaru The Uni pencils for me does cost like an arm and a leg.
Silver Head haven't tried the pencils yet. I just buy the mongols or faber castels, basta HB pencil or #2 lol
fufufuaru eyy youre an filipino?
I love some of these art supplies, but, I wish they made mechanical pencil lead in dark brown since that is one of the very best drawing colors. In fact, a range similar to Conte crayons would attract more artists to this medium.
Love those waterbrushes... it changed my watercolor use completely, it makes it so much more usable outside and on the go.
these videos are so relaxing... i find the organization extremely soothing
Kuretake are my favourite brand for pens. Their Bimoji Fude Pens are perfect for Kanji practise before switching to a brush and ink stick for Shodo.
Only problem is I'm broke all the pens or art supplies from Japan is expensive XD
I don't know if it's ok to comment this here, but you can sometimes find the Tombow brush pens at Daiso for 1.50! They also pop up at Ichiban Kan. A lot of the supplies can be found at stores you never expect and some even have coupons like Mickles!

Army
Buying them at Japan is way more cheap.
Although, traveling to Japan can be quite tough on your wallet.
I recomend the pilot v5 rt it is pretty cheap and smooth just do not try it on your hand the tip is smooth but strong I cut my hand.
I LIVE for my 2B Mitsubishi Hi-Uni Pencils!! I always keep at least 2 with me in my pencil case to draw with. Couldn’t live without them!
I WANT EET ALL
I have a major exam tmrw and I'm here to relief stress..videos of jetpens r so soothing.. ☺🤓
The Pilot pocket brush pen is a real life Execallibur for me. And the bag can be made like a DiY project or sending the design to a textile sewer.

Came to find new interesting art supplies, left knowing I have an addiction as I already own all 10 😂
I have never wanted a gel pen more in my entire life.

I use the pilot one but when I was in science class I used it and had to do my work again because maybe the teacher thought it was a color pencil but it's a mechanical with colors
Plz about cases of art supplies
I have the Sakura Gelly Rolls in Classic, Soufle, Glaze, Stardust, Metallic and Moonlight. I love the Uni-Ball signs white pen and the Tombow Fudensoke brush pen.
I use them both in combined in my watercolor art
Love the list... But Gansai is not watercolor. It is a glue based paint similar to slip in pottery. Can use similar techniques to Western Watercolors, but different since the pigment doesn’t like sticking to most paper surfaces like the pigments in watercolor.
Fluffball Atelier Where did you learn that? :O I have a Kuretake set and I've had no trouble using them like watercolor and they perform so much better than my Windsor & Newton watercolors. Do the pigments just flake off over time?
Garnet ua-cam.com/video/TggB7IASBJs/v-deo.html I think it should answer your questions
I have no problem with the colors sticking to paper. I was a potter for 20 years and these do not behave like slip they behave like water colors.
Gansai is gansai, I guess. I'm pretty sure they're for Asian/Chinese painting style BUT reformulated so it can be used for Western style paintings
What bag is that? The brown one! I need to know lol. Btw, I love this video, the quality and info is amazing, just like the channel:)
Ok I want it now I was dying for pro art supplies but I have those simple ones
That was Fckn Awesome!
I WANT MY COPICS !!
I really want to buy my daughter the entire 385 copic set, but I just don't have $2K lying around. :(
HowMy GardenGrows buy them at micheals on black friday or with a 50/60 percent off coupon. Or on ebay! Thats how I got mine.
HowMy GardenGrows no need to force to buy a 385 set if you have no budget.
As a Copic user i'm not even use all the color i have. Plus everyone have personal color preference. Just let her choose "100 favorite color".
HowMy GardenGrows Blick Studio Markers behave very similarly, are much less expensive if you are in the US, and many colors are now refillable!
