Dude like I ToTaLY heard this rumor like he has a Ferrari which is like Orange can’t confirm even though been a subscriber for almost entire drivetribe :3
I don't know if they mention it in the video because I haven't watched it yet, but I'm pretty sure James is making a new "lab" show because I saw it on his IMDB in "pre-production".
It's great to see a bit of Tom. It's fun watching older Top Gear episodes and seeing him in the edge of shot whenever a cameraman or 'producer' is on screen.
Our Man in Japan really showed that director-presenter relationship well. James admitting how they're desperate for content, Tom arguing with James about paintings, having to retake the Momotaro scene several times, the luxury train food fiasco, and the incredibly awkward Yamaha factory tour all felt real and the emotions really pushed through. I felt uncomfortable and tense watching nearly all of those. Brilliant.
You know I'd actually be interested in seeing that long piece to camera they had in Japan that couldn't go into the show. It sounds legitimately interesting.
One of my brothers worked for TWA, and he told us about a trip to Paris. The crew's Captain, a pilot with thousands of hours of flight time, refused to go on a tour of the Eiffel Tower because he was afraid of heights.
@@bluerex03 I think in that case its a fear of falling, not necessarily heights. I'm no fan of risky high places - but have been a pilot myself. Apples and Oranges. Hard to fall from my strapped in seat. And to add, I'm happy to rock climb and abseil. Safety lines make all the difference.
I really want to see Rory cutting his own hair, and James getting so tired in the middle of a piece to camera that both he and the cameraman sit down before starting up again.
Tom really hit the nail on the head about James being engaging to watch. I don’t think anyone else in the world is more interesting to listen to. James is such a great storyteller and excellent at explaining things.
Petition for them to release the footage of the long piece-to-camera about porcelain, and also the one of Rory cutting his own hair! All in favor, say aye!
Their small argument in Japan at Mt. Fuji was so cool, I wish it’d have lasted longer, I wanted to get into the dialogue more. I love intelligent rants! I also appreciated the little bits with the crew and some bloopers. They’re as much a part of it as the presenter and it’s nice to see them in the spotlight for a moment or two, you don’t usually see or hear about them in other shows at all, which is a shame.
As a car and aircraft enthusiast I wish James would do a documentary on aircraft. He keeps teasing us with his knowledge, what with the Lightning t-shirts and boring Jeremy on detail differences between MIG-17s on top gear. He could present a cracking show about WW2 fighter planes or similar. Sure I'm not the only one that would enjoy his presenting skills applied to the subject.
Ah, finally we get to see this mysterious man who's in the background of all of James' shows. I was re-watching Toy Stories recently and there was the same Tom that was debating James about the meaning of art near mount Fuji about a decade later.
Right there with May on wind, I don't like the wind. That bridge and bicycle ride scared me when I watched it, Totemo Abunai , I don't think I could have rode across.
So nice to finally see both of you in front of the camera. I was watching man labs earlier n was thinking that when Tom helps out with lifting the kitchen slab was the first time I saw him! Hope I'm right.
Circularly would be nice. Have they ever cut the sandwiches triangularly? Seems like every episode I've seen its always been rectangularly. Perhaps triangularly is too much like a genteel afternoon high tea at Harrods or such like?
I enjoyed watching Man Lab and thought it was a fantastic and entertaining show. My favorite projects were the concrete kitchen and the integrated train that ran through the house. I was upset when I found out it wasn't being renewed for a fourth season.
When you go on amazon and sure enough there is a comment saying that manlab is ahead of its time and will be studied at an academic level. Prehaps the time for manlab has returned?
“Back when James smoked” is iconic considering you can see him have a dart in the behind the scenes video on Lucy’s channel. And so we are clear no hate here, it’s hard to shake the habit especially if you grew up in the era where everyone was still smoking.
Can we get a James May unedited series? In fact, can we just get all of them doing unedited programming? I often think you guys underestimate how much we love them.
I was happy to see it was the "end of part 1" as i was enjoying this conversation a lot when i saw it was nearing the end. Looking forward to more... POWAHHH!
I mean... May talking, with an underwater voice, a nice background music & seeing people drinking tea a quite sunny day . . . 😅 and by the way! this is a record for me! last time I felt sleep in only 8.357 seconds! 😐
@@sz7568 Haha, yeah it happens to me as well, i regularly wake up on the couch, and when i try to retrace to the moment where i fell asleep, i'm sometimes shocked to see how little i actually watched before i went K.O, but i don't think it was ever a matter of seconds!
Sound of May isn't because of tea but because of bad mic placement. It's pressed against his throat behind the sweater and hence muffled sound. Turn the clip the other way round and you will have better sound. Or on the inside of the sweater but further down
I think we deserve a UA-cam Channel for compilation videos of James May out takes from Tom for all his shows. like EVERY SINGLE CLIP of James May that didn't make the edit.
Please, please, please, when making a Q&A, interviews and such, say the question out loud instead of just displaying it on the screen. I love James' face as much as the next guy, but it would be nice to be able to just listen to such interviews and it's quite impossible without actually hearing the questions being asked.
I'd love to see a show presented by James and Professor Simon Holland, aside from being inevitably very interesting it'd be a spectacular hair extravaganza
Why is your audio mix always so muddy? It's like your highs are way too low for the voices, I'm having to turn up the volume or wear headphones to understand what's being said. This is disregarding the James May tea spillage, it's always a bit hard to understand on the videos where you use lav mics.

I agree, could listen to the guy for hours.
Someone who doesn’t like him probably
@@Pocket-AA-Pro I think you nailed it right there. That’s exactly the kind of person who wouldn’t want to work with James May.
Agreed. Absolute leg-end is the bloke.
Honestly with the long hair he’s looking like “James May: our nan in Japan”
Hahaha
🤣🤣👍
With the beard especially
I was thinking he was starting to look a bit Billy Connolly.
I have to say, I really liked Man Lab. It was quite fun to watch. I ended up binge watching the whole series in a weekend.
I don't know if they mention it in the video because I haven't watched it yet, but I'm pretty sure James is making a new "lab" show because I saw it on his IMDB in "pre-production".
A whole weekend to watch Man Lab? It's not that challenging...
It had a really quirky appeal to it, didn't it? Kind of a `Mythbusters-meet-home-improvement` vibe.
Ended up doing pretty much the same thing as you.
Luckily got the complete series on dvd to complement the other May programs.
I want 'Man Lab' back so badly, even if it can't be called 'Man Lab' any more. We need the return of James alongside Simmy, Rory, and TV's Oz Clarke.
👍
Non-Binary Transbender Lab?
Hear hear
am watching it now. revelling really
James is looking like Einstein and a wolf in one.
well... nice combination! but I have a very different vision for that!
James is more like Einstein & and another physic professor! 🤷🏻♂️
He should play wolfeinstein then

I cant speak for everyone... but id watch a 5min monologue of James May talking Japanese Porcelain
Release the May cut!
He could talk bout paint drying and I'd still listen to it with amazement!
I like that about him.
And I’d totally watch that too.

You could tell they were getting on each others nerves as the trip went on. I agree with the uncomfortable part.
Tom seems like such a nice bloke, I see how he matches with James
Shame Tom is reluctant to try James’s food.

James is rocking that Richard beard, I love it!!
6:03 You hit the nail on the head about American productions: quantity over quality.
It''s nice to see Tom as a more complete entity, rather than only as a consumer of old fashioned sandwiches.
I really want to see Rory cutting his own hair, and James getting so tired in the middle of a piece to camera that both he and the cameraman sit down before starting up again.

Man lab is hands down my favourite series I've ever watched. Bring back James, Simmo and Rory (and occasionally Oz when he's half sober)!
All the Man Lab talk makes me wonder what Simmy is into these days.

Simmy is a genius....I wonder what sorts of things he’s off engineering right about now 😊
Please hurry with PT2! This is wonderful, I could watch these two chatting for hours!

James is just brilliant, a gift to television. One of the greatest presenters of all time, for me, he is the greatest!
Close second to Clarkson in my opinion. What puts Clarkson ahead for me is the tone of his voice and his timing.
I’d pay for a May TV channel.
I very much loved MANLAB and its raw feel. DO MORE MANLAB PLEASE!!!!!
Nice to see and indeed hear from Director Tom!
I've absolutely loved all of May's extra shows. Man Lab was was particularly great.
